I've been collecting since 95-96 and I've never seen this. Waterworld has pretty much always sold around the $100 mark. I've seen it go for as little as $60.00 and as much as $150.00 but it seems to stay close to the $100 barrier. I bought 3 Waterworlds near the $60 barrier in the year 2001. Its down right now, will it stay down or rebound? I dunno. Err I don't remember this either. When was this? If you want to track the value of these go right ahead. Mind you there are more titles and more copies of each title means many more sales. Long story short......too much work for me. I'll just settle with these 10 which almost never sell in the first place. Adam

You paid $59.50 plus $3.85 shipping too ? WOW What are the odds of that. Adam

There may be 10,000,000 people you can find who won't pay X ammount for a game but the seller isn't concerned with them just the 1 or 2 or 20 who will. As for this thread, its not meant to be bragging contest although thats fun too and happens quite a bit on these forums. This is just meant to chart the most expensive games and get everyone "in the know" to agree on them and see what happens next year. Are they going up? Are they going down? By how much? How fast? Should a video game be worth 100 bucks? 1000 bucks? 5000 bucks? I dunno..... Should a comic book or a baseball card be worth $1,000,000 bucks? How about a stamp? or a coin? or even a stock or house or a car? Us not talking about it does not stop it from happening. Nor does a reporting of games sold for increase the value of these games. Video Life sold for 3k without many people knowing about it and then another sold for 3k. Both without a reported value of 3k posted on a message board. Video games are a part of our culture and history. I believe rare and desirable games will continue to appreciate in value over the long term. There has been much debate as to the fluctuation of these prices in the past 5 or 10 years on forums such as this. I'd like to set it down on e-paper so to speak to help us come to a less subjective (if possible) tracking of these transactions over time. The number of collectors who normally wouldn't spend more than 50 bucks on an Atari game outnumber the heavy hitters by as much as 100 to 1 or more. Yet chances are the next rare and valuable game WILL BE FOUND by such a collector. Believe it or not, those 5 or 6 guys who spend the most aren't the only ones finding all these games in the wild. If anything those collectors with little or less experience have the most to benefit on such a discussion. Should they happen to find one of these games. Afterall ,the guys who spend this kind of money ALREADY have a pretty good idea what the going rate is. Believe it or not a Video Life was sold at the World of Atari show for $5.00 Yes thats F I V E dollars. Lets ask him if such a discussion might be helpfull to the smaller collector. Adam
-
Do you have all their names ? I think I do. I think there are about 5-6 people who have already spent more than 2k on an Atari 2600 game. As for 1k there are more than 10 and if you add people who might spend 1k should you catch them at the right time with the right item it could be as many as 50 or 100. Guys who filled out most of the 8s and 9s who happen to have the extra cash at the moment or have a means to sell other items to raise the cash. Ok list updated to reflect your input. I'm pretty comfortable with the list right now. How do you guys feel about it. What about you Wiz what do you think? Adam

What I am looking for is a snapshot in time. To accurately give the values we might expect the next copy available to sell for should it sell in the immediate future. Marco, I know you believe that these games will slowly creep out of the woodwork and slowly sell for less and less. What better way to gauge this theory than to state their current pricing and match it up with future sales. If next year at this time we can agree that a price has increased or decreased I'd like to be able to compare it with our previous findings. Honestly, I really belive that in the long term even if a few extras pop up they can't compete with the potential increase in future collectors. Again only over time can this be charted and proven or disproven. Well Marco NES Gold NWCs have already sold for as much as $6,500.00. The price we came up with was that of 4k which puts it into a tie with a complete Air Raid. 1. Kizuna Encounter Neo Geo European Test Cartridge ($8,000) 2. 2600 Air Raid complete ($4,000) NES NWC gold cart ($4,000) Ultimate 11 Neo Geo (Super Sidekicks 4) ($4,000) 5. Video Life complete ($3,000) 6. Metal Slug Neo Geo ($2,500) 7. 2600 Ultravision Karate complete ($2,000) 2600 Gauntlet complete ($2,000) 9. Quiz Chibi Deluxe Neo Geo Japanese ($1,800) 10. 2600 Coke vs Pepsi complete ($1,600) runners up NES NWC grey $1,500 2600 Malagai complete $1,500 2600 Eli's Ladder complete $1,500 2600 Virtual Bowling complete $1,200 These prices do not reflect price changes I need to make to reflect buyer inputs.

Marco you dropped the price on EVERY game. I didn't think I was that off. Also these are prices right now this second not speculated down the road after 2-3 have sold on ebay prices. If after 2-3 sell and the price drops then you adjust the price list. ok I will respond to these and see if we can get this list to one we all agree on. $3000 Air Raid complete $4,000 Air Raid is pretty damn rare. I am aware of a collector willing to pay 5k for this. I think you would get AT LEAST 2k for a loose one and I'm pretty sure 1 of the two guys who bought the last Video Lives would be willing to pay a bit more for this one. Willing to listen to what others say on this one. $2000 Video Life complete $3,000 Gotta stick with 3k here. Two seperate copies sold back to back for 3k. Now that all available copies are in die hard collectors hands one can only estimate the price has gone up not down. There are a very limited number and I don't know anyone who owns this who would sell for 2k. $900 Ultravision Karate complete $2,000 No way. A loose cart would sell for more than $900.00. $1750 Gauntlet complete $2,000 Ehh I dunno about Gauntlet. Never seen or heard about one selling. What do the rest of you think. $1000 Coke vs Pepsi complete $1,600 $1600 was what I felt I'd pay and I think I'd be outbid $1000 is way too low. Still I'd like to hear what others say on this one. $1000 Malagai complete $1,500 $1000 is a bit low $1500 might be a bit high hows about $1300 or 1400. Two copies in past year both sold for more than 1k $1000 Eli's Ladder complete $1,500 I'd like to hear what others think on this one as well but how much did that loose copy just for? $1000 for a complete copy is too low. $900 Lockjaw complete $1,200 I can't see a complete Lockjaw selling for 900. The lowest I'd price this at is 1k. $750 Magicard complete $1,000 I wouldn't have problems dropping this one. This one seems to sell for less and less each time. Possibly due to all the repos $600 Quadrun complete $1,000 $600 for a complete Quadrun? Well it isn't as rare as we first thought HOWEVER it is the rarest released Atari 1st Party title and a very popular one at that. I think complete copies will retain there value even if many copies are found. $900 River Patrol complete $1,000 I'd be willing to drop this one. This one is funny it seems to jump quite a bit. Also what about Tooth Protectors. Whats a complete tooth protectors worth? Adam

Stuck with a clear Aquaventure for the 2600, anyone want it?
Buyatari replied to CPUWIZ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
$25.00 ? I'll take it if its still available. I've been looking forward to the day I'd get to check out your work CPU. It does look kick ass. Adam -
I don't think the complete copy has gone down just a loose copy. Adam
-
I'm not a PAL collector and well I doubt I'll ever cross that line because once you do you can't go back and I spend enough as it is. Still I'm curious what the PAL holy grails. What is the single most expensive PAL game or item for the 2600.
-
For the record my copy is still sealed So it should be buyatari (S)
-
Ok we will say complete pricing not loose not shrinkwrapped. No protos but special carts like Coke wins would count. I'll start an updated list at the top of the thread. Adam

They did send a letter to someone who had a copy of Resident Evil 1.5 for N64. He hadn't spread the rom. He just sent out pictures and let people know he had it on his message board. He was told to send them 4k for legal fees plus the game or face the consequences. I tried to get him to do a bait and switch before he sent it back but it was a nogo. He backed down to Nintendo. To me thats besides the point. Yes you could have it leak out and no one be able to prove it was you. But I want to address the real issue here. If someone owns a game then its up to them. If they feel like sharing then fine if not thats up to them. What about the guy who pays 4k for that prototype of a never dumped unreleased game. Does he owe it to everyone else to dump it ? If the guy he bought it from dumped it he could have gotten that 4k proto for much less, more like 1k. If he has financial trouble down the road and sells it are you going to chip in and help him raise the other 3k? I'm still curoius how anyone can think that this guy OWES it to anyone. How he is now obligated to release the rom and reduce the value of the game he just bought by a large margin. Guy spends 4k on a game and keeps it and now he is greedy. This is why people don't even bother to announce what they have found and share pictures. They don't want to deal with this and I don't blame them. I know you want to play them. I know you want to have the ROM. I want to have sex with the Victoria Secret's supermodels while riding around drunk on Air Force One. Thats life. We all want things. Some of which we can't have. Thats greed. If they share great if they don't then they don't. Most collectors I have known are more than happy to let you examine their prototypes if you can manage to hook up with them at one of the big gaming events. You are the greedy one if you expect others to pay thousands of dollars for the these items and then let everyone else play for free. Adam

Vectrex isn't your normal game system they are very fragile and break often in shipment when not packed extremely carefully. If the guy is working with you I wouldn't leave a negative. Adam

Ahh for a minute there, I thought he was talking about me. Adam

Sorry I really wasn't trying to push my beliefs here. Just wasn't sure EVERYONE was aware that they are bootlegs. I thought once people realized they were bootlegs they would lose interest in them as anything but a novality. Honestly, I was naive. I had no idea people would still be willing to pay several hundred dollars a pop after they discovered this. I really thought that the only reason these carts were still selling for so much was that people just weren't aware exactly what they were buying. Seriously, my post was meant to inform not to preach. So yes by all means buy up every one you find. I won't tell you what to collect or what not to collect. Collect what you enjoy. You'll be happy that I have no interest in these when it comes time to bid and I'll be happy when we have to compete on something we both want after you spent all your money buying BB carts.

Infocom Suspended - Original Packaging Atari 800
Buyatari replied to Callipygous's topic in Auction Central
Starcross sells for the most as it was released before Suspended. There are lots of cool rairties for Infocom collectors but only these two were produced in these types of boxes. Suspended isn't too tough to find if you look for it you can find them. I picked up a shinkwrapped one for around $200.00 but if you see a shrinkwrapped Starcross........ well just let me know Here .....have a look around this place http://infocom.elsewhere.org/gallery/ Adam -
Come on You guys are talking about someone making bootleg copies of a bootleg. Who cares? What if the seller is the same person who made this knockoffs 20 years ago. If the original bootleger ever sees what these things are selling for I wouldn't doubt if he did. Why not? Its not worth more then any other knockoff. Sure I'd pick one up for $5.00 or $10.00 but if someone offered me $20+ it would be gone in a second. Honestly, don't waste your money on these (either the fake fakes or real fakes) save it for when there is something of real value.

760 IS WAY TOO HIGH I'd sell mine for $750 shipped. Adam
-
I bought something and never got it. Paypal was unable to recover the funds so I filed with eBay. There is a $25 dedectable and you can only file so many cases (2 maybee) a year. So yeah you are protected with eBay to a point but its A PAIN to get your money back.. Adam

First off it has nothing to do with Phillyclassic. Second ECGX wont just have PS2 junk it will have some classic junk as well We are currently working on getting some Atari programmers as guest speakers and the museum will have a wide range of items from prototype Atari units (Atari 2000, Atari 2700, System X, Gold plated Atari) to a prototype Ngage unit with many in between. Of course you can't have a game show without a classic arcade and that will be there too. This is our first show and I've never done this before so if there is anything in particular you'd like to see just let me know and I'll try my best to make it happen. Adam

Man 760 I think its time to sell Adam

Guys sells a McDonalds monopoly card for $1,8725.00 and HE is the moron? Might be a scammer but I wouldn't say he is the moron in this picture. Adam
