  1. Really? That person "newfeetx2" is NARUed

theoriginalkingfish is no longer NARUed, but the negatives he left are gone. His responses to the Seller are very annoying. I would never want to deal with this person as a seller or buyer.

He was NARUed not long after I posted my original message but it took the seller 2 to 3 weeks to get eBay to naru the buyer. 2 to 3 weeks! In those 2 to 3 weeks, his sales must have been affected with 89 negative fb that the buyer has posted. I feel sorry for the seller and I am mad at the buyer.

As with theoriginalkingfish, I bet newfeetx2 has been suspended only temporarily, probably 30 days. Buyers who abuse neg fb should be banished from the site indefinitely.

  2. Just in case you guys don't know, eBay now allow sellers to block buyers who have 2 Unpaid Item Strikes in the past 12 months and buyers who have been reported by other sellers for 4 policy violations in the past 6 months. Previously, sellers could only block buyers who have 2 UPI strikes in the past 1 month and no way to block those for policy violations at all.

To use this tool, login to your eBay account, and click this link http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BuyerBlockPreferences

The link is legit but if you don't trust me or don't feel comfortable clicking the link, you can use the tool another way. Login to your eBay account, click Site Map at the upper right hand corner of the screen, right in the middle under Selling Activities, click Block Bidder/Buyer List, under Buyer Block Exemption List, click Buyer Blocks.

Either way should bring you to a page where you can set up your Buyer Requirement. This setting should be applicable to all current and future listings. But just to be sure, you should double check each and every listing, check the Buyer Requirement section and verify if this is the case.

  3. EXACTLY MY POINT....

As a buyer I like the new thing, as a seller I HATE IT.

I have not brought myself to neg anyone yet, but I did pick three fights.

One was a bootleg GBA game (they refunded me, and I sent it back)

One was smoke related (I bitched) they said what do you want. I asked for an appology (wuss I guess).

If I didn't know how to get the smell out with kitty litter I would have been much more angry.

The other was for Coleco Super Action sticks. I paid for them a MONTH ago and they still are not here. I asked for a refund four times, and then he said he sent them today, was away on a trip. I plan to refuse them and stick it out for a refund. $15.99 shipping!

Prior to this my rating was more important than squabbling with a*holes. It does feel good to say what I think, but I think this is going to hurt eBay in the long run. People need to get along, there has to be a check and balance.

    AX

Leaving negative feedbacks for those reasons is one thing but leaving negative feedback just because the sellers do not say thank you is ridiculous. Leaving negative feedback just because the sellers do not give the buyers positive feedback first is also ridiculous. I surely hope that eBay kick out abusive buyers like theoriginalkingfish for good but I doubt that they would do that. Buyers can now leave negative feedback for any reason or no reason.

This guy even indicated before hand that he intended to go in a rampage to neg sellers just for the thrill of it. http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?thr...040&start=0

  4. I am not an expert as I have never opened an eBay store but these are what I know:

Store has less Listing Fee but more Final Value Fee.

Store has much less exposure since it is always listed at the bottom of the search page.

Store has advantage of keep relisting itself until it sells.

At any rate, eBay now offer 30 day free trial for first time eBay Store Owner. If you cancel before 30 days have passed, your store fee will be credited to your eBay invoice but not your credit card account.

  5. I just want to share some cool links that may be in the interest of some people.

    1. http://www.goofbay.com/ebay_tools.html

You can now check people pure feedback score by including the neutral and mutually withdrawn feedback in the feedback score calculation.

You can check people bidding and selling history in the past 120 days (eBay site only allows you to check their history for 30 days).

    2. http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/neg90

eBay now will restrict seller whose neg or neutral feedback in the past 90 days is above 5 or 10%. Use the above link to find out if you or your competitor is about to be restricted.

    3. http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/item-fb

This tool will pair feedback by seller and buyer side by side for each transaction. Useful if you are obsessed in only dealing with those who give feedback first. Not to say that I agree with it but nevertheless I give you the link.

    4. http://www.terapeak.com/

Very useful in finding completed listings in the past 30 days for free. eBay site only allows you to find one in the past 15 days for free.

    5. http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Buy...entsActivityLog

Are you worried that putting too much restriction in your listing, such as only accepting Paypal or only selling domestically, will hurt your business? Use the above links to find out how many bidders who have been rejected due to your restrictions.

    6. http://www.ebay.ph/commIndex

Some sellers don't want you to know what they have been selling and therefore make their listings private. With ebay.ph (eBay Philippine), you can unlock their secrets.

If anybody else have other eBay related links that provide information not offered in eBay itself, please share with us.

    Thanks!

  6. Those are random characters, not initials. The real change that they made was to make the bidder actual feedback score visible. Previously, eBay only told you their feedback range, such as 100 to 200 for those who have feedback score of 150.

    http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200708.shtml#2007-08-24154355

I don't think masking bidder id will completely prevent people from getting scammed. Since eBay only mask bidder user id when the bidding price gets to $200 or above, all the scammers need to do is take a snapshot just before the bid gets to $200. Then by comparing the bidder list before and after the bidding gets to 200, it is very easy to send a fake second chance offer to those who don't win the bid.

  7. I fucking :x hate :x - :x HATE :x - :x HATE :x - these sniping services. In a number of recent auctions I was the high bidder all the way until the final seconds, like the final five seconds, where I suspect one of these punk ass automated sniping shits came in and outbid me. I was there, watching the auction end, and of course had no time to react.

Dude, if you are outbid, consider it their lost and not yours. It is their lost because you FORCE them to pay more than they would otherwise pay had you not bid.

  8. I have just found out that if you list your items at eBay Philippine, Malaysia or Singapore, you don't pay a thing. No insertion fee and no Final Value Fee. eBay charge you nothing! Selling at some other eBay sites may also be free.

    1. Can any US sellers who sell internationally list their item at one of these sites?

    2. What is the catch? Come on, there must be a catch and a very big one I suppose!

  9. Updated Sept 5

I am selling a brand new Nintendo Octopus Game & Watch Wide Screen at eBay. Brand New C10 game in C10 box. Never been played and only taken out once to take pictures. Starting bid is just $9.99 with no reserve.

Please take a look here if you are interested.

Thank you and have a nice day!

  10. Actually, sellers CAN choose who buys from them. Ever heard of private auctions?

Private auction means that only the bidder and the seller can see who bids on the item. It doesn't mean that the seller can pick and choose who can bid on his item. You may be referring to pre-approved bidder listing but that has been discontinued by eBay.

Buyers can also cancel bids, and/or put restrictions on who can bid.

Canceling bid doesn't work if the bidder snipes. I have never seen any listing where the seller actually says in their listing that they will only sell to those who will return feedback after one being left for them.

But you're right, I can choose not to buy from sellers who play games with feedback. For the most part, I do. These types of skanks are not to be trusted, with rare exception.

Bear in mind (assuming you are a seller) the more deceptive practices you have as a seller and pull this kind of stunt, the less people will buy from you.

Buyers aren't as gulliable as sellers would like them to be.

I am not pulling a stunt, I am just stating my opinion. And I do not call buyer a skank just because they don't leave me feedback. No sellers or buyers deserve to be labeled as a skank just because they only leave feedback after receiving one from the other party.

  11. Again you're talking super rare that this happens, as opposed to the scams that buyers face.

Rare as it might be, once you get hit with a scam buyer, you will lost a lot of money, perhaps in the hundreds or thousands.

Other than those most rare of situations you mentioned, a buyer has completed thier end of the deal once they've paid.

The deal ends when BOTH parties acknowledge their satisfaction.

Most sellers that don't leave feedback when they've been paid are skanks except for the few who've been scammed by a buyer.

What, I have to wait until I am actually scammed before changing my policy?

Ultimately as was said, feedback is optional...then again so are most acts of common courtesy, like not farting in a crowded elevator. One of the bad things about ebay are sellers who don't have an ounce of it to say "thank you" when they've had a customer pay for thier goods. Pretty pathetic really.

The same can be said for those buyers who don't leave fb after the seller leaves one for them. It works both ways.

But the bottom line is, you are in control when buying in eBay. You can pick and choose which sellers you want to buy from. Sellers do not have the same luxury. If you think that receiving fb immediately from sellers is that important, then don't buy from those sellers who only leave fb after receiving one from their buyers. It's that simple.
