  1. I got the vintage TI/Atari converter. It looks really cool, nice and chunky. Now we just need something to test it with...
  2. Nice. I managed to win it with one bid, so I hope to pay for it tomorrow and earn enough money, later this week, to get a pair of joysticks for it.
  3. So, having tested either the original Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man on the multicart we got for trade from arcadeshopper (forgot which one I played), I like it very much, but I can see how it can be seen as slow, especially with the incredibly squishy and spongy TI joysticks. No wonder people want to get adapters to use the Atari 2600 controllers with it...
  4. Right now, my boyfriend and I are storing all of our TI items in a big blue storage bin, with the cartridges as a bed for the other items, but that's not safe or economical. I'm curious what you guys would suggest for a storage space for us to put the cartridges in?
  5. https://www.ebay.com/itm/TI-99-4A-9-pin-joystick-adapter-made-in-Taiwan-for-Atari-etc-joysticks/163736605490?hash=item261f765332:g:kDoAAOSwKeldBTbK&frcectupt=true This seems to be interesting as a joystick adapter. Might try to bid on it, myself, if it works. https://www.bonanza.com/booths/exiletoledo?item_sort_options[custom_category_id]=628416&item_sort_options =9&s=12472 Also, this guy seems to have quite a few TI stuff in stock, mostly games, though I did see a vintage y-cable adapter.
  6. This is probably why: “ It has been cited as an early example of the survival horror genre, and was listed in 2012 on Time's All-Time 100 greatest video games list. The Wumpus monster has appeared in several forms in media since 1973,” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Now that's interesting, didn't know survival horror as a game concept went back that far.
  7. Hunt the Wumpus seems unique to me, even by today's game standards; I mean, you're the one hunting the monster, not the other way around, and the fact that you need to use clues and avoid traps to do so and that you only get one shot makes it kind of nerve-wracking, to a point. I've never really seen another game out there that has the premise of "You are here, in a maze, you are actively hunting down a monster that will kill you if you don't kill it, first, and you've got one shot to do it with. Good luck." I honestly can see a remake done with a Minotaur myth setting or something.
  8. I feel there should be a poll here for rating the games, and have the results sent to Ashens on Youtube to help him with his next Terrible Old Games You've Probably Never Heard Of book. I know he has a TI for testing these games on, so it would be worthwhile to direct him to some of them for analysis for his next book.
  9. I'll have to talk with my boyfriend about it, and wait to get a check in the mail, but we'd be down for getting it, if no one grabs it, beforehand.
  10. How good is Pole Position on the TI? It's one of the new games we're being offered, and my boyfriend thinks he heard it isn't that great, but I would like to get you guys' opinions.
  11. The one I was linked to, before, only had the game cartridges listed, not the non-game ones, as well, so this'll help.
  12. That's kinda my opinion, too; it doesn't look as appealing, visually, as Pac-Man, and while I'm not going to dismiss it outright, as a result, I'd still like to try out the official Pac-Man for TI, first, for a point of comparison. Then again, I do have fond memories of playing Pac-Man for the Atari 2600 as a kid, so I'm not that well-qualified to make a sound judgment on this... Does anyone have a list of the educational and non-game cartridges for the TI and their rarity? I'd like to compare what we have with that and see what people would be willing to get from us in exchange for some of the more common games.
  13. Yeah, looked up Q*Bert and Dig Dug, and both were going for at least $25 on ebay.
  14. I think you gave us Blasto. I know we have it, I just forgot to put it in the list. Thanks for those, btw. Okay, thanks. Let us know if you find any, and how much you'd like for us to pay for them.
  15. I see. Well, what games do you guys suggest for us to get, that are common or relatively common? We've got, right now: Parsec TI Invaders Donkey Kong Burgertime Munchman Jawbreaker 2 Super Demon Attack Car Wars Hunt the Wumpus Tunnels of Doom (got the hack going, but would like the audio tape) A-Maze-Ing Adventure (same as Tunnels of Doom) Alpiner Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator And thanks to Digdugnate, we're getting: Defender Centipede Pole Position Jungle Hunt
  16. It seems better than the Atari 2600 version, which is all I care about.
  17. Please note that by "extra stuff", I mainly mean the educational cartridges we have; we're going to be using the TI we have mainly for gaming, so we might be willing to trade away some of the educational ones we have for game cartridges.
  18. We have those two. TI Invaders looks interesting, but Munch Man, for me, doesn't have the charm of the Pac Man games.
  19. Yeah, 1986 was its release date. I did hear something about TI not liking third-party games, that much, so eh *shrugs*
  20. Okay, thanks. We're not looking for anything super rare, but anything that would be considered common to semi-common would be fine.
  21. Curious, I looked up computer games based on my favorite movie, Short Circuit (the one with Johnny 5). I found lots, that look rather interesting, but nothing for the TI. Is that due to the company's resistance to licensed games, that I've heard of them?
  22. That requires a 32k upgrade to the TI, right? We don't have one, and we're afraid of opening up the new one and tinkering with its circuitry, considering the last repair attempt. I know that website has the Atarisoft multicart, which doesn't need the expansion, and has Centipede and Ms. Pac-Man on it, as well, and we're planning on trading for that, but it's slow going.
  23. Thanks to the kind generosity of the people on here, my boyfriend and I have a lot of good games to play around with. However, there's a few more that we're looking to get for our collection. Nothing too expensive (like Ms. Pac-Man), just some TI remakes of classic arcade games, like Dig Dug, Pac-Man (the original) and Q*Bert. We're willing to trade away some of the extra stuff we have for them, or pay outright, depending on the price.
