They switch ok but you have to get used it

For my three 60-in-1 conversions I choose to use that card for 3 different cabinet based on the controls, 8-way and track ball games in one, 4-way games in another and 2 way games in another.
For the amount of money it costs to build these modded machines it just didn't make sense to try and cram all of the games I wanted to play into one cabinet
However, on my 19-in-1, I went with a pair of Ultimarc Mag Plus sticks that can be switched from the top of the panel.
I really didn't want to have 3 horizontally oriented cabinets with 2-3 games on each. However, I am using a relay and switch system to re-configure the controls for the different games on that board.

It looked like it was in attract mood and the person was just pretending to play.

This is the second Arcade1Up modding thread that I posted that seem to be of not interest to the members of this forum.
I guess I'm in the wrong forum.
I would really like to find a group that likes to discuss these machines so does anyone know of a forum more dedicated to Arcade1 Up?
I did some Binging and nothing really showed up.

In anticipation of modding my Arcade1Up Asteroids Cabinet into a William 19-in-1 I have been all of the net gathering info and one thing seemed common. To date no one has come up with a good solution for the control panel layout for the 19-in-1 card
Most use multiple joysticks and some use interchangeable panel, neither of those appealed to me so I put my 30+ years of experience as an aircraft electrician to use and I think I came up with a good solution.
This info is applicable for the board set to Upright/2set of Controls.
I used Ultimarc Mag Stick Plus Joy Sticks because they can be switched for 4-way to 8-way operation from the top of the control panel. This so you do not have to have multiple sticks to paly the different games.
In order to preserve the original Defender/Stargate button Layout I had to use 2 DPDT relays and a switch. These relays provide normal player 1 / 2 operation when the Defender switch is off but when it is on, it reroutes all of the appropriate control signals to the respective wires on the Jamma harness.
The only change to the original Defender/Stargate Button layout is the addition of 2 buttons for the right hand joystick that offer S1 and S2 function to Player 1 for the rest of the games and should not interfere with Defender/Stargate Gameplay
PANEL LAYOUT
RELAY 1 -SWITCH RELAY
Normal Operation – Right hand (player 2 ) red (S1) and white (S2) buttons go through the Normally Closed contacts of the relay to the Jamma Harness Player 2 S1 and S2 wires
Defender/Stargate Operation –Player 2 S1 and S2 are re-routed to the Jamma harness Player 1 S1 and S3 wires through the Nornally Open contacts of the relay
Additional Info – Player 1 red button (S1) and green button (S3) are connected in parallel to the respective Jamma harness wires at the relay so that in the Normal operation the Player 1 buttons control the appropriate functions.
RELAY 2 –JOYSTICK RELAY
Normal Operation – Player 2 Up and Down functions go through the relay to the Jamma Harness Player 2 Up and Down Wires.
Defender/Stargate Operation –Player 1 Up and Down functions are re-routed to the relay to the Jamma Harness Player 2 Up and Down Wires, that way, both players can use the LH Joystick.
Additional Info – Player 1 Up and Down functions are wired in parallel with the respective Jamma harness wire at the relay so that in Normal operation the right hand joystick control the Up and Down functions for Player 1
Normal Operation – Player 1 left and right functions go through the relay to the Jamma Harness Player 1 left and right wires Wires,
Defender/Stargate Operation –Player 1 Left and Right functions are disables because the isn’t any connection to the Jamma Harness.
I'm waiting on parts for my conversion so this info is based on what I have researched on multiple forums and web sites
Once I build my machine I will be able to confirm that this works but if anyone sees any issues post below

I guess you guys are more interested in discussing missile command then modding a machine.
I'll quit wasting my time updating this thread.

I'm in the process of converting 2 AIU games into multicades and I plan to convert a couple more.
If I could find a inexpensive source for the LCD monitors I could use the AIU control panel and LCD diver board to create some countercades
I plan to order Blackout edition Marques so I could even use those for the top

As far as I know, the 60-in-1 doesn't have any repeated games. On my card there's about 10 -14 games that I have no desire to play so they'll be disabled.
I have read that 8-way sticks can cause problems in a 4-way games if you hit a diagonal direction.
So I started to think about making 3 separate 60-in-1 machines and the more I thought about it the more I liked the idea of not having so many games in a single cabinet.
PLUS it gives me a reason to mod some of my favorite cabinets - Galaga, Pacman and Centipede.
-
Can't wait to see the video
Is you game list the same as the normal 60-in-1?
How does it work with the mix of 8/4/2 way Joystick Games?
How is your menu system set up

I've decided to convert my AIU factory Centipede machine into a custom 12-in-1 using most of the 60-in-1 kit from DIY Retro Arcade
It will feature a custom control panel, Arcade Graphix Kick Panel graphics and a black out edition Marquee from The Arcade Game Factory
I’m going to use this one as a dedicated Vertical 8-way Joystick / Trackball machine and it will have the following games from the 60-in-1:
CENTIPEDE
TB
FIRE
MILIPEDE
TB
FIRE
GALAGA 3
8
FIRE
XEVIOUS
8
BLASTER / ZAPPER
ZAXXON
8
FIRE
SCRAMBLE
8
LASER / BOMBS
TIME PILOT
8
FIRE
1942
8
FIRE / LOOP
1943
8
A / B
SUPER COBRA
8
GUNS / ROCKETS
CONGO BONGO
8
JUMP
BOMB JACK
8
JUMP
The highlighted games might get dropped depending on how the 60-in-1 menu reacts when I disable the rest of the other games
I know I lose Missile Command and Crystal Castles from the factory Game but I’m not really fond of either of those games anyway
-
I figured a 2-way would work well on a restricted 4-way joy stick but I like the idea of having all the space /shooter games on the Galaga cabinet and all of the Donkey Kong / Pac Man type games on another
I just hope that when you disable a game there isn't a blank spot where it was in the menu.
I would hate to have 12 games spread out over 10 menu pages.

I’ve decided to build three dedicated 60-in-1 machines
I’m going to convert my Arcade1Up Centipede game into a Centipede/Millipede/ 8-way Joy Stick Game
Then I’ll convert a Arcade1Up Galaga Game into a 2-way Joy Stick Game
And I’ll use a Arcade1up Pacman Cabinet for the 4-way joy stick gamesDoes all of that sound like it will work?
-
I have the room for at least 10 machines so I would rather have a couple dedicated 60-in-1 machines instead of trying to figure out which are 4-way and which are 8
You also have the added advantage of reduced menus.
Here is my list, if the 2 way games can be played with a restricted 4-way joy stick I would have one machine with 30/31 games and another with 8-9 games

It looks like I may have to build 2 different 60-in1 machines.
One with 4 way joy sticks and one with 8 way.
I'm building my 19-in-1 first so I guess I have a better understanding of this once that's done
-
"Plus you aren't limited to 60 games."
I have been looking at the lists of these other systems that claim to have 1000+ games.
It's easy to pad the numbers when you have 98 Street Fighter versions listed...….
I look at a 60-in-1 (vertical) and I see about 40 games that I'm completely happy with and the 19-in-1 (horizontal) has about 12 games I would play often.
So I don't really see the large game lists as a positive.
-
Say you're building a 60-in-1
The games use a variety of Joystick configurations such as 8-way, 4-way, 2 way vertical and 2 way horizontal
If you install an 8-way joy stick does the game just not respond if you accidently go in a direction not needed for that game?
Or does it call problems.
-
"when you finish/lose a game it dumps you back to the iCade menu"
That doesn't sound good.
Even if you trim half the game from the 60-in-1 menu it would be aggravating to go back to the same game ever time
-
What's the advantage of using a computer or RPi VS a 60-in-1 or a even a 19-in-1?
-
I'm going to convert an A1U Asteroids Game into a Williams 19-in-1 multigame
I know this process can be frustrating due to the complicated layout of the Defender/Stargate controls
I think I have that part figured out but I can't be sure until I understand how the controls are mapped for each game
I created this table but could only find the mapping for Defender/StarGate
If you are 100% positive of the mapping for the other games please post below
I will use this thread to document my progress.
Thanks

Suggestions for 4 & 8 way convertible arcade stick?
in Classic Console Discussion
Posted
I have them and don't think they have a short throw, I just hate the Bate Tops and you have to buy Ball Top Sticks for $14 each of you want to change them
