  1. News regarding the dev as posted on Discord by @Jani Penttinen @everyone I just heard from @zapposh | pixel games! He's alive, but in a serious condition. He gave me permission to deliver this message to the VCS community. He will post here later, but it may be much later. He caught a bad case of Covid-19, and was in coma for 2 months. He is still in intensive care at the hospital and it will take a long time to recover. I know everyone's been wondering what happened to Donut Dodo and where did he disappear - now we know. Please keep him in your thoughts! He is a dear member of our community, and an amazing game developer. As some of you know, I was hospitalized with Covid in December and I can tell you, recovery from it was not easy. I was nowhere near as seriously sick as he was, so he will need a lot of time. Most important is that he is awake from coma - with Covid, when they put you in coma, that's kind of the last possible thing the doctors can do to save your life. Very sad but hopefully he will make a full recovery and be back at it as soon as he's healthy again. Thank you Jani for the update. Keep us informed if there are any changes.
  2. That was very cool and really well done! I loved the sound effects you added too!
  3. I enjoy my 7800s. I have one that I play all the time and a nicer, shinier one for show. Pros: plays 2600 games as well as 7800 nice graphics lots of cool new homebrews all the time sleek modern look Cons: sound sucks proline controllers are terrible small original library (great for collecting though!) some third party 2600 games will not fit in the slot easily Many of the cons can be overcome easily though. The Proline controllers can be upgraded to CX78 game pads. These are pretty nice (think NES pad) except the action buttons are placed a little awkwardly. The small original library can be overcome with some of the awesome homebrews out there. Additionally, there is an adapter for tight fitting 2600 games, or you can modify the 7800 cart slot if that's your thing, to make them fit. Overall I would highly recommend the 7800 for any classic console collector because it is versatile and fun. Good luck and happy gaming!
  4. Well, I'm back from four days in the hospital.  I had a heart attack on Sunday morning and will need to make a few changes in my life.  Luckily the surgeon was able to open up my arteries through my wrist without cracking my chest.  So glad to be home though.

  5. So, what is this community here for then if we are not here to help one another? Creators, technical assistants, help desk, hardware engineers, software engineers, players, manufacturers are all part of this community. It may not be our job but it is the right thing to do and I will not hesitate to help someone that I think I can provide assistance to. My base is limited as far as technical knowledge, but if I know how to solve a problem for someone then I will assist if I am asked (which is the case when posting on a public forum). As for being an attorney, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? That's a pretty personal attack there to go along with a motive you can't substantiate. I'd recommend that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. If you are so sensitive about others opinions and posts I would definitely not recommend going to the 2600, 5200 or heaven forbid.....the Jaguar forums!
  6. I really don't think this is a fair assessment of @SoCalAttorney position here. I have seen no clause against transferability of the warranty in any of their literature, and seeing that the VCS has only been out for a little over a year, Atari can safely assume that his/her issues with the VCS fall within the 12 month warranty afforded to every new VCS even without a receipt of purchase. SoCalAttorney was just trying to give us the full procedural movement and customer service experience from Atari, not just ranting and venting (although that is a byproduct of any customer service experience). When you have a small community of people on forums you do tend to get the extreme examples of good and bad experiences. I do hope that SoCalAttorney revises their position with regard to just outright selling the new VCS when it arrives. It truly is a fun machine and hopefully with the OS update that is coming (eventually) it will be an even better experience. There are some excellent looking games on the horizon and it seems that Atari are committed to the success of the VCS. It would be a shame to lose a user/community member due to a less than stellar customer service or warranty experience.
  7. Home sick from work again.  Diarrhea is not fun.

I used to have bouts of it plus periodic constipation until I started taking fiber twice a day (natural psyllium husk). It makes you regular and pretty much you wake up in morning, use commode, and no more throughout the day (maybe a small one every other day around 4pm). Average person has like 5-10 pounds of waste in their bowels -- keeps them from being regular, and it's bad for immune system.

Target has it in their brand for 1/3 Metamucil price. Anyway, hope you get better fast.

  8. You guys, let me know when you can hear your LCD TV turn on!😆 I can hear them too! I hear all manner of electronics when they are on. There is an alarm on my sump pump if the back up kicks on and my wife and kids can't hear it, but I can. I heard a power supply for a laptop start squealing a few days before it kicked the bucket. Nobody else did. I can also hear dog whistles (ok maybe not).
  9. I'll play again. Very nice of you to do again.
  10. I know I need to find a bathroom when I start Putin!

  11. It may only be 38 tomorrow if I can talk my wife into a third one!😁
  12. If only checking your local store then they might be sold out there. I am seeing 4 at my local store still. There are still a couple of stores with 6 or 8 in stock and numerous others with only 1 or 2.
  13. Not to mention a delicious process!
  14. Well, he's from Spain, so I don't think Google Translate worked very well. I think he wants a layout or plan for the cardboard or foam box insert for the CD. I don't have one but I think there was someone around here that did. Hmmm?
  15. I would buy a dedicated app music player for sure! Would be great to get masks of the old Video Music and VLM on there plus an updated one!
  16. What do you call an incorrect answer on a cows math quiz?

  17. Just in case you were wondering, food poisoning sucks.

I haven't had it this bad ever!  It's been since Tuesday night and I am still not 100%.  I have had it last a day or two tops and usually I am right back on my feet again.  The digestion part, dizziness and fever lasted a day and a half but my gut still hurts and I am mildly dizzy still.  That said, I've only had food poisoning two or three times in the past so I'll count myself lucky there.

Damn Joe!   I hope for a good recovery from here on out! At least it won't take months like a pneumonia I had.  You might try drinking some Gatorade.  Hydrating and electrolytes etc. can really be helpful.  Godspeed!

  21. Excellent work from all involved! Looking forward to this as the Jag needs a little more variety in its library. Now that I have a Skunk Board I'll be able to play the demo when it's released.
