  1. analmux: I do not criticize emkay's effort, I was just complaining that it is... well.. demanding to listen so such a wrong rendition of that great song. I know emkay has not musical ear and I understand that it is difficult for him to make the tuning right. And I also appreciate his effort in exploring POKEY's possibilities. By the way, Instrumentarium is one of my favourite tunes. And it really hurts me that you say that I never post anything positive.

  2. It can be used that way (set $d030 to $01 at the start of the lower border and back to $00 at the end of the upper), but i can't actually think of a recent example right now because it isn't particularly common. There are a few games running in C64 mode that use it like Alleykat or Uridium Plus though, they throw a few more objects around.

Ok, maybe it is not as common as I suggested, but it is definitely a well documented technique. I just remember watching a recent demo (2014 or 2015) that supports this. Can't remember its name though.

  3. Is there a reason why the ZIP file is zipped twice?

The reason is to have better compression ratio - the inner zip file uncompressed to have everything as one large chunk of data. ZIP compresses each file individually so it cannot make use of repeating data among several files.

  4. Even though, "Project-M" is called a demo, it is a game already , as you search for keys to open doors. It runs at 20 fps and uses a heavy load of "on the fly register changes" to have the "APAC" mode running.

Still, to turn it into a full-featured FPS would involve a lot of CPU power needed for large sprites that must be resizeable, clipped when moving half-way behind walls, with collision detection etc. Actually I do not wonder that the work has stalled at the current phase.

  5. I'm quite a fan of the Ninja music from Mr Hubbard.

By the way, doesn't he have a bit of a passing resemblance to Jeff Minter?

As the STIL.txt in ASMA informs: Although the C64 version was composed by Rob Hubbard, Hubbard has confirmed that the Atari version isn't his.
