  1. Is there a cranberry shortage or what?  I can't find cranberry sauce anywhere.

Nothing like hearing the *shlorp* noise of cranberry sauce coming out of a can.

I have the opposite problem - I want the can shaped sauce, my wife hates it, and it's just my wife and I making Thanksgiving dinner.  Maybe we will have a friend or two over.

Then I forget to take the can out of the pantry, because I'm already full and nobody else wants it.  So last year's can is still there!  Will I remember this year, who knows!

  2. Found out this morning that my cousin died in a car accident last night.  She was about 36.  I'm in shock.

  3. Some a**hole just called at 8:53 am on a Saturday.  If it were family, friend, or an emergency that would be fine, but it wasn't.

Is this the American equivalent of British stoicism? There's an entire SWAT team outside and you're thinking "Asshole" for waking you up. There's probably an honourary British citizenship in that for you.

One time, a wrong number called at about 1 a.m. or so. Luckily I was up at the time or else nobody would have answered.

People smarter and with more authority have decided it is acceptable terminology. That's all you need to know.  Try again.

Still waiting on your contextually proper defense of the word.  You plan on throwing a party later with the other high school seniors to celebrate your "win"?  I know a guy who can get you the beer, but it's gonna cost you some interest.

Sigh... Common usage/acceptable terms means that using "savings" is accepted..and more importantly accepted by those with authority or meaningful input on it(i.e. NOT you...lol)   Enough said...keep trying to stop much of the world from using "savings" and we'll keep on using it and we'll see who wins....

I grew up in North Florida, and only weigh about 135 pounds.

Thirty years of living in the cold, snowy mountains, and I STILL kinda shut down this time of year.

Can't stand it. It's pretty, and I like the idea of the naturally enforced isolation, lol, but I hate it, I'm sure my typical S.A.D. is gonna kick in anytime now.

We hit a low of 31F in Rhode Island this morning. I still think this beats 98F and dying.

I can't wait to find out if Linus wastes another year in the pumpkin patch.  Also will Charlie Brown try to kick that football, and get

nothing but rocks when he trick or treats.

    2. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Just once,  I'd like to see a sequel...Where Linus wises up,  They all go trick or treating, Charlie Brown gets some candy bars,  ...and Charlie Brown kicks Lucy right through the goal posts!

  8. Are you giving out tricks or treats this year?   Right now I'm thinking we aren't going to, but there is still a little time to change my mind.

We were planning on it, but it sounds like my wife organized last-minute trick or treating for my kid and a friend from school, so we might actually be going out.  Not sure if it's still happening, so it might be a last-minute call.  The last 10+ years we've hardly had ANY trick or treaters at our house, though.  Usually only one or two groups of kids the whole night.

    3. Hwlngmad

      Hwlngmad

Yep, but need to pick up the candy tomorrow when I go out grocery shopping.  Also, gotta escort the kiddo around the neighborhood for an hour or so.

    4. cathrynm

      cathrynm

Where I am, basic no kids ever show up anyway. So there's no point, really.  Also I'm always dieting, and don't like to have the temptation of leftover candy in the house.

  9. HUGE sigh of relief.  I thought the Heat/Ac had shut down like early this past summer, but it had only been turned off.

    1. Hwlngmad

      Hwlngmad

Heating and/or AC issues are not joke.  Glad it was nothing serious at all.

  10. The peaches this year weren't all that great.  We did get one good bunch in NC on the way home from the beach.   The ones we got in MD at home were hard as rocks except for one bunch early in the season.

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Same.  This year I bought some store bought peaches and nectarines and they were not good at all...But I found some Palisades peaches for sale from a farmer parked outside a Verizon Store/Men's Wearhouse and those were extremely Yummy!

  12. My Mom got a Covid19 test and it came back negative.  She had been to a club to see a band and one her friends who was there tested positive a few days later, so my Mom had to get tested.

A friend of mine is waiting the results of his test. He found out his uncle had it right after returning home after it took two weeks for the notice to get to him from our health department. His uncle isn't doing well at all, but my friend arrived a day after the quarantine period and avoided contact. Really, it's his mom that is the worry as that is her brother and she saw him before it was detected.

      _The Doctor__

simbalion, now that is more of a worry. don't miss a beat... fast attention to the broad array of treatments being key. A good Doctor may offer a prophylactic or proactive treatment approach in this case. Can't hurt to touch base and see, always best to try.

He messaged me the other night about that, but now HE has a bigger worry. Woke up in pain this morning and he found out he has a blood clot in one of his lungs. Just found out a little bit ago. He is in the ER now.

  18. The phishing scam telephone calls piss me off.  It really makes me angry to know that some people will fall for it.

Trea Turner hit his 3rd career cycle.  I know it's incredibly hard to do but I don't see the big deal.  I would rather have 4 HR.

  25. Our AC got fixed yesterday.  We were lucky they had an opening so we didn't have to wait until today.

Two other companies we called wouldn't have been able to get here until Thursday or Friday.
