  1. I appreciate any help, but it tires me to repeat the same answer every time "Yes, U1MB has Side3 plugin installed" etc. (3 or 4 times in this thread already). And I cannot see on what device (laptop/computer or smartphone) you read this tread. So my sincere apologies if I sounded cranky... Will try to (re)flash the Side3 with te latest firmware, and have also a stock 800xl available. If this does not solve issues with the Side3 (or resurrect it), I very likely dump it in a big box with 'useless stuff to look at in the future (or not)'. Edit: I dumped the S3 cart for now.... Fed up with it.
  2. @BeeblebroxYes (again!), U1MB is in the machine and the Side3 plugin is installed with latest firmware of FJC. (why you keep asking this? Told this before...). Also SDX 4.49 is available etc etc... Will try to re-flash with 0.69 tomorrow.
  3. The Side3-070 version just bricked my Side3.... (I think) Oh, wel....
  4. Where can I find the O2 fixer then??
  5. I have received my Fujinet from Lotharek today. Also I have been run down by the flu a few days, so no Atari for me the last week or 2 However, my problems with Side3 are not over sadly. Often the cart causes my Atari to run the (internal) selftest.... a warm-reset does not work there, the selftest shows up in a heartbeat. Only a cold-boot (power-off -> power-on) will help. At the moment I'm pretty fed-up and highly disappointed with the side3 cart. 😒 Now some testing with the Fujinet + U1MB....
  6. @magnusfalkirk as far as I know: yes, the Side3 plugin is installed in the U1MB. (Your valid question was already asked before) Have been playing around yesterday evening and every boot/reboot now the SD card has been detected and recognised. This makes me to believe the cluster-size (set during formatting the SD cars in my PC) was the most likely culprit of my initial problem. I received an PM from someone telling me there were more issues with Side3 in combination with the U1MB, if so: think trying my solution to see if this solves it all? Thanks anyone for your input!
  7. Over a year now.. My sincere apologies. Was extremely busy here with work and private matter. Had sadly no time to toy around with my A800xl's. I think I figured out what my problem was: I formatted my 8Gbyte SD card in my PC, but changed the cluster-size to 4096 bytes, see pic below. Now my Side3 seems to have no issues with reading the SD-card.
  8. @Beeblebrox I am too busy (work/my job) at the moment to put my Atari's on the table. Thursday is a day I have the day off from work, but have other (private) plans in my schedule. So at this moment I can not answer your (valid!!!) questions.
  9. I haven't played my Atari's lately due to busy work schedule and other private things. As far as I can remember: yes on a U1MB and a stock machine.
  10. Sorry for a late update.... When I try to mount an ART in Side 3 I get a message 'Bad ATR' or something in that fashion. The ATR's work in Sdrive MAX... Also mounting an CAR file as an CART and reboot the machine result in booting to the selftest on many occasions. I have swapped the 74LS08 for an 74F08....
  11. Answers in red in the quote.... But again: I think it is also a matter of "RTFM", it is all new stuff for me.
  12. I used an 8Gbyte SD-card, gave it 2 4Gbyte partitions. Formatted one FAT, left the other one alone. Was able to create an APT partition on the SD card and format it, so succes on that part. (All of this in the U1MB/A800XL machine). Now to figure out why the SD-card is not initialized on cold-boot (acually flipping the power switch on the back of the machine)
  13. Puzzled: In my stock A800xl (swapped out the 74LS08 with an 74F08, luckily socketed) the Side3 was suddenly able to mount to D1 or D2 or...? Think I have to really 'RTFM!' ? Will need to check in my U1MB A800XL also... I was trying the mount an Atari BASIC XE cart and the BASIC XE extention disk to D1: on my stock 800XL (I have connected the SysCheck and enabled the 512Kbyte RAM to the PBI), just to see if I could get it up and running including access to the extention disk. But I think I missed a step here... Guess I have to mount DOS to D1: and the extention disk to D2:.... ?
  14. Have tested the sdinfo.xex and it works as it should. Again: first (cold) boot: no SD-card available in SIDE3. After a reboot (initiated by the SIDE3) the SD-card becomes available with no issues. When I like to mount an .ATR or other drive-image to (for example) D1: nothing happens, no mounted drive in SIDE3. Also not able to mount an .CAR or .ROM image to cart position. After booting into Sparta DOS, I get an Error 138 (device not responding) to access any drive (D1 - D8 or anyone) Or I must do something wrong in regards to mounting images.... Rewatching the video's on youtube again...
  15. I receives 4 84F08's including sockets. Swapped out one (in the U1MB machine) and is improved a lot. But it puzzles me why at cold-boot the SD-card is not recognised, but after a warm-(re)boot it seems to keep available during this. Will swap out the 74LS08 with 74F08 in my stock A800xl tomorrow. @flashjazzcat will check the tool tomorrow also. Thank you! Also will get a new Sd card just for good measure...
  16. @flashjazzcat my apologies for posting pretty late the SD-cards: I have tested with these, and I know the combo of micro-SD and an adapter are not perfect.
  17. The 74ls08 in my A800xl's are not socketed. I have ordered some 74F08 including sockets here in NLD, but the chips were not in stock (however the webshop said they were). Have to wait for delivery until at least upcoming Friday.
  18. I will post a picture of the SD-cards tomorrow. All were purchased not from flea-bay but from local shops. Also I had a response from Lotharek: replace 74LS08 with 78F08 (U18?)
  19. (I'm off to work in a few minutes) I have tested the Side3 in a stock A800XL also, same issues (no access to the SD cart and no working push-button-then-RESET procedure). This makes me think it is not related to the U1MB board installed. Your suggestion of making multiple partitions on the SD card is worth trying, but it has to wait untill monday at least. Also I have checked the Atari8.co.uk site, lots of info there and as far as I know I have the latest firmware (0.44 if my biological memory serves me right) Next week I have a few days off, but have an appointment together with my lovely wife in Amsterdam on tuesday.... (Ziggo Dome => GENESIS!)
  20. @Beeblebrox thanks... but what about the push-button on top of the cart?? this one is also not working as shown in the video of @flashjazzcat
  21. Hi all, Yesterday I received my Side3 cart and had an hour or so to get to know it. I formatted an 8Gbte SD cart (Sandisk) in Fat32 file system. At first boot, I saw a message 'no device' on the screen so I thought the SD card was faulty... Swapped the card out, but no bueno. Sometimes after a 'reboot' in teh Side3 menu the SD card will be read as it should. Also watched the videos of FJC (Side3 stand alone and Side3 with U1MB) and tried the reset procedure: push the button on top of the cart and hit reset on my A800xl... Nothing happened... (on both a stock A800xl or a U1MB A800xl). Is my Side3 buggy?? Or are there any other things I could test? (Will send Lotharek also an E-mail with this story)
  22. I am able to 'see' the ROM files in UFLASH program, I think putting BasicXE in a basic slot of U1MB is not possible. (I built the U1MB in an 800XL)
  23. Not available (yet).... (need to wait for the next pay-checks.)
  24. I have been tinkering around with U1MB and upgrading SpartaDOS to version 4.49. I succeded! Also tried to put a .rom file into a .atr file to read with UFLASH.XEX. I managed to do so: UFLASH.XEX read the .atr file and was able to read the .ROM file. Sadly Basic XE is 16kbyte, while the maximum cartridge size is 8kbyte... Anyone any ideas....?
