  1. Yes, Exploding Fist was unreleased until Piko did, the NES port was developed by Beam Software and was developed in 1989. It was going to be published by Tradewest. Having played it, yeah it would have been bad by 1989 standards but at least the game plays better than Karate Champ IMHO.
  2. The Switch is a great handheld and I enjoy playing it docked. It has a good variety of games for almost anybody's interests. If you love RPGs, the Switch has plenty of those. Indies are well represented on Switch (I enjoyed Golf Story but found the disc golf segments unenjoyable). The Switch is not lacking in action games or narrative games either.
  3. This is a certainly fascinating prototype and interesting bit of Atari history. Good that this is being preserved.
  4. The Renovation cart is what finally tipped me into buying an Evercade. Playing through Atari Collection 1 until my Namco Collection 1 arrives. So far, Adventure and Video Pinball stand out as the two best (but I haven't touched the big 1981 titles yet or anything that came after). I definitely will enjoy discovering games that I never played before on the VCS and the NES (and the Genesis would be all new to me).
  5. Fantasy Zone, Sega's contribution to the Cute-'em-up subgenre of SHMUPs, comes to Japan on November 28 as part of the Sega Ages line. https://www.siliconera.com/sega-ages-fantasy-zone-launches-in-japan-on-november-28/
  6. Sega Ages Shinobi gets a Halloween release for Japan https://gematsu.com/2019/10/sega-ages-shinobi-launches-october-31-in-japan
  7. Shinobi appears to be the next Sega Ages title for Japan. "Coming soon" (November release likely) https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/10/17/sega-ages-shinobi-is-dropping-soon-in-japan/ Will include an Arcade Mode and an Ages Mode(which is an Easy Mode that uses Joe Musashi from The Revenge of Shinobi). I'll probably buy it when it comes to the West.
  8. Columns II(with Columns I included as a bonus) & Ichidant-R come to the West on October 17. https://gematsu.com/2019/10/sega-ages-columns-ii-the-voyage-through-time-and-sega-ages-puzzle-action-ichidant-r-launch-october-17-in-the-west
  9. Good call. I think Tommy's vision is interesting but Nintendo already does part of what Tommy wants the Amico to do plus the Nintendo can do 3D games too. If Tommy has an Ecco sequel or a really good spiritual successor up his sleeve, that is at least something. Earthworm Jim is a poisoned chalice and Tommy's too stubborn to see that.
  10. Ichidant-R comes to Japan on September 26. https://gematsu.com/2019/09/sega-ages-puzzle-action-ichidant-r-launches-september-26-in-japan SEGA also showed gameplay for the Ages versions of Shinobi (with the Marilyn posters replaced by the Altered Beast werewolf); Puyo Puyo 2; and Thunder Force AC. Those three might be the October, November and December entries for Japan (if Sonic 2 isn't in there somewhere). M2 is currently working on G-Loc.
  11. A Virtual-On collection for the PS4 in Japan is coming on November 27. How knows if it will come West or to the Switch, but at least some off-topic good news for you https://gematsu.com/2019/09/cyber-troopers-virtual-on-masterpiece-19952001-for-ps4-launches-november-27-in-japan
  12. First details on SEGA Ages Ichidant-R, "coming soon" to Japanese eShop. Includes Arcade Mode (international version) and Mega Drive Mode. Probably a September release in Japan. https://gematsu.com/2019/08/sega-ages-puzzle-action-ichidant-r-first-details-screenshots
  13. Seems as if someone at SEGA is passionate about the game: M2 also seems to want to do arcade games whenever possible (which could certainly help freshen the Sega Ages line itself) and it seems the ST-V is beyond their tech. I imagine that SEGA arcade games from the late 1980s to the early to mid 1990s is full of untapped games that have never come to console.
  14. Columns II will be available in Japan on August 8. The Mega Drive/Genesis version of the original Columns game is also included in this. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/08/sega_ages_columns_ii_arrives_on_the_japanese_switch_eshop_later_this_week
  15. Bumping since Super Mario Maker 2 is coming in less than 48 hours.
  16. Sega Ages version of Space Harrier comes out in Japan on June 27: https://gematsu.com/2019/06/sega-ages-space-harrier-launches-june-27-in-japan I imagine Western release will be coming within the next few months for that.
  17. June 27 for Virtua Racing and Wonder Boy: Monster Land. I love what they did with Phantasy Star so I might buy more SEGA Ages games. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/06/virtua_racing_and_wonder_boy_monster_land_arrive_in_the_west_at_the_end_of_june
