with very few exceptions i never did like 3d games

I can count on one hand the non-racing 3D games that I actually liked. I never got into FPSs. But Once MS released Ori and the Blind Forest, I was like "Now you're talking!" Then we got Cuphead. Both were big hits, so I think 2.5D is coming back with more generous dev budgets & the genre is rising above stocking stuffer status.

But they still get overshadowed by Call of Duty67: This time we're serious with 5 more bullets *with optional DLC pack.

  2. Tommy 🧐... "During my time in congress I took the initiative in creating the Internet." -Al Gore

"He said he invented the internet" -Bush campaign staffer.

creating & inventing are not synonyms.🤣

It was bad phrasing on his part and opened him up for ridicule to be sure, but he was historically correct. Before the information highway democratization legislation, the network was called the Arpanet.

you must be a big Neo Geo fan then there are SO many fighting games on that system..good ones too

I am, but mostly for it's shooters (I don't say shmups) like Blazing Star, Aero Fighters and Metal Slug. I'm just saying is if there's going to be a fighting game on this system, the gesture possibilities of the touch screen opens up a lot of neat possibilities instead of button mashing... but also that fighting games have evolved since the "generic guy in a gi" and they need personalities now.

Actually I should state KOF & Samurai Shodown are great. But the new one for $60, even though it is in HD? Pricey.

Karateka was great on the Atari computers

Meh. No personalities. No characters. I get that it was an early fighting game, but if that's a possibility (which I don't see why it shouldn't be) then a Ye-ar Kung Fu type of game, with actual fleshed out characters would be much better.

The possibilities of the touch screen on moves is endless. Swipes, gestures, sweeps, circles etc. to pull off moves is tantalizing.

I don't know why, but a QR code or barcode pasted on to an Intellivision trading card just popped into mind. Or a collectible Intellivision trading card (think today's credit cards) with an RFID chip in it. Wave over the system and voila! You're playing the game.   🤣

Or it could look like this with a QR code inside of it and a nice box to store it in.

Are you sure that's correct?  Everything I have seen indicates something along of the lines of having something physical available or some novel way of handling licensing such that server shutdowns won't be an issue, but nothing specifically confirming there would be physical media.

Tommy's mentioned during most interviews that it would be something different, special and surprising with physical media, but he said we'd have to wait until they're ready to disclose exactly what that is. I think he also said that somewhere earlier in this thread.

    Sounds intriguing.

I agree, I do think something along those lines will be created for the Amico.  I was only saying the "Wii Fit" audience may be left out.  The rest...like Wii Sports, Wii Party, Just Dance....they will definitely be represented somehow!

Is there a Wii Fit audience? Really?

I remember half my middle aged, mimosa drinking friends buying Wiis and Wii fits and never saw them use it. Instead they did "Drinking Around the World", the pub crawl at EPCOT, religiously every year.

😂 But the mental anguish could be priced in the millions!

And to add a subtle value point to this, I paid for my own Intellivision through a years' worth of menial, teenager jobs.

I bought most of my games with that same allowance/lawn mowing money at $25-35 a pop (Pitfall & Dragonfire were a clearance bin after the crash <$10). I think I only got 3 as gifts.

Those little bast... I mean my darling step brothers, came in and destroyed my sister's game system (I didn't consider it mine anymore) without paying a dime for it. Everybody knows teenagers have no or very little money, and so what I lost was much more than the yard sale value of whatever was left.

I guess I'm getting worked up by this thread now, where it's been 30 years since all this happened, and I really did get over it.

My all time favorite systems, the SNES & Genesis are still with me, so I'm ok.

Would Street Fighter even be within the family friendly realm of the system? I'll admit I haven't followed the progress lately so perhaps a little bit of violence and gore would be OK. Karateka probably is easier as you're just kicking down the bad guys.

Capcom made one for the Saturn that had all the characters as kids, if I recall correctly. >>google>> Yeah! Here it is! Pocket Fighter

    Not quite true.

The Channel F is the first system with a pause button, but it was on the console itself.  The controller cables were not terribly long, so it was in easy reach.

Intellivision is the first system to have a pause via the controller.

Seriously though. Few of us ever heard of the Channel F or the Arcadia 2001, RCA whatchacallit and other also-rans in the early 80s. We had 3 dominant companies and Magnavox. I never saw a Commavid or Apollo game at any store. Only in magazines.

I think this example shows the carelessness and mentality that goes along with the modern gamer. No wonder violence and videogames go together. I mean they ripped apart an intv cart. Those are pretty tough. Savages!

Can't imagine what basis there'd be especially for a console worth only a couple a hundreds at best.

That's what my sister told me. I'm sure they took a screwdriver to it pried it open or something like that.

if you're looking for a traditional controller, Amico is not for you, you're missing the approach of this console

And considering that most cellphone owners stupidly film their videos vertically, the Amico controllers would be right at home sitting vertically in their incompetent videographer hands. I hear the orientation can be shifted around and customized for Genesis users used to holding their boomerang controllers horizontally.

That's really cool. It sounds like there's a large age gap between you and your sister. I have two sons almost 12 years apart (with a daughter in the middle) and they are best of friends. I'm glad you're still close and love this part of the story.

10 years with us. She's 43 now, so yeah Tommy Tallarico! Guys in their 50s still buy game systems. 😎
