I think you meant to message that to AtariSociety. Wolfy didn’t post the videos.

Seen it, but didn’t put two and two together.

These are two games I owned BITD, but never really put enough time into to figure out. I know I played a bunch of Tron, but rarely made it to the boss level even once, and I enjoyed the box of Vectron way more than the game itself.
Really looking forward to an excuse to finally learn both!!
Enjoy! I am sitting out these 2 games.

Pain?
Rick will take the lead...I am not participating in week 18. And that is fine with me.

Nope, we are doing one more...stay tuned...

Just now, BiffMan said:I missed by a pixel of getting it. Not sure I can be bothered to play as many games as it would take to get the 105 though. It's a remarkably frustrating 60 seconds.
Agreed! Might take a lifetime.

Just now, BiffMan said:Yeah, it gets pretty bad there, although it's the smart bombs that seem to give me the most fits. Spinners are good points... nom, nom, nom. 🙂
For me, the thing that really helped was adjusting my grip on the controller to where I could both fire and hit hyperspace. No longer have the time to move to it, and if you just hover on hyperspace, you're missing out on those critical extra shots.
Agreed, the smart bombs are horrible at that point too.
I tried to move my hands around but couldn’t find an alternative I liked, so I just stuck with my standard grip. Made it harder to press hyperspace, but ehhh, it is what it is. Enjoyed it.

First Astro entry:
553,160
The difficulty spike at 500k is insane!! It’s just raining spinners at that point. Biff, I have no idea how you got to 1 million and then eventually 2 million points! That is unbelievable! You must have magic reflexes. 😊
This is a great, classic game though. Simple concept done well.

I have about as much control of my skis as I do my little frogger in Auto Racing 😝 It's also a constant battle with my brain trying to convince my hands that the controls are not inverted. Practiced a little on an easier slope, but man, this is a game you seriously have to practice at on different slopes and speeds to get good at. Great job guys!
100.2 - disc, downhill slope 15
258.8 - disc, slalom slope 15
I am in the same boat as you. Can’t control this game at all. I’m horrible at it. And not feeling it whatsoever. Oh well.

Yeah modding is the way to go for compatibility with modern TVs.

Perfect!

33 minutes ago, Intelligentleman said:Ice Trek is pretty rad, imo. Also, HSC friends, my situation has changed. I've got a full time remote gig now, and that's why I haven't been posting any scores for Skiing or Astrosmash. I'm working down in the basement. That said, while I was clearing a space for my desk, i found an old 13-inch (i think) tube TV. It's small, but I bet it makes the INTY look better than the 24-inch LCD I have it on in my son's room now... 🤔
Nice...if you are still using RF connections, then yeah, an old CRT TV will work better in most cases.

Oh wow. Well that is pretty amazing. I wouldn’t be able to put that much time in it either. Very impressive dude!

7 minutes ago, BiffMan said:You need to use auto fire and still fire on top of that.
Ahhh I see. Didn’t know that actually.
-
Just now, popsicle said:Ow my goddamn thumb.
You didn’t use auto-fire?
-
1 hour ago, BiffMan said:Got my groove back. 🙂 I think it came down to rembering the game is all about hyperspace once it gets really fast, which for me is still above 750k. So I went full hyperspace and autofire, which was better but still having issues. I then shifted my grip so I have my thumb on hyperspace but my ring finger cradling the opposite side fire button and that did the trick.
Only barely gaining lives above 1 mil and my hands are trembling while writing this, but I did get +9 lives from 1mil to 1.1mil.
Not sure how long I'll stick with it, but I'll try to get 2 mil at least for Matt.
1,104,390 - Disc speed
There it is...knew you would get that mil ! Now on to 2 mil !!
Nice work Biff, you are the master.
