The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
orpheuswaking replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It was right outside of huber heights. On Levgee Road(or something close to that) at the cedarville exit. Oh great. So the one non-corrupt Goodwill in Ohio is only like half an hour from my house, but in a town where there's absolutely no other reason to go. Hey there is two reasons to go to Huber Heights, They have an awesome British store that sells all my favorite stuff from my childhood (I grew up in england, but moved to the us ten years ago) -
Ok, this is way out of line. So I'll tell you of my dealing with Ewing92 Ewing92 wanted to buy some Commodore items from me. He asked if I could give him some time to come up with the money and after thinking about it I agreed. I remember when I was younger and didn't always have the money to buy the things I wanted for my Atari (god I spent a ton of money at Page 6 in those days). Ewing92 asked nicely, wasn't a jerk, and when I initially told him I wasn't sure and would probably just Ebay them he was courteous and even wished me luck with it the auction. His reaction went a long way into my decision to hold the items and let him send me a money order. Now, if someone asked YOU the same thing how would you react? Would you post in someones thread and make them look like an idiot, or would you just decline politely and move on? I'm not trying to start a war, I'm not saying anything against Bill Brasky, I don't know the guy. But I can say 100% with all honesty that I trust Ewing92 and was even considering buying that HDD from him (but someone else got it)... And CPUWIZ, I think you do a wonderful job in moderating these forums, it has to be a thankless task at times.

Well I guess $100.00 is the going rate these days... There is another one on there at 5 days left and it's only up to $5 or so... Kinda weird how that happens

You know I've seen this 800xl is socketed thing several times here, and I have to tell you I have 2 NTSC and 4 PAL 800XL machines and not a single one is Socketed

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...mMakeTrack=true (Not Mine) It's at $94.14 with a day+ to go. Do these usually go for this much complete? I have two copies complete and I guess now's the time to sell LOL.

Commodore Items for sale UPDATED!

Wow, those pens have got to be toast by now -
anyone bought any of these white repro box inserts?
orpheuswaking replied to Zwackery's topic in Atari Jaguar
Not sure these are "repros" B&C has a bunch of original boxes all flatpacked so it's not a stretch to imagine these are originals. but then I've been wrong more often than not -
If a game is CIB, rather than NIB, how hard would it be to collapse the box and ship it flat in the mailer? I think it should come out much better that way. On a related note, I wonder if any people store game boxes flat? I wish I HAD stored my boxes flat, I have a ton of Atari 400/800 software that has the worse boxes ever, crushed, dogeared and torn from about six different house moves. To me it's ok as I am not really a collector I just like to play them, but I was thinking of selling some and realize that it may not be worth it as the value of CIB or NIB is just not there. But if anyone wants a copy of Miner 2049er in a box that looks like it's been dragged backward through a hedge and then run over by Jack Tramiel in his Mercedes then I'm your man... :)

Commodore Items for sale UPDATED!
orpheuswaking replied to orpheuswaking's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Thanks I know these really have no value anylonger, but I would love for someone to take them so I don't have to trash them. I would hate to do that. They both work ok, but need new ribbons (can be found on ebay for about $5.00 each)... It's a pity they have the commodore interface in them, or they could be more useful to non commodore owners... Oh well... -

Or free for pickup in the Indianapolis area (I'll deliver for $5.00 in the Indy, or Dayton Ohio area) I have both Archon games left for $15 each or $25 for both (or make me an reasonable offer) and I'll throw in Seven cities for free... Worst Postal services youve encounterd

Well what do you know? after my earlier rant about FedEx guess what? I was supposed to have a package delivered Friday(yesterday), but it's still sitting in Champaign Illinois since 5.45 am Friday morning... I mean I would have expected it to at least go on a truck to Indy by now? So I guess I'll be getting that on Tuesday... I'm going out tomorrow to ship something to Texas, was actually thinking of hitting up the FedEx place as it has lower shipping, but now I'm just going to use the prepaid Priority shipping box that will work from USPS (bigger box than I need, better buy bubble wrap ) -
Silly question, are you hooking up the right cables? I don't have a 1702 but on my 1902 if I plug it up wrong I get nothing and there is a switch that I can depress that usually corrects it (but again I might just be talking out of my hat in regards to the 1702)

orpheuswaking replied to rheffera's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I would say for general damage and mishandling FedEx wins hands down here in Indianapolis. I purchased a bicycle from Ebay that came from Wisconsin. It was left on my porch as I was at work, my girlfriend dragged it in the house. The Bike had been professionaly packaged at a bike shop and was very padded and in a box designed for it. However there were four huge tears in the box allowing the frame to be exposed (not good as this was my GF's birthday gift and now she knew what it was - the box had no marking outside showing it was for a bike). But the best part was that when I took it out a realized that the front forks had been crushed together and then bent to the left. Not an easy task when this was a vintage Schwinn that had steel forks. Luckily a mile from my house is a place called the bicycle hospital and they fixed it up good as new (for $80.00) Ok I thought, a one off, but no... I was shipped a replacement mouse for my computer by the manufacturer and they shipped it FedEx, Lets just say it was a very flat mouse when I got it, I didn't even know a mouse came in 26 different pieces (that's how many I counted it had been crushed into)... I refuse to this day to use FedEx for anything. For the tardiness I have to say USPS. My Mom lives in the UK so she sends me stuff all the time and it's always sent with tracking so we know at what point it enters the USPS system... Usually takes 2 days to get to Chicago and then from Chicago to Indianapolis it goes missing and I receive it a month later (happened four times so far) the worst one was A birthday gift that she sent April 1st and I got in OCTOBER... I called USPS and they said they had shipped it to Indy but when I went to my post office that delivers to me they didn't have it (oh but they did, apparently they tried contacting me three times to pick it up) luckily I finally received a letter saying this was the last time they would try me before sending it back (had been at the post office the whole time) Can't say I've had any complaints with UPS though, usually expedient and everything via them has been in good shape -
ebay seller wants 'required' insurace _after_ the sale...
orpheuswaking replied to ls650's topic in Auction Central
And buying is even more so! Well that brings up a good point, I've bought many things on Ebay, but sold none... I was thinking of starting a new thread with my questions about selling, but for right now here will do As already mentioned I only want to sell a few items and I'm certainly not looking to make a huge amount. But with the Ebay fees and Paypal fees to accept money I'm wondering if it's even worth it at all... My main question though is how should i ship to avoid losing any paypal protection I would get? and 2 would it behoove me to switch my paypal to a business account as the personal account only allows 5 CC transactions a year? (Or just dispense with Paypal and require Certified Check or MO??? But that would put some people off I am sure???) Thanks again -
ebay seller wants 'required' insurace _after_ the sale...
orpheuswaking replied to ls650's topic in Auction Central
My concern wasn't the 1 neg I have now (my feedback explains the issue, so anyone who reads it can see)... My concern was that having a 0 feedback account would go against me more than an account that has 94 pos and 1 neg... I'm probably not going to be selling permanently on Ebay anyway, just trying to offload some Commodore stuff and then I'll probably be done -
ebay seller wants 'required' insurace _after_ the sale...
orpheuswaking replied to ls650's topic in Auction Central
I was thinking of setting up an account to Sell on ebay, I already have a buyer account that has 1 bad feedback in 95. But if I set up a new account I'll have 0 feedback and no one will want to buy from me??? How do you get around that??? (sorry to hijack the thread, but this is something I've been wondering about and this seemed a good place to put it) -
I dont have any right now, but for some reason I love the proline...
