  1. Very nice!! 🤩 Can't wait to see what the ADAM edition looks like.
  2. So sad to hear this. 😔 Back when I got my first (used) ADAM in the late 80s I went to Rich's house and bought an ADAMLink modem from him. I was a young ADAM newbie and he was so nice that he spent time with me showing me how to use the modem and the software. When I brought my ADAM out of storage a few years ago I put the word out that I was looking for a new keyboard and to my surprise Rich's daughter replied. A few days later there I was standing in Richard's house again after 30+ years! Rich was so nice again and it was just a surreal experience being back in that same room where I had sat with him learning about ADAMLink so many years before. RIP.
  3. Ok, so after some further testing it seems that my issue is not likely related to the MIB238 at all. Going back to my original thinking that "something" might be wrong with my ADAM - maybe getting cranky in his old age. 🙃 I seem to get the same issue (intermittently) regardless of whether the MIB238 is installed or not. I guess I was just getting lucky on that day I first removed the MIB. I have since tried with the following setups: simple addressor card + 256K RAM expander ADAMLink modem (yeah) + addressor card + RAM expander just the RAM expander no cards at all I've have randomly (and sometimes persistently) experienced the issue with all of the above setups so yeah, it's not the MIB238. Not sure if my external (Walters) power supply could cause this but maybe? I'll dig out my SmartWRITER printer (after I make some room) and give it a try with that too.
  4. 🧐 Interesting… do you get the same issue as me (blank screen + solid audio tone on boot) or something different? Also, I don’t currently have my FujiNet device hooked up.
  5. No problem! I haven’t bothered you with it because I thought it might be a problem with my ADAM and wanted to do some troubleshooting on my own. I have no issue with the digitizer at this point and don’t want to return/exchange it. 😊 Since I pulled out the MIB 238 it’s been working perfectly. It’s a great product! To answer your question, sometimes I’ve had weird glitches with other cartridges too like random characters or incorrect colours however since I removed the MIB 238 I haven’t had any of those problems either. Mind you…it has only been a day so this isn’t a large sample of time. FWIW, My MIB is not the WiFi variant.
  6. Thanks so much for sharing this video @rietveld - very helpful! 🤩 I'm curious - do you by any chance have an MIB238 card installed in the ADAM that you used the Dyomite 2 cart with? I'm only asking because (as you know from our PMs) I was having trouble getting my Dynomite cartridge to work. Whenever I turned on my computer with the cartridge installed it would just produce a strange steady tone. I thought something might be wrong with my ADAM (there still might be) but today I decided to remove the cards I have installed in the slots (I have an MIB238 and a 256K expander) and try the Dynamite cart again. And to my surprise it worked! I tried with just the memory expander installed and it still worked. However, when I install the MIB238 and I get the same result as before - a blank screen and a steady tone. Pretty weird problem but I am happy that I can at least finally play around with my Dynomite 2! Please let me know if you are able to use the Dynomite 2 cart in an ADAM with the MIB238 installed or maybe @Tekman might be able to verify as well.
  7. ? /me frantically begins refreshing email client.
  8. Nicely done!! What an excellent port. I love that you kept the Windows UI chrome on the small board size!
  9. Donated this morning and I hope all ADAM fans do the same. I've spent hours reading the newsletters I've downloaded from your site's amazing collection and I would seriously miss your site if it went away!
  10. Yep, it's looking that way. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.
  11. Yes, I have. And I have the baud rate set to 9600 on both sides.
  12. ADAMLink V with the display option set to “Both”.
  13. Gave it a try with on the ThinkPad with PuTTY running under Windows 7 and the Prolific drivers installed and the adapter assigned to COM4. Still no luck... PuTTY window stays blank.
  14. I actually have an old ThinkPad that I'm going to install Windows 7 on and see what comes of that. FWIW the H19 terminal program I am using on my Raspberry Pi Zero W is h19term.
  15. Thanks for the info. Yeah, this is where I'm showing my ignorance because in my mind I was just thinking a serial port is a serial port is a serial port. I didn't realize they are wired uniquely for their specific purposes. Back in my PC/DOS days COM1: was the same as COM2: save for the addresses and IRQs. Anyway that probably explains the garbled text when connecting the modem to the Terminal port.
  16. Good point about the ports and the adapter/cable. I hadn't thought about that. But no, I personally haven't had any previous success using the Terminal port and hooking up to anything.
  17. That was a great suggestion! I did exactly that. The good news is that I know what the problem is. The bad news is that it appears that my Terminal header is indeed faulty. After hooking the modem up to the Terminal pins and setting up ADAMLink V accordingly (MIB2 2), I can no longer use the wifi modem. Trying to type anything like AT commands just results in random characters on screen. See the attached screenshots.
  18. Thanks @rietveld for your detailed help! I followed your instructions and the Pi did respond in the expected way through all of it however I'm still not getting any output from the ADAM. I also tried screen /dev/ttyUSB0 just to see if anything would come through on the device but nothing shows up. Attaching a screenshot of the output from dmesg:
  19. Today I came across a really nice Z80 Reference app on the iOS App Store of all places. It includes a complete guide to the Z80 instruction set and even includes some sample code for each instruction. All for the low price of $0.00. ? Thought it might be useful to some folks here. Z80 Reference app for iOS
  20. Hi @rietveld I've been trying to get a similar setup working with my ADAM & MIB238 but so far haven't been able to get any 80-column output. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with my cabling setup. I have the ribbon cable (by John Lundy) going from the MIB238 Terminal pins to a 25pin -> 9pin adapter. Connected to that I have a 9pin serial to usb cable which is then connected to the Pi Zero. Here are the parts I'm using: 9-pin to USB serial cable: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00425S1H8 25-pin to 9-pin adapter: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00005117M The 9-pin to USB serial cable is using the Prolific chipset and the Pi is detecting it at /dev/ttyUSB0 but I'm just not getting anything appearing in the H19 terminal window. Could you give me any hints or maybe link me to the exact cable setup you're using?
  21. Nice! What's the switch you're using to change VGA inputs?
  22. Did you get the ADAM beige one?
