can it be a liquidation if Sears aren't actually going out of business? they'll still have 1,000+ stores

I read about it in the paper this morning. It will be a liquidation for this particular store. They're not going to spend the money to ship all the stuff to the other stores. That would cost them more than selling everything at a discount.

so they're mis-using the term "liquidaton" then ? liquidation is a means to turn assets into cash - usually due to bankruptcy or a need to pay creditors
