  1. Okay, thanks. I'll shoot you a PM.
  2. Several are nice and will work well for you. SIO2SD SIO2PC SDrive-Max Ultimate Cart AVG Cart Side2 Cart I started with the SIO2SD (very nice), then got an Ultimate Cart, Side2 Cart and SDrive-Max. I mostly use the Ultimate Cart do to convenience. The Side2 Cart is great if you have the U1MB mod, and the AVG Cart is supposedly very nice but I don't own one. GL!
  3. Where can I buy an AVG cart?
  4. You can install TOS 1.04 with no problems. Exxos makes a 4MB MMU type ram upgrade that works very well. Between these two mods, you'll be able to connect a hard drive and run pretty much any software. Here's my 520ST with both of the above mentioned mods...
  5. Yes, if you aren't using any peroxide then the pieces need to be in direct sunlight. I've had very good results with light brightening.
  6. I have a Mean Well RD-50A in my Mega2 ST and it works like a champ. Very easy install.
  7. Sure. I'm assuming that the two wires are factory, but I could be wrong?
  8. Could be. I have multiple stock A8 machines, and none of them look like this.
  9. I bought a 130XE recently and while it works, it has the worst video output I've seen on an A8. Vertical bars of lighter and darker color across the entire screen. I'm attaching a couple of pics that show the problem. The motherboard is pristine, I don't believe that the machine has ever been messed with. The only socketed chips are the CPU and the ANTIC chips, and I have reseated them using deoxit. Anyone have any thoughts on what this might be? Are there any video clean-up options like Super Video for the 130XE? If I go with an aftermarket video solution, which one suits the 130XE best?I have machines with Sophia and UAV, but have never tried VBXE. Thanks!
  10. Thanks everyone. For now, I think I"m just going to leave it as it is.
  11. Bought one of the XEGS systems that myatari sells on eBay, and it arrived today. It's my 1st XE system. It's beautiful, in new condition, and I am digging it pretty well. I can install a Sophia DVI or RGB in it, right?
  12. So I can use a W27C512 in place of a W27C256? Both are 28 pin DIP chips.
  13. Other people have posted asbout this board in the past, you might ask Guitarman if he ever found any documentation:
  14. Thanks to everyone for their help with this. Received everything today, and it all worked the 1st time. I've burned a full set of 6 TOS 1.04 roms and have them installed and working in a 520ST with a US HD. Very cool! The chips I bought were TI TMS27C256. They were already programmed and had to be erased, but were in very good condition. I paid $12 for 10 eproms. Too much, or is that okay? I erased the chips for 12 minutes in the eprom eraser, is that a reasonable amount of time? That came from a youtube video that I'd watched. Using the xgpro software was fairly intuitive, or maybe I got lucky. I selected the chip type, then blank checked, programmed and verified each chip using the files I'd generated with romsplit.
  15. I hate to bring this back from the dead, but I just wanted to say thanks. I received a power board last week with both of the plastic rivets holding the fascia on broken off. This solves my problem, thank you!!
  16. Yes, I'm not installing it. It's just a curiosity. I have ordered a 4MB memory upgrade from Exxos though, will install it in my 520ST.
  17. Thanks, waiting on the TL866II and eproms to arrive.
  18. Okay, after reading through the other thread, I downloaded Peter's Romsplit program. There may have been an easier way to accomplish this, but here's what I did: 1. Got Romsplit and the 1.04 image file I wanted to split transferred to my ST HDD. 2. Split the image file into 6 files. 3. Copied the new rom files to a blank .st file loaded on my Gotek. 4. Using Steem, copied the split files out of the .st file onto my PC HD. I now have 6 32K files with the following file extensions: *.HI0, *.HI1, *.HI2, *.LO0, *.LO1, *.LO2 So, I could now burn these to 27C256/29C256 eproms using a TL866II and hopefully be good to go?
  19. Okay, this is interesting. I have different versions of TOS in *.img format. What format do they need to be in? My thanks to you and snarkdluG for helping me with this. I'm as ignorant about this as it is possible to be.
  20. Thanks for the reply! No, it isn't the Mega 2. I've already installed TOS 1.04 that I bought from B&C on eBay in the Mega 2. I'm looking at picking up another 520 ST, and I thought it would be a good time to learn how to burn my own ROMS instead of buying them from someone else. This being the case, it'll be a 6 chip set of 1.04. So a 2764 of some sort would be the correct prom? Is buying from eBay a good choice?
