Pitfall II sure does exist in PAL. I bought it as soon as it was released (was it 1982?) over here in Europe. I'm sure it was PAL because the colors were all right and it didn't scroll - like other NTSC always did. Even the manual was translated and it contained a warranty card that I could send to an address in Belgium. Too bad I sold the card (CIB) a few months ago.

Yes, Atari sent a tip sheet and a map to everyone who asked for help when ROTLA was released.

I'm sure the Stelladapter is a very good piece of hardware, but for me it is a bit of a hassle to order one since I'm in Belgium. Buying a suitable joystick over here is less trouble - and a lot cheaper. Thank you all for your responses, I now know I can safely buy one of those joysticks.

Hello, Today I saw one of those new Speedlink Competition Pro Joysticks in a store, which looked a lot like some of my old joysticks for the Atari. It had two buttons and could move in eight directions (producing that typical "click" sound) and could be plugged into an USB port. Some of the reviews I've read state that it can be used with emulators, but can anyone confirm this? Will Stella recognize this type of joystick or does it really need a Stella adapter? What about Z26? Mame? Vice? Thanks for any info,

Does anyone happen to have a hack for Road Runner? Infinite lives or invincibility perhaps? This game is really too hard for me, I have never been able to get past level 3... Thanks,
-
I finished it, but only because I hacked the rom to make it a bit easier. In my version touching the sea horses will give you a lot MORE points than in the normal version and you will lose LESS points by touching the octopuses. I may have made other changes too - I don't recall exactly what I did, it's been too long. Scott Stilphen once made a great map of the game; I think it's probably online somewhere. I have attached my hacked rom in case you want to try it out. fathom_.bin

You should drop it on the executable file z26.exe, not on the icon file. If you can't see file extensions, tell Windows not to hide them (somewhere in Folder Options I think).

Atarimania lists the Hi-Score MK-3 (?) as an "Australian clone of Hi-Score". See: http://www.atarimania.com/lst_hard-TYPE-CLONE-MENU-2.html

Unzip into a folder that contains the z26 emulator. Move a copy of your Pitfall! binary file into that directory and rename it Pitfall!.bin. Open a command prompt and and goto the new directory you just created. Type z26.exe Pitfall!.bin. I realize that there are different ways to do this setup, so folks, please don't take my advice and cut it to shreads. 972403 This is a bit easier: create a directory in which you unzip the file. Then add a copy of a pitfall!.bin file, and a copy of sdl.dll which you can find in your original z26 directory. Now just drag 'n drop the file pitfall!.bin on the z26.exe file and off you go. Another method I use for playing games in emulators without a front-end is change the .bin extension of the rom files to .z26 and then tell Windows to automatically open .z26 files with z26.exe. That way all you have to do is double-click on a rom file to get it going.

This is soooo cool, much better than watching a movie! :-) Can this be done with other games too? I'd sure love to see some more "perfect games"! Thank you for sharing this.

Where's a file? 959993 Oops. Something must have wrong... Download it here: http://users.tijd.com/~tdn18471/screenshots.rar

Here's a file with screenshots of all the games I have (529 in total) in small, medium and large format. I have also included a text-file with all the names of the games, so that you can easily replace the hard-returns by some HTML-code if you want.

I think the screenshots on this page are great: http://www.videogamecritic.net/2600.htm The pictures are actually a lot bigger than what you see on the screen and most are less than 2,5 K in size. So even if you make a list with 600 games (if there are that many, I don't know), you would still only need 1,5 meg. I'm going to start making screenshots right away.
-
That would be great. Perhaps you could use smaller thumbnails and only show the actual screenshot when you click on one of them. Resizing a batch of screenshots can easily be done with Irfanview. As for the pictures of the games on the multicart, I'll get them as soon as I buy new batteries for my digital camera. Don't expect any high quality pics though.

Hi Rom, I just checked the cartridge. It is very hard to tell which games they are, because the titles on the label seem to be in random order and the cart itself just cycles through games 1 to 32 in each bank. Selecting a game is done by switching the console off and back on (tiring!), so there's no way to be sure which game comes first in the selected bank. If I take a well known game (like Q*Bert) as a reference point, the titles that follow do not necessarily match the order of the titles on the list. I noticed however that there are lot of Homevision games on it, most of which I don't recognize (I'm not actively collecting anymore) and there are also a few well-known games with completely altered graphics (Atlantis and Pooyan to name but two). Btw, is there a site somewhere which displays - preferably on one single page - screenshots of every known game for the 2600? That would help me a lot to name some of the games without having to navigate through all kinds of menus.
-
Here's a scan of my multicart. I haven't gone through all the titles but just let me know if there's something interesting on it - I'll glady check it out. Sorry for the bad scan btw.

Hello, Does anyone happen to have a rom-dump of the PAL version of Swordquest Earthworld? I've been looking for it but can't seem to find it. Thank you,
-
Doesn't really matter, as long as it can handle the Z26-emulator...
-
Why isn't there a good front-end for the Z26 emulator yet? Of all the front-ends available, I like Z-Launch best because it's small, it shows a screenshot of every game in my rom directory and makes it easy to navigate through the games. Unfortunately it always crashes on my Windows 2000 machine after playing a game ("execution error 5") so I always have to restart it, which is pretty annoying. (It happens on Win98 too). Don't you think it would be great to have a decent front-end that does not only show a screenshot, but also a box scan and cartridge scan in a separate tab? Just an idea...

According to the European Atari catalogs I have, there are five games that were never released over here: Flag Capture, Football, Star Ship, Canyon Bomber and Homerun. Football, Canyon Bomber and Homerun are listed in the catalogs, but they are marked with "N" (for NTSC) only, while all others are marked with "P/S N" (PAL/SECAM + NTSC).
