I have the one on the upper right with the silver sticker for a 130XE I just bought today locally. The seller told me it was not a safe power supply and recommended to not use it. He recommended I order one from brewingacademy, which I have done. So, the Atari one I have (model C061982) is safe after all?

Looks really cool! How do you make it look like that in Altirra?

Thank you for the continued work on the best Atari emulator!

Thanks for the link. I may not really need one, but I still might buy one just for the smaller size alone. -
Best power supply to use with Atari 800?
TapperP replied to TapperP's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Ah, great to know. Maybe what I was reading was referencing other Atari AC adapters then. Thank you. Well, then never mind I guess. 😛 -
Nice! 🙂 I used to love my Atari light pen. In fact I ordered a new one the other day just to mess around with (it was pretty cheap on ebay).

So I recently got an Atari 800 and it came with the original power supply. It looks like the one in the photo below. I was just reading that old power supplies can kill the motherboard if they go bad, so what is a recommended new power supply I can buy for the Atari 800? If you have a store link that would be much appreciated. I really don't want anything bad to happen to this computer!

OH MY GOD that is GORGEOUS. I love Robotron and am in awe of that controller. Any chance you'd build more to sell?! 😛

Last week I bought an Atari 800 with CX40 joystick from hursto75, and all went well. Very helpful guy as well, I also highly recommend. Here is the Atari 800 & joystick I bought last week from him (it is very clean):

Disk Image Directories & Management Recommendation
TapperP replied to Big_Mo's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I just got an Sdrive-Max as well (in an 810 casing), and love it. I wish I had my old disks from back in the day, would be fun to put them on. But all that is lost to time. -
Wow, that sounds great. Thanks for the info.

Such great photos. Sadly I don't think I have a single picture of my good old Atari 800 from back in the day. 😕 I also had an 810, 410, Apeface modem, various controllers, and a big box of disks etc. All long gone into the ether. I haven't had an Atari computer for nearly 2 decades, but last week I did buy a very nice clean Atari 800 from an Atariage member, and am so happy to have one again. Here is my new little Atari shrine, including a NOS Star Raiders and CX40 joystick (and I LOVE my Atari 810 SDrive Max!):

Thank you both. 😁 What is a good flash cart device that I can use with an Atari 800?

Thank you.

Please help a newbie. I just got an Atari 800 48K last week, and haven't used any of this stuff in literally decades. I currently have an SDrive-Max device that runs atr and xex etc. Can I play Atariblast on my Atari 800? Would I also need to buy a flash cart to do so? Or is this game really only for higher RAM machines (I only have the 800 right now)? Thanks.

I bought an Atari 800 with 48K and a 1050 drive last week from a forum member. It is very nice and clean, but I'm noticing it will crash after a little while. For example I ran Joust (from disk) and let it run its demonstration, and after about 10 - 15 minutes the game will start corrupting onscreen, then just crash to blue screen. I re-seated the RAM and OS modules under the hood, but that has not fixed it. From my initial tests, it seems cartridge games don't crash, but games loaded from disks do. This made me think I may have a bad RAM board. I found a RAM test program (https://www.atariarchives.org/c2ba/page015.php) and am using that now to test RAM. It's very, very slow though. The memory test program is finding errors, but they always say the same thing: "ERROR at 37120 EXP = 106 ACT = 106" I'm not completely sure how this test program works, but it is now around 400 passes. I have gotten that same error 4 times so far. Can someone help interpret these results and figure out which RAM module(s) may need to be replaced? PHOTOS: the first one is the first time I got the error, the second is the 6th time. I'm not sure when this program will be done, but it has been running for hours now...

Did some Atari 800's not have RAM carts inside?
TapperP replied to TapperP's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Great info, thank you both. -
I've seen photos of Atari 800 with RAM carts inside like this: And also photos with just bare boards, not carts, like this: Did later production runs of the 800 not have the RAM carts? Would appreciate any info about this. Thanks.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately there is no way to see in person, but the seller is providing photos and possibly video. Asking price is $175, and it is in nice clean condition, but no box or such. -

I might be interested in picking up an 800XL to go along with the 800 (pls let me know about the keyboard). Depends on condition. -

Hey everyone. I used to own an Atari 800 (original, not XL/XE) many years ago and miss it a lot. I'm now considering buying a used one from someone here. What would be a fair price for one in good condition? Also, are there any important questions I should ask before buying? -
I'm interested in buying an Atari 800 computer. I used to own one many years ago and lost it after a series of moves. Nostalgia hitting hard as a I get older... 🐵 Please let me know what you have available.

Hey all, I'm an old Atari fan since the 70's. Sadly my Atari 800 disappeared long ago after a series of moves, and as I get older I find myself missing it a great deal. I do still have a few cartridge games for it. Interested in buying an Atari 800 in excellent condition. Must be fully working, and include AC adapter and preferably video cables as well. Box and any original materials would be a nice bonus but not a necessity. Would also be nice to have some original Atari joystick/paddle controllers in good shape. Condition means a lot to me, so the cleaner the better. Please let me know if anyone has such a computer to sell. I'm in USA. Thanks.
