  1. Can she hand deliver one to me On a serious note however I was going to get one but my car is having major issues... Hopefully you will have some left in a couple months...
  2. I was looking at PAL/NTSC monitors and it looks like they have some strange (to me) connector for video!! I think it's BNC. I am not familar with this at all. Is that an RF connection? It looked like it had "regular" S-video. But as far as the coax-looking inputs - how the heck do you hook an Atari to that? Also, is it possible this PAL 800XL has S-video (split composite)? I mean, if it's perhaps a "freddy" machine?? Once in a while I hear they had some last-manufactured 800XL that brought back the split composite - and that it coincides with the Freddy chip (and perhaps BASIC rev. C) but then I always see contradictions. Anybody know what is the REAL deal with PAL/freddy/split composite 800XL and if indeed all these features coexist? Thanks! It's a european style RF connector. Most places will send you a US version for free or for a small cost. I think mine came with it taped to the outside of the box. But I don't use it, I use the regular AV composite connectors.
  3. Make sure you quarantine those boards before you send them out
  4. I received my CX-40 Retrofit kit today and I have to say it's an awesome piece of kit. Super easy to install and the feel of the stick is just like the original. I think I prefer this to the retro joysticks as it has a much better tactile response. If you have a couple of dead CX-40's hanging around I would recommend picking up one or two of these.
  5. I sold one in Mint condition a year ago for $125. The two on Ebay have been up for a long time and keep getting relisted. The BIN is stupid high.
  6. I can highly recommend the MegaHZ upgrades, I have both the 512k and the 1meg and they work perfectly. and SUPER easy to install. Silly question, how do I order one. I don't understand a work on that site except 1mb you can't, they are sold out Strange, I got an email from Wolfram a few days ago quoting me for a second MegaMem. Anywho.. Try throwing that website into Google Translate
  7. I can highly recommend the MegaHZ upgrades, I have both the 512k and the 1meg and they work perfectly. and SUPER easy to install.
  8. hmmmm.... now I think I am going to have to take apart all my PAL machines and double check for Freddie.... I know my main PAL is not (I just upgraded it to Dual stereo and 1meg mammory)... But I have a suspicion that the unsocketed one may have freddie onboard (haven't had that one open for over 10 years)
  9. I have three Pal 800XL's 72RHA AT84 33925 I-444 72RHA AT84 126189 I-045 72RHA AT84 69289 I-494 All three are REV C, the first one is fully socketed, the second one has the main chips socketed and the last one has no sockets. I have yet to find a PAL Atari 800XL that isn't REV C (although I am sure they are out there)... None of hem are Freddie machines either
  10. The red screen means that the game hasn't loaded correctly (dirty cart slot, dirty cart edges, loose connector) The normal logo will show if the game loads correctly, after the spinning cube it generally goes to the loading screen for that game.
  11. sounds like a ST floppy drive PS. How many pins? any part number on it? Yeah I'll have to look when I get how though. There was a 520 ST in the lot of stuff I got, I suppose it could go to that. EDIT: after doing some research I've concluded that it must be the power supply for the 520ST. I always thought they were internal for some reason. Tempest The early 520 ST's had external PSU's

  13. Well I don't know about that, if there was a huge backlog, could take time to catch up (not that I'm condoning anything at all)
  14. Level 9 Released Colossal Cave individually and then followed on with Adventure Quest & Dungeon Adventure, later they compiled it into Jewels of Darkness. Colossal Cave was the first version of Colossal Cave to be made available as a commercial release for the Atari 8bit. This was an expanded version of the original Adventure by Will Crowther and Don Woods. The modifications are mostly an enlarged master endgame and a more detailed outside world. In the early versions there was no mention of it being the first part of a trilogy. The Original adventure game was never commercially released, although a lot of commercial adaptions of this game exist. The first version was written in Fortran which made it easy to convert it to new systems. (The Fortran linked earlier in this thread is the PDP-10 version I belive) The PDP-10 version only has six-bit character storage and thus is all uppercase. It took advantage of the full 36-bit architecture of the PDP-10 which made porting more difficult. It packed six six-bit "bytes" into a single word (and did comparisons on them!). The PDP-11 version (which required a new parser and rule-base in the porting) has upper/lower case and, reflecting the PDP-11's typical usage patterns, dispenses with the "hours of operation" notion of the cave being "closed".
  15. for what it's worth a friend of mine who doesn't come to AA got his 2600 back a couple days ago after about 9 months... He says the upgrade and everything is AMAZING...
  16. I sold my M.U.L.E. two years ago for $100 Stupid thought, the drives are all set up for D1 right? (if you are testing them separately)... Also if the 1050 is dead I might be interested as I have a couple spare tandon mechs
  17. I would like to be considered for the 65XE if it's a fair price... That's a great haul (maybe your avatar should not look sad )
  18. Yes, All Payments have been received and I am Building them right now. A few more days and I will start shipping them. =) DO you have info on how to do this upgrade on a 600XL board that does not have the (missing) circuitry... Some of the components in the earlier schematic are missing in the variant mainboard
  19. I'm using winplus 4.0 on my xp machine... have been using this since I got these sticks and the only time I got the error was when I accidentally pulled the usb cable out. otherwise rock solid.
  20. Late to the party... But if you need anyone else to take a look I'm willing to do so
  21. What color screen do you get? are you getting steady +5 on the PSU, or does it fluctuate? As for the memory, there are some 65XE boards that have spaces for an extra bank of memory (in reality they are really 130XE boards)
