  1. Dal_1978 got in touch this morning by good old telephone to catch up on what's going on. Unfortunately a weekend away in Germany hasn't helped me much to help others as I wasn't going to risk European data charges by my phone company by getting on FB to ask Silver Surfer to see what was up. From my point of view, and as I've pointed out to Dal this morning, there's *nothing* I can do. I'm purely 'front of house' when it comes to the forum, so I can look after the place more than fix stuff that goes on in the background. It will get sorted when it does. Can't offer you timescales or anything such like as to when it'll all be working. By that I mean both problems - a) the forum being down and b) the naff hosting company who seem to have upset so many ISPs.
  2. Works fine in the UK for me. No-one seems to have posted on the forum itself about major problems other than a few people using Virgin as their ISP (again, UK-based people). I'll send Silver Surfer a message about this thread as he looks after the back-end side of things and see what he can find out.
  3. Count myself (short, fat, grey beard) and GazTee (owner of the JagVR unit from RetroBorse) as 99% guaranteed visitors next year.
  4. Oh yes there are (as in serious collectors) but we're not based in the US Would be interested in a whole heap of the ones listed but no idea if you'll ship to the UK?
  5. Also won by Tyr was the "Silliest pair of boots I've ever seen on a human being" competition. But then again, he was the only entrant
  6. DVD Camcorder is packed in my suitcase so I'll get some videos done and YouTube'd when I get back.
  7. It's not a new game we're releasing but a previously "unseen in English before" game. And it's a biggie
  8. SatanDisk all the way .. who needs big clunky noisy drives when you can have as quiet as a mouse SD cards for your Mega STE Thinking of getting a 2nd one as they're *that* good. May even sell my external 2Gig SCSI tower box too
  9. Theres a multi-forum meet being arranged for 17th Feb in Birmingham. Meeting in a bar somewhere (to be confirmed) followed by a meal in China Town and a night in Broad St. Anyone interested? So far we have Retro Passion, Retro Fussion and Retro Gamer and those who visit the Secret Atari Forum (whilst the main one is "on holiday"). Trying to make this as good a meet up and beer drinking as possible - the more the merrier!
  10. I really like how you've arranged the main menu into tables. We'll have to do something similar to ours when the main menu gets a bit more crowded Will add a "other Atari Wiki's" to the main page at some point and add yours if that's OK?
  11. Ladies & Gentlemen, Atari Forum now has a Wiki! Myself, Silver Surfer and Daeghano have been working on a little side-project when time permits and now it's time to open the doors and let everyone else add their bits! The three of us that have been working on the Wiki have left a fairly open structure for you to play with. So play away! We want everyone (who can be bothered) to share their knowledge displayed in Atari Forum (and anywhere else in the Atari world) with as many people as they can. Games, Hardware (fixing, modding and upgrading), Coding, Hacking and other stuff. All important information is welcome in the Wiki. Don't worry about editing/spelling/grammar as I can work my magic with my virtual 'red pen' - did I mention my day job is a Technical Author? I've got an RSS feed which will show me all new edits made on the Wiki, so behave yourself those childish people who like to damage things! There will be a forum section dedicated to the Wiki appearing soon @ Atari Forum!!. Discuss any changes / sections you want adding in that section as soon as it's open.
  12. Until NetUSBee is released and we can all connect our ST's to our LAN routers and/or connect some form of cheap USB memory stick, there's only the above slow routes available. If you've got HDDriver and a Jaz drive then, in theory, you could dump a load of games onto the Jaz via your PC and then unMSA them on your ST back to disks. I'll let you know about the Jaz option when I finally figure out why my SCSI box won't recognise it
  13. Ain't that the truth! I have wished that for many games...especially 3 and 4 disk sets. I'd love to get Ultima 5 on HD. Dragons Lair would be so much more playable on HD. (although it still might be near impossible!). What ever happened to that thread about the software that was supposed to do HD emulation or something like that? The one that was supposed to work like the Amiga version? Did anybody ever try that? If so, did it work? You'll need to have a hackers mind to work out the ULS transfer of *any* game to a HD that originally used direct DMA loading. If you've ever hacked/cracked/filed a game then you've got the skills (if you can remember them) to hack any existing game to make it work with the ULS loader. However, games that use standard files should easily go onto HD inside one folder - it all depends on what tricks they use to detect which disk is in the drive. I've got a link-filer routine sat on my website which strips out the A: and B: from any requested filename and re-directs it to one large link-file which (in theory) should work on your ST's h/drive.
  14. Most of the early arcade conversions were done by Andromeda Software (based in Czech or Hungary.. can't remember) or Paradox (which usually meant a really bad conversion!). All the info is on Atari Legend .. well, it will be when the bandwidth exceeded message disappears at the beginning of the next month
  15. Author of more than a few handy utils (well, I thought so!), saved game cheat editors and Professional Virus Killer. Wrote an article for ST Applications (UK "serious users" magazine) on training games (adding infinite lives etc) - but they never credited me, so good job my name was plastered throughout the source code listings! Also did a few one off articles for ST Doormat on viruses at the time - only got one published about The Green Goblin one though. That's about it (that's legal!). Currently editing the database behind Atari Legend to fix errors and update entries etc.
  16. The project isn't dead - it's just that there's not a great deal of "old skool" ST hackers out there who want to spend the time getting the old games working off h/drives. The link (for me!) still works too: http://www.mikemee.plus.com/DBUG186/ The DBUG 186 disk image is still there as are the disk images with the game you will need?
  17. I've love a card for my MegaSTE .. would compliment the 68882 I had installed in it 2 weeks ago at the JagFest (UK) 2005. But the prices I've seen them go for on eBay (mostly in Germany) are just silly! For the price of a VME graphics card, I bought a complete PC! There were rumours off someone else on Atari Forum about the Acorn Archimedes (a UK computer for the USA guys here) which also had a VME Bus in it .. but not sure how far the investigations got.
  18. There are a few desktop backgrounds over at Atari Forum but no complete theme as such.
  19. Well, you'll be glad to hear that it's out! OK, it's not quite WHDLoad but it's (in theory) a tool for anyone with a bit of 68000 knowledge to patch an existing filed version of a DMA loader to read the files it needs off a h/drive partition instead of requiring a disk (or an image for emulators). The full release is on DBUG 186 and it can be found here: http://www.mikemee.plus.com/DBUG186. I've also uploaded the disk images you'll need for the 10 games which are in this first release. As for Falcon compatibility .. if someone can do some testing and let us know here or on the Atari Forum, then please do so. Feedback is appreciated - especially by the coders.
  20. And another pile of bull on your website that needs editing matey! All MODs are 4 channel - and upwards depending on the processing power of the machine they're running on! 3 channel MOD's - hahahahahaha - try doing some research before you write anything on your website and we won't pick holes in your "expertise" !! The only reason they sound "crap" on a standard Atari ST is down to lack of custom chips, but of course I daresay your own soundtracker replay routine (which only does 3 channel MODs) is a most excellent piece of 68000 code that the demo groups in the ST Scene are desperate to get hold of
  21. Oh my god .. does your ego know no bounds? You can't code a proper website, let alone set up a proper domain and use a proper template (I mean there are *thousands* out there in PHP-land) so you steal someone else's and claim it as your own because all you've done is change a few pages! Erm .. isn't that fencing by any other name? "Here's some AtariKings handbags ladies, they look like Gucci that's because they are from the "same factory" as Gucci (I nicked them last night) and I'm offering them to you as AtariKing bags because that's a better quality name (nothing to do with me changing the name on the clasp). All my own design handbag. 101% Original AtariKing handbags. Come on ladies .. handbags, get yer AtariKing handbags here." Oh yes, back to all seriousness. Have you really researched your "Top 10" bull$hit claim or, is it like all of your other posts and based on pure hot air. I use Google (a small insignificant search engine compared to whatever it is you've written, of course) and your site appears NOWHERE in the Top 10. Which search engine are you using? If it's that good, I expect Google, Yahoo and MSN to be knocking on your door soon! Oh, and for anyone else dumb enough to believe his outpourings, check out all the other forums he's banned from besides Atari Forum. There's more than enough Amiga people sick to the back teeth of his bile The only service you do is to entertain people with your crap .. and I won't adding you to any ban list as that would mean you'd only turn up again here or there on any other forum. If only common sense could get through to your ego and tell you to stop .. but I doubt it.
  22. So this is where Doommaster (and all of his other names runs off to and hides when he's booted out of the Atari Forum) .. 'AtariKing' is a new name though, normally it has a "master" on the end as he must reckon it gives him (or his ego) kudos. His last posts on the forum were under the guise of a "happy customer" from his website (his current "website" was stolen lock, stock and barrel from the Paradox website of STE demos and altered very little). Whilst we spent time pointing out this theft and the awful spelling on his site, he was correcting the spelling mistakes! Have fun guys and generally ignore what he says ..
  23. More the first than the 2nd .. certain groups (it was alleged but turned out to be true) wouldn't crack releases from a certain software house near to them in the UK. Others fell out over who could do a proper crack of a game - e.g. a second hidden protection check later on in the game which was missed when the groups rushed out a release to be the first one .. still happens today with the other scene releases on the PC and consoles.
