  1. International Karate From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from World Karate Championship) International Karate (also known as World Karate Championship) is a karate computer game published in 1985 by System 3 for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC and Atari 8-bit family of computers. Versions of this game were later released for the Atari ST and the Amiga. There was a PC port too in CGA 4 colors. The game is a simple beat-em up with a side view. Depending on how well you hit your opponent, you either score a half-point or a full point. There were many backdrops representing different famous locations in the world. International Karate and World Karate Championship are identical except for the fact that the latter allows you to compete in either Australia or Egypt. The game was programmed by Archer Maclean, and the music was by Rob Hubbard. Music from International Karate was performed live by a full orchestra at the third Symphonic Game Music Concert in 2005. The event took place in Leipzig, Germany. A sequel to this game called International Karate + was later released.
  2. Will it work in a 1200XL?? The 1200XL will have a 32in1 OS in it with built in Basic.
  3. I agree also. I purchased a 600XL from this seller to use for parts (but have found it hard to piece out a perfectly good Atari). Great price and quick shipping. They always have an 800XL for sale. I'd go for that.
  4. Evil Laugh Ensues...... I have 3!!! Funny story. I have had 1 since about 1984, still in the box and looks new. I installed a 600/800xl OS and basic chip so it doesn't have all the 1200xl bugs and has built in basic. I purchased a 2nd one from ebay a few months back that I am going to use as the "Frankentari" machine and mod the he** out of it. When I got it, half the keyboard didn't work so I track down another on ebay and got it for the keyboard. When I got the 3rd one, half the keyboard didn't work on it either. So I decided to be brave and ripped both keyboards part and fixed them. I now have 3 functioning 1200XL's. I guess that also applied to the statement "Can never have too many Atari's"!!
  5. Here is a link to the software I got with my 3.5 version programmer. The zip file has the software and the PDF files for the 3.5. It may not be exactly the same but might shed some light on the 4.1. Willem Software
  6. Thanks!! That now makes sense.
  7. Eproms actually take very intense UV-C light to erase them. It would take many hours/days to erase them even under sunlight. If the eproms are bad, I doubt it is from light exposure.
  8. I got a new eprom programmer and have a quick question about .bin images. I have looked at many bin images and noticed some have an extra line of code at the beginning of the file. Here is an example: First Image 00000000h: 43 41 52 54 00 00 00 0B 00 5F C7 E8 00 00 00 00 ; CART....._Çè.... 00000010h: FE FF 01 00 56 03 76 01 AD 00 00 8D 5A 04 20 59 ; þÿ..V.v...Z. They are both of the SpartaDos X version 4.21 cartridge. If I were to write to a 27512 and use the first image, do I just delete the first line in the code? If so, why would it have been added. Both files work in Atari800Win. The file size for the second file is exacly 64K while the one with the extra line is 65K. I have many cart images that have the extra first line that starts with CART and just wonder why it's there.
  9. I bought a Willem PCB35 clone programmer from ebay for $45. It came from Hong Kong and only took about 1 1/2 weeks to get here. It works great. I'm pretty sure it also supports the 2716/32 chips via jumper settings.
  10. I have actually been to your site before and have posted in your forums. I really like the layout. Keep up the great work!!!
  11. Here is a site that has a lot of the SpartaDos X manual online. It is a bit different but you may be able to apply a lot of the commands. SpartaDos X User Guide
  12. I have a Chalkboard PowerPad that I picked up a long time ago but it did not have the cable for it. Does anyone have an idea of the pinout on the PowerPad so I can make a new cable for it?? It has what looks like an RJ11 connector on one end. Any help would be appreciated!!
  13. I suppose I will have to look for a power strip like you say, but it's not much of a help from my perspective anyway; I guess my "power drain" excuse really wasn't to the point. It's not so much that the device is always on draining power as it is me worrying about "burning out" the 1010 becuase it has power connected all the time. I know that the vast majority of electronics these days have the "stand-by" mode anyway, like my PS2, and amplifier, and DVD player all have them, something I DO NOT like at all by the way, it's just wasting my power. It's not like they turn on any faster having them on "stand-by" with the little red LED always on anyway. It seems totally pointless to me. But as far as a power strip goes, it's not any better as far as convenience is concerned anyway: either I'm crawling under the desk to plug in/out the 1010's adapter, or crawling under the desk to turn on/off the power strip or I'm crawling under the desk to fetch the power cable that slipped down ther after I unplugged it from the 1010. In each case, I have to crawl under my desk! A simple on/off switch would have cost another whole $.25 worth of components and would have made the 1010 much more convenient to use. Or, do it like the 410 where the drive is off, using no power, but as soon as 'play' or another button is pressed, they act as the power switch too, but the 410 is really off otherwise. I guess I'll just have to splice in a power switch to the adapter cord up near where it plugs into the 1010 so I have a power swithc for it, Thank's for your reply though. 1005332[/snapback] Technically, even though there is no power switch, there is no power applied to the 1010 unless you press one of the buttons. Just like the old portable cassette tape recorders, power is applied when the play/ff/rew keys are pressed.
  14. I just loaded up a game called Dimension X from Synapse from cassette using a 1200XL w/o BASIC from a 1010. The fact is, I tried it with basic first and after a few bleeps, the program stopped and told me to remove the cartridge. On mine, I powered it on holding the START key. It buzzed and then waited at the blue screen until I pressed enter. The tape then started loading. If you press any of the console key during this time, it will stop the tape and reset the computer to the Atari logo. One thing I noticed for the first time on this game, as the program is loading, there is an audio track playing. At a certain point in the song, the L1 and L2 lights on the 1200XL started blinking back and forth to the music. Pretty cool!!!
  15. Ace, If you are using the 1200XL, just leave the BASIC cart out and press START while you turn on the computer. This will initiate the cassette function. Unless the program requires BASIC, there should be no problem. If you are seeing the Atari logo screen, it's probably because the START key isn't registering. You will know because it will beep at you if it is right.
  16. You don't convert cassettes to ATR's. You record the cassette into a PC as a WAV file. There is a utility out there that will convert the WAV file to a CAS file to use in emulators. Go to THIS site for other good utilities. wav2cas.zip
  17. I got mine out and looked at the user manual. The LED is a carrier detect light. It will only light up when it is online.
  18. LOL!!! That's what I get for thinking!!! It has been so long since I used it, I can't remember if it lights up only during use or not. Send me PM with address and I'll send a copy of XE Term if you would like.
  19. Kinda sneaky if you ask me. He does say "as pictured" but you obviously can't see the top of the box in the pic. I, myself, would let him know that you were displeased that the box wasn't intact. See if he will refund a couple of dollars.
  20. Make sure to re-solder the SIO connectors as these were very fragile on the XF551. This may be your problem. I had to do the same on one of mine.
