Second pokey sounds fun.. and I can grab one from one of my unusable PAL machines...
SIO2PC and myIDE are cool and I would love to drop a hard drive into the casing. Not sure if I would be able to figure it all out though... there is aparently a 32 in one OS chip upgrade too...
What have you guys done on your machines?

Maybe you'll find the following link interesting....That's a little more than I can do right now... Does anyone know anything about the wizztronics 256 upgrade?

I was lookng at the Jag stuff here on AtariAge... What is the difference between the 1meg and 2meg Cybermorph cart?
Thanks

Man that really sucks. I have just got back into the Atari scene after several years away. I'm not a coder or developer. But I've always loved everything Atari related and when I heard about Eirevale I was blown away at the effort being put into it. I'm just happy and glad that one project is going to make it through... Maybe it's even a good thing that you can focus 100% on this one title... After it is out you could then have the satisfaction of having it done and that might give you the desire to resurect another of those projects...
Also I think that someone out there that reads this forum has the knowledge or knows someone that does to get the data from that drive without having to pay a fortune... I'm thinking that if you didn't hear something grind when it went down (that is if you were in the room) the data should be there...
Anyway, I hope things work out for you Lars...

Ok I have two working 800XL NTSC Computers (and three dead pal 800xl's)... One of the systems I want to use as a stock 800XL and play games etc... The other is a fully socketed board and I want to use it for upgrade projects... Right now it's stock...
SO... What shall I do to it? I can follow basic diagrams and solder/unsolder... What are the maximum upgrades I can do to it?
Simon
BTW: I haven't had the computers out for awhile.. Ten years in fact... and I am really enjoying exploring the Atari now... At the time I wasn't brave enough to try any upgrades and think this would make a great project over the next year or so...

I opened up my other three 800XL systems today... They ALL have the C012296 chip so it must be compatible with the 800xl
As for the Dram info... It must have something to do with that as I was looking into the wizztronics 256 upgrade and depending on the antic chip in your system depends on how you install it...
Brad from Best Electronics said that he thinks one is 7bit and the other 8bit...
I guess the computers work with either chip so it's not a biggie... I was just curious...

I have two 800XL computers... I had them both apart today and realized that the Antic chips have different codes/part numbers... one is C012296 and the other is C021697... Anyone know the reason for the different codes? Best - Electronics lists one as Antic and the other as XL/XE Antic... any ideas?

I noticed on my 800XL that the 2 tips that extend out from either end of the plastic header of the cartridge port have been broken off and therefore i cant use any cartridges that have the sealed ends on them...only the open face ones.Any idea where I might pick up a new plastic header? Hopefully someone knows what I am talking since I didnt explain it too technically. I did avoid calling the tips thingamabobs, though.

Send them an email, they have the most parts for Atari that I know of... They might be able to help you... But you may have to find a used or dead unit and canabilize it
Might also try myatari.com

Checked PSU (Have several) not that...
So how do I go about checking the other things? I had it apart yeserday but realized that my knowledge of the internal workings of the Atari is lacking somewhat...

Hey Guys,
I just dug out my old 130XE and hooked it up for the first time in years, it worked great for a day and then when I played it today after about 20 minutes the picture went out and a loud buzzing came through the speakers... Originally I hooked it up with the RF so I switched it over to the monitor cable (out to rca jacks) and still no picture... What I was getting is a rolling screen at best and fuzz at worse (One time it was all red)... The sound was a continous buzzing...
So.... I figure that as both RF and Monitor out had the issue it's something internal... what however I have no clue... Hopefully something realtively simple to fix and not too expensive
any ideas???

Dammit, I'm poor and I really want a Jag CD... Anyone want to sell one reasonably cheap???
I've actually been thinking about getting one, the reason being that I forsee that any significant output from here on out will be on CD format... Pity there isn't a way to build an interface to use a regular cdrom drive...

Bring back Jack!!!
TRAMIEL????
They are the reason Atari is dead....

So this is the reason I can't find a reasonably priced CD drive.... You bought them all and spraypainted them....

Atari 8-bit & ST hardrives

Hey guys,
I know I can get a myIDE and also USB now for the 8-bit... But does anyone know anyway to use an ST hard Disk unit with an 800xl? I'm curious as there are a number of these units on Ebay right now and I think it would be cool to use a real atari branded HD with my 8-bit..
So I turn the question over to all you hardcore users here...
