  1. SS: The comic market collapsed because people stopped buying new comics. They raped the collectors and collectors bought stuff just to horde it. Well, when everyone keeps something it just isn't worth anything. The old comics continue to appreciate in value despite this. Due to high demand and low supply. Atari was the first system to change the world but some children did still play with Gi Joe, read comics and buy baseball cards instead. I was one of them. Nintendo marked the time when there was nothing else. If you were a child you played Nintendo or ....well you were a child. What else was there for a child to do in the 90's. Another aspect is that comic collecting was rooted in childhood. People bought what they had and lost or never had as a child. Children don't read comics or play with toys as they did in the 60's. They play video games. Today no children I know of read comics and they don't play with action figures or buy baseball cards. When they grow up its possible to concieve that video game collecting will grow overnight. As far as collecting goes. Most items seems to have gone down in value since I started collecting while a few have held the same value for 8 years. CTCW was a 300 cart at one time belive it or not. Ebay has found a way to bring all the games out there into the light and the number of new collectors just hasn't been able to keep up with this. Quadrun is the rarest Atari made game for the 2600 which is why it is overdemanded. Many people try to collect every Atari made game first before setting off against the sea of 3rd party releases. I really think it should be a 9 along with Music Machine but thats my opionion. I had a mint complete Quadrun which I split up in trades. The box and instructions went towards prototype hardware and the cart went towards an Eli's Ladder. Cash was involved in both of these transactions but even the most devote 2600 collectors will consider selling a holy grail if they can get a piece of Quadrun. I do still have my shrinkwrapped copy though Adam
  2. Ok I got a complete list of titles there was less than 80 I think here were 74-76 titles. Anyway if you friend can get ahold of some of these disks I'd be happy to compensate you for them. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get you a list of the ones I need. Adam
  3. I offered quite a bit on the Lord of the Rings box and was denied. I can assure you if you do get it it won't be cheap. Adam
  4. What about the System X and the Atari 5100 which PSs do these use? Adam
  5. I have a few prototypes of Thrill Kill in varius stages however I still don't have a PS2 test unit so I can't be sure ifit would work on a PS2. However, there were only 6 or 7 games out of the entire PS1 library that had problems so I would say chances are high it would work on a PS2. Adam
  6. There were a ton of these floaing around last summer. The good ones have 100 or so unique games in them. Any more and you will get 100 variations of the same game. These bootleg famicom clones can be in the shape of N64 controllers, DC controllers and even Playstation controllers. There are many different styles. They sometimes have a port for famicom carts and take either batteries or and AC adapter. They can be had for $10 or less and aren't a bad deal if you want to enjoy some of the old NES games cheaply. Adam
  7. I have been to get ahold of about 40 disks and I'm only about half way there. I love to be able to get a complete listing of the other Lightspan PSX titles they produced. Adam
  8. @Tempest - This could be another reason why FF Tactics 2 wasn't released. It might not have been compatible withthe PS2. Adam
  9. I have yet to see a PS1 list thats even close. Lightspan was licensed to produce more titles for the PS1 than any other publisher yet no PS1 listing includes a single game of theirs. Adam
  10. There is a complete list of PS1 games which are incompatable with the PS2 in some way on the SCEA web site. There are around 7 the most notable are. FF tactics? Judge Dread and Silent Hill I know people have played FF Tactics on the PS2 so maybee they fixed it for the Greatest hits version? Any other ideas here? Adam
  11. I sure hope the quality control has gotten better since Bugs Bunny. Great game don't get me wrong but they could have spent a little more time/money putting together a nicer box and label. I was pumped up going to the Philly show expecting to find something on par with Elevator Action and Combat 2 but was disapointed and ended up passing on the game. I just bought a best electronic proto of Holy Moley too.. <sigh> Ohh well.... if they do a nice job on the box I'll buy it anyway. Adam
  12. If you are going to assign a rarity to every bootleg ever made then you need to seperate them somehow from the rest. There are quite a few out there. I think it needs its own section. All bootlegs were produced in much smaller quantity than their released conterparts. If previously unseen bootlegs of Donkey Kong and Frogger turn up on ebay tomorrow should we automticly rate these 10s. If we do a search for all NTSC games with a 10 rating should Beagle Brothers Basketball turn up in the same search as Magicard? Hey anyone want to trade me Quadrun for this bootleg Frogger? Its rarer. Most collectors who strive for a complete NTSC collection won't try for each bootleg ever made. Placing them there just bogs up finding information. I have always classifed Atari games in this manner. NTSC released , PAL released , Prototypes , Bootlegs and homebrews. Adam
  13. I came across a huge collection (50+) of PSX protos. The protos are in NTSC format and while many of the games were released in Europe most were not released in the US. I haven't been able to track down these last few. Does anyone know if these titles were released overseas? 360 Battle Arena Toshinden 4 Starcon Adam
  14. Al, The seller did just that last time and a bunch of jokers bid it up knowing the reserve wouldn't be met. I know how much the seller paid for this cart and believe it or not he just wants to break even. If can't get what he paid for it he won't sell. So it doesn't matter to him what it would sell for on the open market. Adam
  15. I am curious if anyone here has used the developers unit for the PSX. I have heard it was just a board + cd drive installed into a PC. Anybody here have personal experience? Adam
  16. I didn't see much in the first half of the auction that I could use. I rarely miss a second of an auction but I left early to secure a deal for Eli's Ladder. Does anyone have the results of the auction? I'd love to see what was sold and how much it was sold for. Adam
  17. Its funny this should up, but just this past weekend I bought/traded for an Eli's Ladder at Philly. I made a decent ammount at the show selling stuff so I said what the heck. I ended up with Eli's Ladder with instructions all charts and the stickers He got 2600 Quadrun loose (thats why I now have box/instructins for trade) 2600 Qbert Qubes (was traded in my store for 25 cents trade) and 1000 bucks. I had a hard time giving up the Quadrun esp since I paid 1000 for the complete copy but in the end I just couldn't leave Philly wthout Eli's. Its tough enough to be able to say you have Eli's Ladder. Being able to say you got one for a "reasonable" price is almost impossible. I guess thats what $$$ stands for. Adam
  18. No not the Net Yaroze kit. I'm talking about the developers kit that Activision and EA must purchase from Sony in order to program games for the PSX. Adam
  19. I was told by Al(of DP fame)that it came in a plastic baggie and never had a box. Adam
  20. I have gotten a few emails on this and I wasn't too clear in my first post. I AM interested in trades in fact I'd rather have a trade for an item that is tough to find than the cash. Adam
  21. I had to give up a copy of Quadrun at Philly in a trade for Eli's ladder but I was able to keep the box and instructions. Now that the cart is gone I don't see the point of keeping an extra box and instructions. If someone here can use the empty box ard/or instructions you can email me for pics. They are both in great shape. Adam
  22. I owned a prototype of Polo a few year ago. Some old lady living in New York "collected" Atari games since they first came out. I guess it helped her with her arthritis. Anyway when they first marketed the POLO collone 6-8 copies of Polo were sent to Bloomingdales in NY to promote it. Somehow this lady ended up with one of the carts maybee they gave the games away after the promotion. She died and someone traded all her games into a local Video Game store. I picked up POLO for $20.00 but the handwritten instructions were nowhere to be found. I really din't think the game was slated for release. It was just used for promotion as far as I knew. Adam
  23. Ok I see Quadrun and whats that other Atari brand game. Swordquest Waterworld??? Adam
  24. The NWC didn't sell sine the reserve wasn't met. The resereve was said to be at 6.5-7k whatever price the seller had purchased the game for. It was one of the 26 gold carts. The grey ones sell from time to time and sell for much less. The rarest 10 NES games besies NWC and protos in my mind? Stadium Events 3 x-rated Panesian games Secret Scout Menace Beach Flinstones 2 Little Samson Stack-up (complete) Trolls on Crackhead Island Adam
  25. These M2s have been nothing but a huge pain in my side since I first got one. I have most of what you need now but I had to track down people from all over the globe to get it. I have 2 M2 units, 1 M2 mem card, 2 M2 demo disks,at least 2 "Prototype M2" controllers, 1 installation guide,2 different M2 demo disks,1 M2 utilities disk, 2 M2 Mac boards ver G and H one which looks like it need a little board work. I also have the original shipping box with a M2 development system sticker on the outside. Plus cords out the ying yang. Now all I need to power up is a Power Mac and I don't have one. I don't have room for one and after all the trouble this thing has caused me tracking down the varius pieces I'm ready to give it the heave ho. I don't even collect 3DO!! What am I doing with this!?!?! Problem is I paid lotso. I was working on a trade with one of the M2s for an Atari 2000. But like I said I have 2 of them so one is still up for grabs. Adam
