  1. Nice lot @Allan ! Great to see that those tapes will be preserved!
  2. No, not at all. I am now using my second ION Tape Express. I have used my first one very extensively for about 4 years and then the play head came loose. As they are so cheap (especially second hand) I did not try to repair it and bought another one. This one I am using for about 2 years now and it is still going strong.
  3. I know you did not ask me But I use this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ION-Audio-Portable-Converter-Conversion/dp/B002XZGUPY In my experience these kind of cheap tape devices create better results for atari cassette tapes than an Hi-Fi tapedeck with a separate USB audio converter (which I also used, but got worse results).
  4. Excellent audio quality @djrodderz ! I was able to create a cas-file from your dump, thank you! @Farb Can your guys clean this cas-file, so you will have a second copy to verify the dump of my cassette. Thanks again @djrodderz 👍👍👍 cybernome_djrodderz.cas
  5. I have been in contact with the author on facebook last week. A copy of Brik-bat turned up on Ebay. After I lost the auction I found out it was bought by the original author, who did not have a copy. I have asked him to dump the tape for preservation, I hope he will!
  6. Yes, use your USB cassette capture device with Audacity (open source software). Record the audio as stereo WAV-file and make sure the datatrack (the beeps) is on the right channel. Marceau made a great tutorial: https://www.atarinside.com/blog/index.php/tutorial-how-to-dump-an-old-atari-cassettetape-to-a-cas-or-wav-file/ You can skip the a8cas part. Creating the WAV-files will be sufficient for the a8cas specialists in the preservation projects
  7. I think the preservation sites use my dump. Your dump can be used to verify my dump
  8. I dumped mine a few months ago. The Atarimania rarity is quite subjective. I bought this tape for just a few (under 5) pounds 🙂
  9. I have to take a look at the mechanism of the XC-11 to be sure, but it sounds like a belt problem indeed. I will open up mine and let you know.
  10. Good question 🙂 Here in Europe it depends on the company who sells them. But normally it is the total length, so in this case 2 x 12cm. More info here: https://www.vintage-electronics.net/howtomeasurebelts.aspx
  11. It is too hard to see if the belt is still okay..... sorry But.... let us first check something else. I have opened my Japanese 1010. If you pull out the mechanism (a lot of screws, but you need to open it for exchanging the belt anyway) you can see a small gear in the middle. When you rewind the gear goes to the left to make contact with the bigger gear on the left. When you forward (or play) the gear makes contact to the right big gear. Can you check if your mechanism still is okay? I have measured the belt I use and it is a 12 centimeter one. You can buy a small assortment of belts on Aliexpress or you can search locally for a 12 cm one. Good luck!
  12. Sizes are stated in this topic: But as long as you don't have the flat-belt Hong Kong version I recommend buying a small lot of different sizes at Aliexpress. All those sellers on Ebay and webshops (including my webshop lol 🤣) buy these lots. You can fix several 1010 recorders with one lot for a lot less than the ready made sets. I have replaced the belts of over 30 1010 recorders, you don't need the exact size. Here is an example of a lot on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000029357977.html
  13. It is probably (still) the belt. After 20 years it is definitely degraded. The 1010 uses 1 belt for normal operations and 1 belt solely for the tape counter. Rewinding is much less hard for the 1010 than forwarding. Do you know which model you have? There are 2 different Hong Kong models (square belt and flat belt) and the Japan model. I
  14. I have listened to your WAV-file. Atari tapes are in stereo with the data track on the right channel and (when available) an audio track on the left channel. Most software don't have an audio track and then a mono dump is okay. In this case there is an audio track, so your dump needs to be in stereo The audio quality of your dump is okay, but quite loud. I don't think there is clipping in your WAV-file, but I think you should lower the volume a little bit I hope you can dump the tape again in stereo 🙂
  15. I also found this advert in the same issue of Atari User.
  16. Myke33t also started an Ebay auction for "Smart Art" by PF Software. The packaging and cassette label of this one don't look like homebrew, but PF Software titles were mail order only. For example Smart Art was reviewed in issue one of Atari User (UK). Don't try to find it on Ebay, I bought it a few minutes ago 😆 I will dump the tape to share with the numerous preservation projects.
  17. As mentioned further in the Antix thread (it was not possible to edit the opening post), Antix creates a Pal-60 signal in a PAL machine with a NTSC Antic and a NTSC-50 signal (not Pal-M) when a PAL antic is put in a NTSC machine. Only a small number of displays can display a NTSC-50 signal. For a full PAL signal in an NTSC machine a PAL GTIA and crystals are needed.
  18. Great music pieces! I think the third one is quite good. Reminds me of The Prodigy.
  19. No, Dutch programmers should be interviewed. I did nothing special. And my accent is only reserved for Dutch people 😁
  20. Erm.... https://demozoo.org/sceners/35273/
  21. I already read the google translation when it was published in Polish Nice to see some Dutch people get interviewed 👍 Atmus was never released. F#ready and I were very surprised when we found a ready made cover in the remains of ANG Software. We did not know that it was already made. As F#ready already stated in the interview: "Yeb (SolarSystems) worked on a music editor called ‘Atmus’. I still have the source code, but he did not even remember he ever made such a thing." he has a copy of the unfinished source code. In the remains of ANG Software are a lot of sources and some prototypes but not of Atmus.
  22. Nice interview! I think F#ready perfectly explains the Dutch scene in the end of the 80's and early ninenties. Oh, we just discovered the cover (made by ANG Software) of Atmus 😁
  23. This is a reproduction cart, no doubt about it.... sorry
  24. When you convert your tapes to WAV-files, Altirra can load the data and audio track. You can copy the wav-file to any cassette to make a new copy
