I have seen the graphics corrupt twice and had the odd music skid, that’s in 30+ hrs.

@spspspsp are you pleased with the DAC overall with the exception of the SG’s composite output? What does passthrough mode do? Has anybody run a 32x through it yet?
-
Analogues customer support contacted me once again this morning and asked me to send my Mega SG in for repair. I asked if they would compensate me for the postage costs from the U.K. back to the USA. They then suddenly changed their minds and said we’ll go back to the original plan and see if it’s broken when the new GG adaptor shows up! On the subject of the adaptors I’m very pleased with the fit and finish of them. The carts fit very snugly with minimal movement and the connectors don’t seem overly tight. Tried out the mk3 one earlier and as expected it worked great.

Analogue support have come back to me this morn and have reassured me that analogue will repair or replace my Mega SG if indeed it is damaged, but this will be determined when my replacement GG adaptor arrives. My first reaction was to be a touch disappointed by this because I very much expect the replacement won’t work and it’ll mean even more waiting. But after thinking about it more I guess it’d unreasonable to expect analogue to replace any SG until it is proven to be faulty. Maybe they’ll engineer the replacement adaptor to bypass the potentially damaged component entirely thus negating the need replace any SG’s? Of course I’m completely speculating here as I do not understand the issue or mode of failure in any way.

“Unless your Mega SG Game Gear adaptor has stopped functioning” Mine locked up in use and now the SG will not boot with adaptor in place. “6. How can Mega Sg Game Gear Adapter (v1.0) damage my Mega Sg? If the Game Gear Adapter is a defective one, there is a chance it can cause a small part failure on Mega Sg. The part fail will stop any Game Gear Adapter from working (defective or not).” This part must have failed on mine.
-
Just received an email from them about the defective adaptor so they are going out.
-
Yup, nothing. I still have Analogues email set to VIP with a stupid loud jingle as I didn’t want to miss the cart adaptors going on sale!
-
I wonder if they’ve stopped shipments after the problem was discovered and that explains the delays. And why on Earth are they not emailing everybody who bought the adaptors directly?
-
Yeah. That's how I read it too. Immediately thought "this REALLY sucks for Enragedwhale... as if he hasn't had enough problems with Analogue!" It’s was a higher percentage than you even thought! 😂 To be fair to analogue this is the first real problem I’ve had and other than their piss poor comms. I trust they’ll sort my SG for me if indeed it is damaged. It also may explain the slow responses if they were trying to investigate this mess.

Spoke too soon, just re-read the notice. Seems my Mega SG is damaged if I understood properly. . I've already used my Mega Sg Game Gear Adapter (v1.0) - has my system been damaged? No, your Mega Sg is not damaged unless your Mega Sg Game Gear Adapter has stopped functioning or will not function at all. Regardless, do not use or continue to use the adapter, dispose of it and wait for Analogue to ship you a replacement.
-
Wow ok then! That explains it. At least it’s getting sorted. Hopefully my SG is ok but I’m sure Analogue will sort me out of not. I mean it seems to play everything else ok.
-
I only play with carts, mine isn’t jail broken.

I feel you, being in PAL land I need to set video settings for the few games I play at 50hz as well. I have a text document with it all written down and can do it all in about 5 mins at this point! Side note: One thing I love about NT/SG is the ability to display PAL games at the correct non-squashed aspect ratio with ease. I dialled it in with my OSSC eventually but it requires different profiles and tv settings.

The main one is garbled graphics or map screen after a fight. It’s been known about and reported since shortly after the Super NT’s launch. It’s only happened to me 3 times in over 30 hrs of play and can be fixed simply by accessing the menu but it does not happen on real hardware. https://github.com/SmokeMonsterPacks/Super-NT-Jailbreak/issues/27 Don’t get me wrong, I love the Super Nt and it’s my preferred way to play SNES these days I was just countering the claim that it was better than any official SNES console released by Nintendo.
-
In the nicest way possible I’m hoping you are totally wrong! Hopefully for me and everybody else it’s a very small percentage of failures that will get fixed in short order 🤞
-
I agree with you there CZroe. But considering it worked fine until it suddenly didn’t and the Mega SG refuses to even boot with a cart inserted I’m pretty confident it’s faulty. I suspect it’s shorted somewhere due to a manufacturing fault. I doubt Kevtris will be put to task to try to engineer a software fix for one faulty adaptor if that was even possible. I guess everybody else’s are fine?

My preference is for a replacement. I’ve waited nearly a year already and placed the order literally 1 minute after receiving the notification that they were on sale. Also I’ve paid £20 ($26) in fees and tax I’ll never see again. I will say the actual dialogue with customer services is fine, it’s just at such a slow pace. First reply after 16hrs asked me to do a few obvious checks as you’d expect, the second (24hrs later) was to say it had been passed over to the developers and they would get back to me. That was about 18hrs ago. It seems the cs rep is in Hong Kong and I presume the developers are in the US? So with me in the U.K. that’s a bunch of different time zones. As long as I get a replacement within a week or two at no cost to myself I’ll be satisfied. A refund is the distant second choice
-
FedEx were much faster for me than analogue’s customer support have been. In the same amount of time it took for my parcel to ship half way round the world they’ve only replied twice with no indication of how or if they can resolve my faulty GG adaptor issue.
-
I’ve been working my way through FF3 over the last few weeks and I’ve certainly experienced some minor glitches that aren’t present on real hardware. Love the super nt though and I’ve packed my SNES away in its box.

They must interact with the SG in some way as you can access the specific core options by inserting them and selecting “run cartridge” without a game in. This results in a blank screen from which you can pull up the menu, so the SG seems to know which core to load. If I do this with the game gear adaptor the blank screen has a bunch of coloured pixels on it but you can still get at the menu and the GG core options. I don’t have any games to test the other new adaptors but the MS one is still working and the SG itself seems perfectly fine, it just won’t boot with a GG game inserted. I don’t have JB firmware but I may install it if it will help diagnose the issue but I feel the evidence points the adaptor failing. Maybe it’s simply shorting somewhere.
-
Well it seems my game gear adaptor has failed after approx 20 mins of use. Played a bit of ax battler then about 5 mins of Tazmania and it suddenly locked up. Now the mega SG refuses to boot if a game gear cart is inserted, the power light stays red. Dropped a ticket to support, hopefully if it comes to replacement they kept some stock behind!

They are doing another run

Cart adaptors arrived with me in the U.K. Fees were £8 tax and £12 fedex charge. Quality seems nice as you’d expect, will try them out this eve.

For those wondering about the DAC and HDMI switches, Bob at retrorgb has done some testing for us
-
Indeed, mine are expected tomorrow and I’m in the U.K.
