  1. My original Intellivision is on the fritz, only working for 5 min. at a stretch. I understand this is fairly common with the INTV and was wondering if the Model II is a better bet? Also, do the games that don't run on an INTV II normally (DK, Shark! Shark!) work if I upload them with an Intellicart?

Finally, are those joystick adaptors for the INTV II joypads rare? As far as I can tell, they snap over the controller disk-thing and look hip. Any comments on either model are welcome. :)

    Thanks in advance,

  2. I would _not_ recommend the mod here on AA, unless you get lucky and find the right VCR to run the mod through :( , and I would absolutely _not_ recommend you send it to Junie's, as you will likely get nothing and lose money in the process :x

Regardless, the AA mod was a fun one to try, and if I hadn't sent my system to Junie's nearly five months ago I would try the one on the VCSp site, as most ppl seem to have had great success with it.

@Rob: any chance you could post a photo of your system? It sounds hip, plus I'm jealous of the Starplex controller to begin with ;)

  3. I just got my Intellicart yesterday, and must give a huge thumbs up again to Chad, and one to Brian (?) for keeping these available. I highly recommend anyone on the fence get one, as they have very few left: http://edisplay.com/intellicart/.

With that out of the way, what do I do with this thing? Specifically, where do I find "images" "binaries" "ROMS" etc? The Cuttle Cart is a godsend in its own right, but having AA to get the roms from makes the product worthwhile.

Is there any site similar to this for the Intellivision? From what I can gather, there is a lot more politic to getting these vs. 2600 games. All I can find is many dead links and the Blue Sky Rangers site, and I'm wondering were to get anything but the roms that came with the cart, and the DOOM rom, of course ;)

    Thanks in advance,

  4. Just fired this up on the CC myself. This is great stuff! The field effect around the enemies is awesome, and the AI should prove to be a welcome challenge.

The only negative I see is that the player "leads" a little bit beyond where you are trying to go, ie. turning a corner and then ducking back to avoid a shot is tough, maybe b/c the chopper is harder to weild and larger than Pac Man. Robot is a super diversion from Malgai and Mrs. Pacman; looking forward to see how it develops!

On a side note: I just bought an Intellicart, and it looks like they only have 5 or so left:http://edisplay.com/intellicart/. FYI.

  5. Thanks for the replies. I was just trying to bump the article, b/c people should at the very least be aware that in my experience it is taking him a very long time to send products, and that there doesn't seem to be a way to get in touch with him.

The [ :? ] meant to imply that I am confused as to whether or not it was the case that he is scamming people, literally or relatively. Apparently several of you have also given him $, but haven't gotten anything. When you offer a product for sale the understanding is that it is immediately available for purchase, unless stated. I think it is misleading to do otherwise.

And Tom, when my controllers arrive.... I will certainly make a post on your behalf.

So will I when I get my system, of course :)

  6. Amen. To change the topic ever so slightly, does anyone remember the "Orange Ranger" hoax like this ever so long ago (1994?) on RGVC? That was the first fake 2600 game incident I remember, and it ended with the forger slinking away quietly, as I'd imagine this one does...Ah, the memories :P

  7. In May of this year, I sent payment and my Atari 2600 to Tom @ http://juniescreations.netfirms.com/, with the understanding that he was producing 15-pin systems w/ composite video out. He and I have emailed sporatically since then, and now it seems I've lost a way to get in touch with him: I've gotten no response to either my emails to [email protected], or the PM I sent via AAge.

:? Is there a better way to reach him? :?

Tom seems legit, and this is likely a non-event. I know several ppl here have seen (and AAge has announced) several of his products, but it has been three months after paying for an item that was proported to be ready back then, and now I can't get in touch with the guy who has my $ and my system. :(

Has anyone else recieved or bought a 15-pin VCS? If my backup system I've been using in the meantime had a good video signal I would be more patient, but now I'm starting to be worried...

    Thanks in advance,

  9. @NoahsMyBro: check this http://www.atariage.com/features/contests/...Plus/index.html. I _think_ this is a final "ruling" of sorts, but could be wrong. In the game where I got that score, I got sooooo close to the same place Ubersaurus and KrisJohn did, but couldn't turn that long corridor. Four ships and a lot of cursing later and that was that.

@Cybertom: I'm guessing you beat that level to get your score, yes?

Regardless, it was a fun comp on a great game :) We should have another one for kicks to try and beat it once everyone has the new version.

  10. Jahfish sent me an email a few weeks ago that the packages should have been going out around now. I expected to be playing the game by now, but I also thought the 2600 I sent to Junie's to be modded in May would be in my hands as well... :?

Kinda makes SNK's whole release strategy of waiting until the product was essentially ready to release before announcing it make sense. :) Oh, well.

  11. SPACEMASTER X-7 ROCKS

Agreed! I just fired this up on the CC after reading this thread, and must say this is a sweet little piece! This is one of the more rare games (6?) that I'd put some time into. Recommended. :)

  12. Not so much an inquiry into regret (i.e. the games that got thrown out, etc.), but more an interest into how ppl percieve rare 2600 games.

I was just playing Gauntlet on the CCart, and its a pretty hip game, but the draw is mostly how rare it is rather than any nostalgic connection to the title, which is usually at least a significant part of the attraction in games on older systems for me.

Does anyone fire up Chuckwagon and remember playing it when it came out? Who owned carts like this back in the day? Did anyone get Eli's Ladder for Christmas one year? How were some of these carts rated 10 on the list acquired? All of them can't have been originally found by collectors in thrifts, I'm guessing. Considering there are only several known Malgai's (a great game, BTW), most owners must have purchased them themselves, or at least know who did.

And just in case Rolenta responds: I read your book, and highly recommend it to anyone interested in firsthand knowledge of obscure VG stuffs. Not that anyone else here doesn't have some good stories ;)

    Thanks,
