Yeah if I play this again here, I am just going to try to get past level 9 without farming and see how far I can get. It should be more fun to play it that way.

Right!! And that's why I brought up the point in the beginning of this thread as to how the scoring of this game should be done. The farming aspect of it takes a lot of the skill away from it. It should focus more on getting farther in the game, not just score. But people here seemed to have no issue with farming and wanted it to be scored that way. You even said this at first..."I think things should be left at highest points." So has your opinion changed now after playing the game for points? 🙂

Good question. I haven’t seen Bamse around here in awhile.

Just surprised you put that much time and effort into a game that you seem to hate, LOL. So what level did you get to anyway? Is that level 3, 6, or 9?

Yes it is definitely better. No doubt.

But it wasn't the disc that I had a problem with. It was the action buttons on the side. They were stiff, irritating, painful after an hour's play and way too small.
The disc was great if the game was designed with it in mind, like most of the in house intv games. The third parties though, were hit & miss.
Did you have an original Master Component or Intellivision II?

True. The disc shouldn’t cause any thumb issues. It’s the hard side buttons that do, especially with an Intellivision II.

Cant imagine farming .. you would just fall asleep.... lmao I got to level 5 with that score... your scored 40k more in 3 levels.. It must of took you an hour/s to get that score.. Too boring for me... But I can see the lure of this game for some.. Mystic Castle a vast improvement thats for sure..
Yes it takes awhile. But I like the fact that you can play this game longer than a lot of Intellivision games out there. I am just a fan of maze games like this in general. To each his own.

but that’s just for me.
Takes forever. Lmao 😂
It is methodical for sure. But I love the strategy of it, plus the graphics and sound are amazing for the system. I heard Mystic Castle is a big improvement on the pace of the game. I gotta play that game but don’t have a way to yet.

I personally like the controllers a lot. The disc was innovative and a pre-cursor to the D-pads we see today, and the keypad allowed for more complex and interesting games than other systems at the time. I never had a problem with hand cramps or any other issues that people have mentioned. Always liked them.

I wish this game rewarded the player with big points when levels were completed, that would make it even better.

Yep, all up to Jacob.

16 minutes ago, m-crew said:I still think it should be points or progression. Depending on game.
If farming can be an issue or not.
We we never really had an issue, most of us that play in the HSC are here for the fun of playing the games (with a competitive edge to it )
😜
Some integrity is involved as well.
Agreed, it's all for fun. A game like this though can be played for either points or progression...so there should be an element of both in the scoring. Just my opinion.

1 minute ago, m-crew said:I agree Jacob had good best intentions for sure. But unless there is equal amount of points achieved and available on every game. I think things should be left at highest points.
I would be good with that, BUT, in games that allow point farming like that you can have people doing it forever in the first level and never progressing through the game. I feel like there should be some progression, so I do think there needs to be a certain minimum progression set in order to "qualify" a score for the HSC. Just my thoughts.

54 minutes ago, mr_me said:You can rank results either by level reached or total points, that's up to the judge. Not sure if awarding bonus points is fair.
Jacob ranked both for Beauty and the Beast...points and highest level achieved. Am asking to see if he wants to do the same with this game as the situation is similar.
-
1 hour ago, m-crew said:I think the bonuses in Beauty and the beast have put things out of reach.
Its really not equal to all if some games have them and some games don’t.
Thats my opinion because you can rack up tons of points in some games and none in others. (Like in beauty and the beast)
Just my opinion.
I agree. It's tough when a game allows point farming. I think Jacob had the best intentions when trying to do award the "highest level achieved" in Beauty in the Beast rather than just points because they could be farmed forever. So maybe there should be something like that in this game too.
-
Jacob, this game can be "point farmed" like Beauty and the Beast was. Do you think we should have a "highest level reached" component to this one as well?

I can confirm this one,
Thin Ice
101,430 Ignorama
If I find where that Wisp score came from I will let you all know.
Jacob, it's in this thread from Season 3, game 10:

Intellivision HSC Season #11 - Game 6 - Thunder Castle
in Intellivision High Score Club
Posted · Edited by IntyFanMatt
Ok, yeah this one may not be a good choice for the HSC. But since it’s here now, lemme ask you...do you think we should go by score or distance? Basically is comes down to either a farming marathon or skill to go deep in the game that cannot be verified anyway. So maybe there is no good answer to that...
