  1. It's great to hear these are close to being shipped out. I can't wait to play the game with a DC. In the meantime, here's a Java Version of Thrust on C64: http://www.dreamfabric.com/c64/. Bottom right. Not to beat a dead horse, but I did make 4th place (i.e. cart #4), yes?
  2. (takes this thread fully off topic...)Hey, cheers! NYC is so devoid of climbing, save some bouldering in Central Park, and of course the Gunks up North if I had time. Quite jealous! Where do you climb?(wait for it...) And, isn't Crazy Climber a sweet game?
  3. Almost simply out of principle: What Happened To My Email? I sent in a score putting me 500 odd points out of third place, abiding by all rules. Albert / Alex might be able to clear this up, and I'm surprised they haven't already. Thanks
  4. Boo. Where did this email goto? I timestamped the event on this thread too. Time is EST. Also: does this mean I have until Sunday to resend a score? WTF?
  5. Ah ah; oh. Now that 500 points seems all the more frustrating. From Thomas' quotes, it looks like this conversation may be moot anyway...If someone got a huge score on an emulator, I hope they didn't use save states.
  6. And I haven't lost by so little although, for reasons I still can't fathom, 3rd place gets free shipping while 2nd does not. Eh? This was a great contest: I haven't gotten so much use out of my 2600 for a long time.
  7. @ubersaurus: that's the same level I bit it on. Getting past the gate is OK, but past that it was all over. Must tap out, work in 4 hours.
  8. I was wondering about lurkers too. I'm surprised more ppl. didn't post about the contest...I'd settle for top 10. If I'd had more time, starting on Normal might have honed my game. After loosing 4 guys on one section on level 21, I'm not sure I'd like to try it again. Jeez.
  9. AHHHHH!!!AHHHHH!!!AHHHHH!!!AHHHHH!!!AHHHHH!!! ... Dang. Nice job - did you beat level 21?
  10. @ubersaurus: so what was your score I could've topped 186K at the point I got to, but wimped out on level 5(?), where you have to be perfect to blow up the plant and escape...
  11. @Chris Johnson: so you 193K was the top score? Congrats! Level 21 has absolutely (first purple, normal, reverse gravity) fried my patience. We should have another contest for kicks when we all get Thrust+!
  12. Because Atari.net email appears to be down: 184710! Just under the wire...I'll try my other email acct, but just wanted to timestamp it here
  13. Thirdeded To give a critique: after playing this game incessantly for the past week, about the only suggestion I could offer would be to impliment the changes you've already made in Thrust+. It will be so sweet to do this: (Thrusting with shield on). My score right now is 181560. I'll give it another shot before this contest ends in 2 hours, but I really can't see myself doing any better: the game requires such precise control and my only working stick (Mindscape Powerplayer) doesn't really offer the finesse I'd like. Plus, I'd need an extra pack of smokes to beat level 24 (so...close). Bah. One more shot.
  14. Just to clarify: does "Sunday at midnight" come right after 11:59 Saturday night, or just before 12:01 Monday? The wording is kinda ambiguious, and I'd rather not send in a score 24 hours late Good luck! (to all three of us, it seems)
  15. quote Sweet! I got sniped when the last one went up on eBay. When and where?
  16. After just finishing a game I must say a more precise way to aim (and not inadvertently thrust) will be a blessing. Whew! @ Thomas: what's your high score?
  17. quote Thank you! As it is now, playing Thrust is a 45 min commitment. Not that I have anything better to do Disabling the guns is a bonus I often overlook. 15 times is one too many... So 200K is the top score possible on Rookie?
  18. Yes, it is _just_ possible on Level 5. It is strange that the original programmer organized Levels 4 and 6 that way: after realizing there is no way to remove the pod and destroy the planet, it almost looks like a waste. I can't wait to be able to more easily thrust and activate shields in Thrust+. What will some of the graphical enhancements be in this new version?
  19. I was having a great game, only to watch in horror as I lost 5 ships in a row after my WICO stick broke. Reverse gravity is not a forgiving environment. I forget the name of my erstwhile stick, but it looks like the Epyx one pictured earlier in this thread, except it is covered with white rubber, and IMO much more responsive. At least it was @ Thomas: how about level 4 (?) where you must detonate the plant, then navigate 2 screens before hitting the surface. How in the world can one beat this? On rev. gravity I guess you could get out more easily. Thrust is one tough cookie!
  20. @ Thomas: but then why put it in the game? Not that I'm complaining, just curious. It will be so sweet to use a driving controller in Thrus+. Finding a joystick sensitive enough is proving a task in itself. My WICO just crapped out on me yesterday.
  21. [bump] @ Chris Johnson: holy snot! 128,760 is the score to beat, yes? You must have nerves of steel, man. Congrats. Have you gotten to the "something even more deadly" levels on Expert? Also, is it possible to hit the nuclear pplant that looks to be burried below the ground (level 5 or 6)? Is it possible to clear every level and detonate the plant? This game rocks! Show of hands: how many ppl are in this contest? I'm still trying to break 75K, and get my camera working Sunday is a long day...
