  1. ...and then to have it come after you to take revenge...unless we make a ms.Frankentari?
  2. Actually a good point. But lets say you had some tech-geek who had like 3 or 4 5200 units that had broken down on different areas of hardware... But anyway, as I don’t know much about hardware, I was just asking. Perhaps, for all I knew, all it would take would be some analogue-joystick hardware, put it them toether in the right manner, and then it would work. But if one would have to pick apart several 5200s to make one converter, you sure have a point man.
  3. I can start: Pole Position has 1 qualify-round, then 4 laps of the actual race. When last lap is done, you are waved in with flags, and you’ve won the game. So: Pole Position.
  4. I’m impressed. Thanks a lot for info. Now; how is the palette for the 5200? What colour would the ‘overlay-colour’ be if you put Player0 and Player1 on top of each other? Would they follow ‘logical’ colour-rules: red + blue = purple, blue + yellow = green etc, or something completely different?
  5. What would be the atteaction: You buy a 7800 with a 5200-converter-thing. Then you can play 1) 2600 games 2) 5200 games 3) 7800 games on the the same console unit.
  6. Perhaps we should voice a wish for a Retron-style universal Atari-console that can play any (original)atari cartridge from any atari-console, with high-quality controllers?
  7. ? So the 5200 is strong enough to run 7800 games, or does it contain additional hardware-units?
  8. Please post titles of 5200 games which you know can be completed, have an end-of-game-scene or definitively goes back to round 1 after many rounds and actually do display it as round 1 (even though you may retain the score).
  9. But there’s a ton of 5200 games displaying what to me appears to be multicoloured sprites: the F1 car in Pole Position, the Pengo-character, snowbees and ice-blocks in ‘Pengo’, the hero, and enemies and pick-up animals in Gremlins ... etc etc etc. To me, it certainly looks like the 5200 can display multicoloured sprites and/or movable objects.
  10. Thanks. It really fits/suits the system well. Music isn’t that important in this game. I love the Arcade-version.
  11. Would it opens for really, really tall sprites, but not very broad unless you use two of the eight in beside each other as one object? Could the missiles be almost infinite vertically, or limited like only four up- or down-wards? I’ve seen many multicolored figured on Atari5200 games: how is that pulled off? Using more than one sprite on same object?
  12. And it plays what on what, and funtions as to quality how well?
  13. I really do have appreciated your enormous info-and-review output on retro-gaming, but, since I’m a bit into grfx, drawing and art, I’must put in that the graphics of Ninja Golf is very (!) good... -Consistent style -Splendid use of colours -Many parallaxes -Very fine horizons -Nice blend of semi-cartoonish/half-realistic figures and cartoonish monsters (frogs and the dragon) - smoot animations - many varied (and humourous) scrolling-fields. This is easily Graphics: 9,5/10 Sound could have been better though..., I agree there...
  14. So, anyone knows how Klax works?’ Does it just bug or end suddenly after a few levels with a messy screen, or does it play endlessly on a couple of levels?
  15. What are the sprite-limitations or options on the 5200? Can you just pick 3 colours and one transparent, then its all good, or are there stricter limitstions? How many frames can sprites have?
  16. Playthroughs on YouTube shows the game can be completed. Any of you played it? Are the glitches of crashdetection or close-up-combat endurable or a does it kill the game-experience?
  17. « Word has it that the reason TNT didn't release Chuck Norris was that they couldn't find a cartridge strong enough to hold his game. « 😂😂😂🤣😆
  18. You didn’t mention Dark Chambers... On ‘advanced’, it could be a challenge for both 1P and 2P.
  19. Ha ha - someone need to be the first’ to ‘break the code’ for mastering touchdown football 🙂
  20. Is the Ms.Pac Man here the standard 7800 version with additional games in the package, or is also Ms PacMan redone? — cool joystick you had there
  21. I’ve test-tried Midnight Mutants on emu, waiting for the PAL version in the mail. Perhaps I’ll review it then. Agree with many of titles, but not tht Ranpage is boring alone. With my brother we could keep on using infinte continues, and we went through all named 132 cities. Single player I last 7 or 8 cities. — I’ve not gotten in to prototypes or homebrews as of yet, so don’t know.’ — question: I liked the parallaxing field of touchdown football and the grfx on the players; is there a good way to learn to handle/master it well?
  22. If there was a way to play 5200 titles on the 7800 console, it would be sort of a back-compatibility making lots of high-quality early 3gen. games play on a the late 3gen 7800. Would it be possible as to hardware and software? Could a 7800 read an analogue joystick-input given a converter?
  23. We all have our favourites. Whats your top 10 or top 15 Atari 7800 titles?
  24. Well, I’m European, and my first 7800 was a PAL version, and PAL editions of Motor Psycho is not hard to get a ebay. Not necessarily expensive either. I use jump mostly when I know there’s a straight. Getting used to gear-down to break or let go of acceleration in turns, is paramount, but high difficulty-level for sure. I would give it 8/10 for a 8-bit racer. PP2 is 9/10: colourful and playable.
