  1. I've got two systems which are both giving me problems. I have an Asteroids that used to have the screen go blank intermittently. I could go in, wiggle some cables, say a few magic words and get it back working for a while but now it is offically dead. You can hear the game, just not see it.

I also have a Ms. Pac Man that used to work great but recently, maybe in sympathy, has developed the same problem.

I don't have the tools or experience to do any poking around besides jiggling wires and checking fuses so I was hoping someone might know of someone in the Phoenix area who could come check these out. I really hate calling people blind out of a phone book. :ponder:

Any info that can be provided will be greatly appreciated :D

  2. For those that need and can afford it :)

That is so cool! :lust: I didn't get to play in that challenge but did compete in the Campus Challenge competition they had the following year or so. I actually was the champion at my school (Southern Methodist University) and got a free trip to DisneyWorld for the championships where I was one of the few females. I don't think my soon-to-be ex-fiancee ever forgave me for beating him :D

That year the games were Super Mario Bros. 3, Pinbot and Dr. Mario. Of course, they didn't give us the game cartridge to take home that time :(

  3. Jerry G is still at Atari2600.com isn't he?

(whatever happened to Zlatka the Game Girl?)

I know I told this story on RGVC way back when, but JerryG really ruined one of my game sources back then. There was a guy who went by the name of Renny who had some used Games stores in Phoenix called Games+. In one store location he had tons of old classic games he had bought. Really rare stuff for pretty cheap. That is where I got Halloween, TCM and Off Your Rocker to name a few. On the first visit or two I didn't buy much because the funds weren't there and I figured we would be making frequent shopping trips. It wasn't too long after that when I went in to the store and there was Jerry G looking through all the games and stacking aside quite a few to buy. I think he clued Renny on the DP Guide because after that all the game prices sky rocketed to DP prices. :sigh: So much for the $5 River Patrol

Yep, I was just plain PammyK back then. I probably did buy a thing or two or ten from ya

RIght after I post something I think of something else. There were two brothers who were big into collecting back then, but I can't think of their names right now. Anyone know? I want to say Drew was one name.

Yes, I think they were Drew and Brett?

  5. I got to wondering about the old days, who here have I traded with in the past, way back before ebay was around, several of us ran auctions on the newsgroups. I remember names like Zandrew, Jerry G. , J. Hardie, Mercury, and others. Are these people still around on here going by another name? I did a search on a few auctions I ran back then, kind of cool to see it again, and what the prices were going for at the time. Here are two auctions I did in 96' Anyone recognize the winners.

I remember those names. What about Gregg Woodcock, VGR and RiffRaff? It seeed so much simpler then. Of course, it was a pain to host your own auction :P
