I do think its safe to say that anyone willing to spend 2k on this cart already has it. I still do not own this cart not because it hasn't poped up just because I think it was overpriced. I'd consider buying a complete copy for around $800.00 and I think the buyer got a decent deal on this cart. It is pretty rare. Adam

Bucket of Scum Copies My Brother's Auction
Buyatari replied to Atari Rescue Group's topic in Auction Central
I never said it was right or wrong or ok or not ok nor did I say I approved or disapproved of the behavior. I only said "Why should you care?" I guess if it happened to me I'd say "Ha look at that. He copied my auction." I'd think it was neat and then that would be the end. In the end its really the "theft" thing we disagree on. Basiclly ebay is just an internet want ad. This isn't a paper or a book or a music record. When people bid they do not bid on the actuall written text and digital pictures in the eBay ad. After the auction is over you don't mail them a copy of text you have written. You mail them the item your text was describing. The text is merely a tool. A copied book or piece of music is considered theft because it has a value. Newspapers pay for articles and music publishers pay for new music. Your written material while painstaking and part of your sale process is worthless. Something tangable or of saleable value has to be taken to be considered theft. Until you start a business offering just to write the text for others eBay auctions and actually had people willing to pay for this service I can't concede that it is theft. A theft of zero dollars and zero cents is not theft. If you copied a want ad or garage sale ad or personals ad in the paper word for word and just changed your address on the end would that be wrong? Original ad SATURDAY MAY 3RD ONLY - HUGE GARAGE SALE. EVERYTHING MUST GO. MOVING AWAY. LOST JOB 5876 Blake Rd. Your ad SATURDAY MAY 10RD ONLY - HUGE GARAGE SALE. EVERYTHING MUST GO. MOVING AWAY. LOST JOB 2090 North Ave. I dunno thats a philosophy debate. Would this be considered plagerism? Possibly, I'll have to look up the definition. Would this be considered theft and could you sue for damages? No, because nothing of monetary value or material substance was taken and no one suffered any damages. I take that back. You could sue. You just wouldn't win. Would this be ok? Ok meaning what? Meaning no one would get hurt or suffer in any way from it? If thats what ok means then yeah I guess it would be ok. Should anyone care if their want ad is copied word for word? I wouldn't think so but I guess I'm wrong. I guess for some reason it does bother you and nothing I can say will make it not bother you so I think we should stop this thead before I start to bother you Its totally your right to be upset at whatever you want and its my right to be totaly mystified by why you are and I doubt either of us will change. Bucket of Scum Copies My Brother's Auction
Buyatari replied to Atari Rescue Group's topic in Auction Central
I'm not going to debate right and wrong. I am just asking why anyone would care. If it doesn't affect you and in this case it doesn't then let it go. Ok you don't like the newspaper example so how about this one. You walk into the bank and open the door. The guy behind you speeds up and grabs the door before it closes. Do you now get upset because he didn't have to open the door and you did? How about if the guy was so lazy that he would wait for you to enter before he slid in behind you? Its obvious that this guy uses anothers enegy to his benefit and yet the person expends no more energy than he would had no one slid in behind him. Comparing your eBay auction to a work of art goes a little far but I'll argue the point. As far as music rights go music industry people care because it affects them in several ways, all financially. 1. Other music is in direct competetion with sales. 2. They charge for for this service. If you could get it for free then no one would buy it. 3. It can affect the image of the original artist or parent company (sometimes good sometimes bad) but image is directly related to profitablity in the music industry. None of these came into play with your auction your auction. This guy won't tarnish your image or reduce the money in your pocket or even future potential money. Yes, you did spend time getting your auction worded but that time and enegy was spent the minute you posted your auction. It was spent no matter what happens afterwords and nothing will change that. This guy only takes up more time and energy when you let him burn you up. Adam -
Here are my Commavids. Here is a second shot. As you see I am missing 2 but have one most do not. Adam

Buyatari replied to smile_walle's topic in Auction Central

Bucket of Scum Copies My Brother's Auction
Buyatari replied to Atari Rescue Group's topic in Auction Central
You guys have too much time on your hands. We can all agree the guy is lazy. But who cares? Does it bother you THAT much that someone used your description or pictures? If you had 100 of these and the guy was using your description or your picture in direct competetion with you then it may affect you. I could then see your point but your auction is over , hopefully you have been paid and the picture and description were never to be used again. Its like throwing away the newspaper and seeing someone pull it out of the trash. " What a scumbag ! Why don't they buy their own paper ! " I fail to see how this affects you in any way. There are too many reasons in life that justify getting upset over just let it go this is no big deal, your blood pressure will thank you for it. Adam -
I'm glad to see it has dropped. Its not even a game. It is a programming tool. The Atari market is too new to nail down a price on carts like this one but even with its rarity I'd say $800 or so is a good price and maybee 1k or so would be fair if the cart had been in a casing. It was a very over-hyped cart. It was bound to fall. 2k is way way too much thats what I paid for my Atari 2000 !!! Adam

If I am not mistaken Magicards have come down quite a bit in value since then. Maybee that was the last time this version sold on ebay but its not the last time a Magicard was sold. Its really a speciality item. Like the color bar generator once the few who really want it pay their dues the price is sure to come down. 2k is crazy. It is rare but its not a "real game" Adam

Hey if you feel people are going to try to get the seller to sell early you had best beat them to it. I compare it to a dance. 6 guys are eyeing up the hotest girl in the place. They know in a couple songs "Ladies choice" is coming up and they are all waiting nervously across the room. Well one guy doesn't wait and he asks her to meet behind the dumpster for some high school lovin right there and then and YES believe it or not she goes. Ladies choice comes along and she is now where to be found. After the 5 guys find out what happened they kick their friends ass but he doesn't care. He came home with the prize. Its in our human nature to try to get the seller to sell early or try whatever "tricks" as you call it along the way. As long as people are legal and do not decieve I have no problems with any of this. When it comes to rare games, its not who has the most money who gets it, its who wants it most. Adam

I'd like to see Nintendo go down for one reason and one reason only. They are soo tight with their product. 1st party Nintendo prototypes just never surface. If it ever happens while I'm alive I'll be fighting Curt Vendel for elbow room in the dumpsters. Adam

This is how Best Electronics gets their systems.
Buyatari replied to CPUWIZ's topic in Auction Central
Sure they can but that doesn't change the fact that they affect the market value of the real ones. You yourself posted a real one at least once on eBay and also felt the effects of the fake Quadruns. ] Did you ever end up selling it on eBay? What was the whole story. You can't tell me you wouldn't have gotten more bids and more money for such an item had Best Electroincs never sold fake copies. I remember the first time you posted it it didn't meet reserve because of several reasons. 1. Some collectors have the Best version and think they have the real deal so they no longer are in the market for one. and 2. Some collectors are afraid every Quadrun proto they see is a Best Copy and don't even bother to look. and 3. Some think Quadrun protos are very common and cheap and won't bid high when they have seen them sell cheap in the past. Adam -

Whats the difference? I don't see it. I have 2 Ballys I found in the wild and they both look like this one to me. Adam -

Buyatari replied to CPUWIZ's topic in Auction Central
I agree with you guys. Fixing systems and selling them is actually a service. A high priced service but still a service providing the maximum number of systems for gamers. I do, however, have a problem with the fake protos they sell or used to sell, or sometimes sell and sometimes run out till they print up more to sell. God forbid if you actually own a "REAL" Quadrun proto. Its now worth squat. Adam -

This is no suprize to me. That reminds me. Its almost time for another run of Quadrun protos. The guys at Best Electronics are slackin. Adam -
I would NEVER NEVER open it. Some people out there have complete copies NO ONE has a sealed copy. CPU is right I have a couple loose carts. In fact at one point I had 5-6 loose Malagais. No big deal but a sealed copy is a big deal. I finally mailed Mark Androvich the one I owed him so I'm down to 2 or 3. I haven't checked since I moved exactly how many I have left but it doesn't matter they are all loose. Game isn't worth playing either. Save it like it is. The slit is just small enough to slide a business card in. Consider it sealed with a small tear in the shrinkwrap. Its still sealed. Adam

Bernstein Bears was once considered a TEN by most collectors. To find one in the wild still is still a feat but with the cases and cases of sealed new in box Bernstein Bears discovered it might rate a 7 or maybee an 8 but no longer a 9. Adam

Odyssey3 Prototype Voice Module for sale!
Buyatari replied to vespertillio's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Could someone fill me in on the Odyssey 3. Not the history of the unit so much but the marketplace history. I can't say I remember seeing any Ody3 items exchange hands. What do items like this sell for. Or maybee I should say what have items like this sold for in the past. I really like an Ody3 unit. How many of those are out there? Adam -
Group one has been sold. (pending payment arrival) Sure I can send pics. Send me an email and I'll send you pics of anything you want to see. Adam

It seems most people are interested in the same carts. I really want to get rid of them all. If I could only sell a few I think I'd just as soon keep them all. So I have deceided to offer these in 3 lots. If you just want a couple from a lot maybee you can go in with someone and split it up $500 each for 5 protos. Lot 1 Soccer 2-8-83 (incomplete) Bermuda Triangle #371 Crash Dive (it does have a label just handwritten label underneath says Voyage) Enduro Pengo (earlier copyright different ttile screen) Lot 2 Jungle Hunt 3-28 Piece O' Cake 12/3/82 Barnstorming PAL Joust Gremlins or Krull (Its one of these I need to power it up) Lot 3 Bermuda Triangle #443 PAL Frong and Flies TAZ (different title screen) Dolphin Sorcerer 3-28-83
