I'm convinced that printing is getting more and more broken as people use it less and less.

Used to have that problem when I'd go to print a web page. Only certain things, like border crap would print, but not the body or pertinent info. That was when I still messed with Windoze machines though. Not sure why an e-mail wouldn't print. Guess check the printer settings or hit "preview" first, then print from that? That's another scenario I deal with at work.
