You should talk. When FL hits 60 deg, all of us are freezing our butts off.

I was actually talking about Vectron. Their only game in the "Arcade Network" they made.
It's a weird game. Its strange play mechanic puts people off, and it bears very little resemblance to Tempest which is rumored to inspire it.
But it is unique and hats off to the designer who came up with something so off the wall.

I think it was hinted by some anonymous Ferrari driving tycoon that it has 64 contact points.

You never gave it a chance. 😉 It is an acquired play mech, but with time, it's much more playable than Auto Racing, which is unnecessarily complicated and unrewarding.

I didn't like the controllers.
But it wasn't the disc that I had a problem with. It was the action buttons on the side. They were stiff, irritating, painful after an hour's play and way too small.
The disc was great if the game was designed with it in mind, like most of the in house intv games. The third parties though, were hit & miss.

Even the Wii had an option for 1 player only. I hope this is fake news or something has been terribly misunderstood!

I doubt we completely get away from that but Tommy's already said they are dialoging internally about this. Def don't want to see a 20-30 second loading screen to get to the menu, then another 20-30 second to get to the game. Oh PSX, how I don't miss thee for this type of crapola
Uh' no. There is no 'but' in this. Loading screens just plain suck.
The universal acceptance of optical discs may have saved on costs, but that decision forced the entire gaming community to get used to it. Cartridges were instant on, and flash drives are 10x faster than the Sony royalty frisbees.

I thought you said 40. If it's 50 then awesome!
I'm still not buying Math Fun. I do that crap for work. 😂
And I think Apple Arcade is the first with 50 launch titles... if you can call that a system. Service seems more appropriate.

And then a 6 year old niece or nephew will come by and you'll be like... "Have you ever played Math Fun?"
Actually... when you see what I'm doing with it... you'll see it's actually very cool. And can be played by all age/skill levels with the Karma Gaming Engine. And a GREAT license (sorry Electric Company... you've been replaced) that has info and learning about animals as well.
Okay, I trust you for now. But she's 8 now, in Washington State, and I live in Florida. So I'm going to get the "Uncle Tracy! Why are we playing this? It's summer and no school! Take me to Busch Gardens or Magic Kingdom!" And an answer of "But this is $8, and those places are $90+" probably isn't going to cut it . 😜
I'm just thinking though, that no matter how many they will be, I could get 4 Amico games for the price of Mega Man 11 alone, or 6 for Crackdown 3. We're gonna be begging for your games like dogs who smell bacon.
I'm glad you're not going for the IOS or Steam landfills, or even the piles shovelware on PS4, but there should be a happy medium between a desert and a rainforest.

Not when they're all curated and quality games! That's actually a LOT if you think about it.
Assuming we would want every one of them. A 55 year old Network Engineer, calculating all day at work, isn't going to buy Math Fun.
Yes, that's me.

That's about 25-36 games a year.
Sounds quite low of an output to me. 2-3 games a month?

I just hope this Karma Engine isn't supernatural. What if I rage quit and the next day I end up in a car wreck?

The other things are the ease of use of controls. Most of the games are touch screen based unless you buy a $60 - $80 PS or Xbox blue-tooth controller (which is complicated) so all of the games are limited to touch controls... and if you want to play games on your Apple TV... good luck using THAT controller.
I'm also curious, considering Apple's penchant for unique industrial design, why they didn't design their own controller for the service & either pack it in with AppleTV or as an accessory. IOS games on ATV are horrible because of that tiny remote control.
29 minutes ago, GrudgeQ said:One question on Apple Arcade is how long are the games going to stay? I wonder if part of the whole 'low cost' thing is get people into Dodo Peak or something and then it gets removed in a month or two - prompting you to buy the game.
I'm wondering the same thing. One thing though... Their new Frogger looks amazing.
QuoteMe for example... I've never owned an Apple product in my life. So I'm unable to play it.
U-huh. Right. You have a Ferrari. I think you can take out a HELOC for a $150 AppleTV.

I gather an "easy" mode is sufficient to get casual gamers to play but let's not kid ourselves, Granny isn't about to pilot the R-9A Arrowhead, not every genre is for everyone.
Anyway my comment isn't to be taken as a negative, just wondering if there is space for a gem of a game that maybe sidesteps the existing rules. I'm not expecting a 3D open world style platformer to be appearing anytime soon
R-Type is for me. My favorite game of all time. And also one of the most criticized for being too hard. IREM were sometimes diabolical.

Hey Tommy!
I'm curious what your thoughts are on Apple Arcade that just got launched. They're enacting a couple of platform rules that you focus on, like no in app purchases or loot boxes & a limited, curated library. They also claim many exclusive games (from Sega and Capcom too) Hopefully you get Sega & Capcom to make a few games for Amico.
Just wondering what you think of it. It's not the same as just the app store, which I originally thought it was.

BTW this video deals with "he who shall not be named" and I am sticking with a no-comment policy here and I hope you do too. Link provided only as a reference to source.
Very good rules to have. I'm glad the first one was changed.

That link forced me to sit through a commercial. Now I feel dirty giving Pat ad money.
