How did prove that we are not able to work with customers?

I guess I should just throw away the materials that Rev sent me and then I can consider whether to proceed on rereleasing any of those titles. I have spent money on getting new cartridge labels and boards, but I suppose I can lose some of that, if necessary.

We just broke even on Spiker less than a month ago, and are still underwater on Deep Pockets and King of the Mountain (less than 100 sold of each). We have fared better on Slap Shot. We only had to make boxes for that, but we also have sold more copies (in a longer period).

Rev sent me 25 boxes, manuals and overlays for these titles and I thought it was worth doing. If I am just pissing people off, maybe I should just throw them away. I have 50 blue shells, I suppose I could do them all on one title or just throw them away. Keith had them made when he was considering a release years ago. I think he was considering Deep Pockets before the bootleg came out and then just decided not to do anything. If I knew how to make more blue shells, we would have used them on the last releases.

A lot of people don't have a clue what it costs to produce the materials for these games. I've been criticized because I charged for the boxes to a cancelled game (rather than give them away). I've been criticized because I didn't do an new printing of cartridge stickers for the boxed edition of a game that I previously released as 'cartridge only'. I've been criticized for not reprinting a cartridge sticker that started to come off because it was so old, when it could simply be fixed with a swipe of a glue stick. It is too easy for other people to expect you to take a loss on these, especially when they imagine that it costs 'pennies'.

I've had people tell me that they won't buy my games unless I box them up. I've had people tell me that they don't want to 'pay for the box'. The fact is that you can't please everybody.

  2. Frank Palazzolo has the data for all of the keyboard component programs I believe. He's been slowly working on an emulator for the Keyboard and has the basic operating on the system.

Here is a picture of Frank (in the middle) along with myself (left) and Carl Mueller on the right outside of Detroit in the late 90s I believe.

The "infamous book of Osborne" is a kind of resource book on the TI's CP1600 : http://spatula-city.org/~im14u2c/chips/cp1600_osborne/

When Scott Nudds and I were doing research to build the world's first known Intellivision cartridge ROM dumper, we found the Osborne book at our local library when we wanted to find out about the General Instrument CPU and ROMS inside the Intellivision. The book was invaluable and Scott eventually built the device, (described in a chapter of DeRe Intellivision) and we dumped pretty much every cartridge plus the Graphic ROM and The Exec ROM and the ECS Exec ROM that are floating about now.

If someone have one for sale,i would like to buy it!

I have a few copies that I can build. However, I cannot ship them at the moment, because there is no air mail service out of the country. I have no idea when that will change.

Unfortunately, you are in Canada, because Tim Naber has 4 copies of D2K SE that he can sell to USA based customers only. $110 US with shipping and PayPal fees included. The limited to 200 copies regular price of D2K SE is/was $100 US.

If interested in a copy and you are in the USA, please email:  [email protected]

William posted on FB. It’s a new KAI game that will be released by Elektronite this year. Looks very promising 👍🏻

It is actually an Elektronite game that was developed in association with Kai Magazine. We had a design of a dungeon crawl and teamed up with Oscar Kenneth to do a Swords and Serpents type game. It isn't something that we are simply publishing. Most of the original design had some problems and was not complete in many ways. A lot of the original design was not used and it was greatly improved upon and enhanced by Oscar, and his talents really shine through in this game. One of our testers, despite these not being his type of game is a bit addicted to the game play. The game is complete and in final testing. It is simply a matter of doing the manual, overlays and box.

I wonder how hard it would be to kill the dragon.  Imagine getting all the way to the bottom level of a dungeon and not even being able to interact with the dragon.   It just sits there.  Duin nutting!

That is what happens in Swords and Serpents and one of the motivations for doing a game such as this. Valter Prette was pushing for this game and is the one that got the design that this game is loosely based on done.

Does that still apply with the Portland show moving from Oct to Aug in 2020? Asking cause NY to Portland is a long trip for me, and I'm already annoyed that PRGE is gonna be before the Amico launch.

We intend to open sales of the 'complete in box' version at Portland in August. Mail order right after the Portland show.

We will be selling materials for loose cartridges as soon as they are available.

  7. We have approximately 10 copies of Defender of the Crown for Intellivision available. Perhaps more, depending on payments pending. If you are interested in a copy or multiple copies of the game, please email [email protected] with 'Defender of the Crown Order' in the subject and a request for the number you'd like to purchase. Just a reminder, if you haven't emailed 'Defender of the Crown ORDER' to the elektronite email, you do NOT have an order. Copies are $70 US each plus shipping and PayPal fees.

This was not meant as criticism, just a heads-up that german customs seems to have smartened up against lower declarations because of all the falsely declaring sellers from China. The person in line after me received a gift-package from overseas and even from her they wanted some sort of proof of the item's worth as otherwise they would just have to look up the new-prices on the internet to calculate customs fees. Smoothest way through customs seems to be to include the invoice in a bag on the outside or for sales from private people a prinout of the Ebay-auction or something similar. I can understand them looking more closely now with all the taxes that are being cheated by mostly Chinese sellers who just under-declare everything.

Don't really have a second one at hand, but I was afraid it could be something like that. The only other game with strange behaviour on this machine is SNAFU which has some colors looking wrong. All the other games work fine as far as I can tell, including D2K and such. Either way the behaviour with DotC is hard to reproduce. Are there better test-carts than the old ones from Mattel that *really* test the hardware/memory more thorougly?

I will just write 'gift' on German shipments in the future. I'm not set up to print out invoices and such.

Hm, so I am not 100% sure if I get it right: If I have a cart I could get the rest next year, so far so good, but because the carts are not longer sold: Will there be a complete version post Portland available? Because I have no cart and if the train left the station to get my hands on a boxed copy it would be a bit sad.

We will be making the materials to make loose carts 'complete in box' in May 2020. The complete in box version will be available STARTING at the Portland show, and then via mail.

The problem is: I dont want to spend money on shipping for a cart and again money on shipping the box. So I would definitely buy a CiB Copy of TNT Cowboy and probably also of the other two games (but just 90%). If Elektronite would say definitely "there are no boxes" and that would stand as a final word I also would buy a cart only, better than nothing, but I really would appreciate a boxed version.

The situation is pretty unlucky for both sides: You are waiting for sales and I am waiting on a final word about the future of the stuff and I am really not comfortable with buying my games in pieces. Importing stuff costs money, time and risk of damage every time. It would be great if there would be a better solution, so maybe... pre orders? :D I totally get why sellers are not very happy with that, but Elektronite made its name as trustable, so for me the situation is completely different and as a customer I would prefer a CiB pre order instead of buying in chunks.

Edit: And to be honest: If the "final word" would say "no boxes", I buy the game and out of nowhere there would be boxes, because the game sold well, I would also not be happy with it, because of all the reasons above :) I rather have a clear and honest information than getting wrong information to get me into buying someting.

I believe that you purchased a ROM of TNT Cowboy and I promised 'free shipping' for the people who bought the ROM on that title (only).

There will be "CIB" versions of the game. We will be printing all 3 boxes and overlays and manuals in April 2020. We will be making the materials available to the people with loose carts and then debuting the 'CIB' copies at the Portland show.

We've suspended sales of the loose carts of all three games due to lack of cartridges. They are going into other games at the moment.

Hi, I never did a proper manual for Ninja Odyssey so there isn't one just yet.

Once the CIB is a go there will be new manuals with Elektronite format for the 3 games.

Yes, we will be doing proper Elektronite formated manuals for the 'CIB' release in Spring 2020.

We've suspended sales of all 3 games due to lack of cartridges. We will be doing a print run in April and making the materials to make the game 'complete in box' then and opening sales of CIB copies at the Portland show.

  12. Just a reminder, that if you had a 'facebook' or 'atari age' reservation, in the past and you have NOT emailed [email protected] with DEFENDER OF THE CROWN ORDER in the subject line, you do NOT have an order.

There are 15 copies remaining. On December 1, 2019 (12:01am Bangkok time) I will release all remaining copies to be purchased in any numbers (ie two or three copies in one purchase).

We will be making 100 more copies and expect them to be available in March 2020. We should have our website back up and be able to do automated orders by then as well. Please understand that we are doing the best we can at the moment due to changes in our distribution.

Just played the game for a good hour or so, including my first win 🙂 Very nice and beautiful graphics and sound. Haven't been able to win a joust yet, though...

I noticed however that two times that in the first game after turning on the Intellivision, it threw me back to the title screen when I did an action (like the machine just reset). First this happened on my first joust after I had the choose between Territory oder Leadership, the second time just when I wanted to move my army. I have had only these two instances of the game resetting yet.

Another thing I noticed, when a castle of mine was besieged after I won the battle, it immediately showed the picture of the castle again and threw me into another battle for the castle (as if another lord had the same idea), but this second fight is without background-music then.

Not sure if both the throwback to the title-screen and the repearing castle-battles are bugs or just my machine acting quirky. I thought I left the behaviour here in the forum to see if others have these happen as well.

This sounds like a faulty Intellivision. No bugs like that were found during extensive testing over a long period of time. Try a different machine.

    Hi there,

if a copy is left, please add me to the list.

    Many thanks

The NEW reserve/ordering policy of Defender of the Crown for Intellivision

Elektronite is currently building 125 copies of the game for distribution via mail order from Thailand. There are more people that want the game than 125 at the moment.

Therefore, we have to follow the following procedures to make the system as fair as possible, and to get the game in the hands of as many people as possible and to avoid hard feelings.

Keep in mind, that if you miss out on this round of copies, there WILL be more made available in the future, but probably not for a few months at least. So, if you want to play the game this Christmas, you'll need to get on this round.

We will begin orders on November 15th, 2019 at 12pm BANGKOK TIME (GMT +7)

    Here is how you order:

At 12pm Bangkok time, (GMT + 7) (NOT BEFORE!!), on November 15th, 2019, send an email to

    [email protected]

    and request a copy.

Put "DEFENDER OF THE CROWN ORDER" in the title

Within 24 hours, you will get a reply IF you have a copy reserved.

The confirmation email will contain information on how to pay via PayPal.

The cost of the game will be $70 US + $18 US (Shipping + PayPal Fees) = $88 US final cost.

    Please NOTE!:

    - There is 1 copy per person/PayPal account.

    - There is no combining this order with other items. We will not accept requests to combine shipments with other copies going to other people.

    - IF YOU SEND AN EMAIL BEFORE THE official TIME, it will be deleted/ignored.

    - We will not accept message requests of any type for reservations of the game. You must email.

    - We will have requests open until November 30th, 2019 at which time any unsold games will be allowed to be purchased by anyone who wants a copy in any numbers.

    - We will be sending via registered mail if possible

    - Please note that all and any previous requests for the game are null and void and this is the ONLY method that you will be able to obtian the game until December 1, 2019.

Thank you for your understanding. We don't want people feeling that they were overlooked or ignored and some people having multiple copies of the game.

15 copies of the game remain. As well, 11 people have not paid yet and they will be released on December 1, 2019

Just had to pick up my copy of the game from the customs office (40 kilometers car-ride each way), because there was no invoice attached to the outside of the package. The custom-offices in Germany do not trust the value declared on the custom-stickers for some years now, since most people just declare "$10 merchandise" for everything they send (I heard there are even pre-printed labels available in China for that). Because of that customs now always require an invoice attached on the outside of the package, otherwise they will hold the package and ask for the customer to pick it up with the needed invoice and/or payment-receipt.

So, I went there with my Paypal-printout in hand and still ran into problems since there was no mention of what was actually bought in the Paypal-receipt (the argument being the payment has to be connected to the item). I finally found the order-confirmation in my Gmail-account on my smartphone and could send it to the email-address of the customs office from there. After that they could finally calculate the import VAT (15.03 EUR) which I gladly paid and was on my way back.

It would have been a lot easier and cheaper in the end if the package had been declared correctly in the first place, as then it would have gone through customs and I could have paid the 15.03 EUR when the postman delivered the item at my door.

The item itself arrived very well packaged and I look forward to trying it out this evening.

This story is just to suggest to other people or sellers to declare the items they ship overseas correctly and attach the invoice outside. Customs-office have smartened up in the last few years (at least here in Germany) and will not accept the standard $20 or $10 declarations anymore. In the end this just leads to complications in getting the ordered items. I'll gladly pay the import VAT instead of driving around for an hour and sitting at the customs office for another 30 minutes ;-)

Ok, in the future, people from Germany are going to have to instruct me what to declare or I will go with my standard 'materials' cost, which was just trying to be kind. Or, I can just put 'gift' on it. I don't do printed labels and it is coming from a person, not a company, so I don't know what to say except that I would have had a lot more people complain if I had put a $70 US value on the package.
