  1. The 2021 delay has not been confirmed officially, it's just a webpage that was later taken down.
  2. I just checked their channel and found an explanation: apparently, 4 or 5 years ago they were hitting it big time with Just Dance Kids! gameplay videos. About 30 of those reached 1-2M views and other 30 200-500K. For some reason, they stopped doing those videos and for the last 2 years none of their videos reaches 500 views.
  3. Here's a couple of "countdown songs" I wanna share with you guys: 1) The first one is not very well known but it's amazing: Toto - Big Battle (Dune OST). No wonder Faith No More played a recording of the song before appearing on stage on several concerts in 1992. 2) The second one is much more famous, but it always works: Jerry Goldsmith - End Credits (Total Recall OST). This song got very popular in Spain when one channel decided to use it before soccer matches as the intro song, while they showed panoramic shots of the stadium. If Tommy uses one of these songs with a pitch black screen before starting the event, it won't matter if he only shows a fishing game and a train simulator: the hype will be in our minds for years.
  4. Hey @Starpaddler... I know your image has a kayak boat, but every time I look at it I think about Panzer Dragoon or Wipeout.
  5. SpaceVenture, the graphic adventure that the creators of Space Quest have been developing for 8 years, has just released its beta version. Unlike the Space Quests, starring a handsome cleaner, the protagonist is a mechanic with a beer gut carrying a robotic dog. It's 3D and third person and all dialogues are voiced. Judging by the 7-minute video of the first scene of the Beta, the game seems to have good dialogues, interface and puzzles. Among the reasons for the delay, the programmers mention that both designers lost their mothers during these 8 years and Scott Murphy had to overcome prostate cancer and the corresponding bill of $30,000 for the operation. During all these years, some of the backers were not too happy with the decision of some of the people worknig on the project: Chris Pope deleted all his social networks and Scott Murphy, after leaving the project, was very active on Twitter talking about politics . Also, the backers have been complaining for years about the multiple delays in the general comments on the project on Kickstarter to the point that they have created a small online community with their own off-topic discussions: according to one comment, the release date was announced for 2013, for 2015, for 2016, for 2018 and for 2019. In fact, the game's latest release date, announced a few months ago, was June 2020.
  6. Okay, I think I finally understood why the second video has double the views compared to the first one: Intellivision Entertainment sent an email to announce the second video, but they didn't do that with part 1.
  7. Wow! I wasn't expecting that. I actually liked the first one much more, but I have the feeling the second one brings much more nostalgia for some American TV shows... I really can't think of another explanation. The second video is 50 seconds shorter, and, interestingly, has a like/dislike ratio closer to 10 Vs. 1 when the first one is almost 20 Vs. 1. The official channel has only 25 videos, but the second video has quickly jumped to the top 5 most viewed in only 3 days. The second one has also done quite well: it just reached 14K views in less than 2 weeks and it looks like it will soon be among the top 10. I hope the first video gets more views through Youtube suggestions with the help of the second one, because it deserves it. It shows more of the controller and it's just more crazy. I'm cheering for video #1.
  8. @GrudgeQ I think it was Relicgamer the one who criticized that he bought other apparently useless things. I didn't mention that because it's clear form the start that the Amico is not for him: not looking for family games, not looking for Intellivision classics and he even hates the woodgrain "color". My point was that I don't think he liked the console that much, which, of course, is fine. I respect his tastes, but the reasons he gave for cancelling the console were there when he preordered, nothing changed. It's like I order an HD TV and then cancel it and then make a Youtube video about it saying how much I hate modern games... What's the point? ; )
  9. I watched the first minutes of the video you mention and it feels like he was never interested on it to begin with. The reasons he gives is that he doesn't like the woodgrain design (!), he didn't grow up with Intellivision (!) and Tommy showing 2 games that are available for mobile on the trailer. Reasons 1 and 2 were already there when he preordered and reason 3 one is not very solid, as the mobile games are only 2 games among dozens and even then, they will have lots of unique features and offline multiplayer options. It's like selling all your retro consoles because they have a special port of Doom with unique levels because it's the "same game" as in other plaforms. Also, the way he talks about mobile assuming everything is bad in that platform is pretty biased. This has given me an idea for a question, by the way. Hey @Tommy Tallarico, what's the percentage of people who have cancelled the Founder Edition or VIP Edition of the console and asked for the $100 refund?
  10. A couple of not-so-offtopics while Tommy finishes preparing the event (4 days to go!): - Update from the TLoU2 thread in one of the biggest forums in Spain: over the last 4 pages, 99% of the messages talk about the story and only 1% talk about the gameplay (some guy was complaining that there were too many options to improve weapons and stuff and that's not even necessary in the game). It's the same situation 1 month later, nothing has changed. (As usual, no Sony fans will come here and complain because we're "bashing Sony"... that will never change either). - Thanks to whoever mentioned The Toys that Made Us. I watched the whole Masters of the Universe episode and I think I will now watch the 3 seasons.
  11. He could also ask "hey Tommy, I suspect all your employees, including J Allard, are volunteers... Why? Because I was a volunteer on Video Games Live, and that raised my suspicions. If I was a volunteer, it means Video Games Live didn't have any employees and everyone was a volunteer too. I always thought I had a Sherlock Holmes in me, you know?". But I'm not sure if he will.
  12. When Tommy shows the console booting up, it's gonna be Game Over for lots of folks... and some of them are in this forum. Quote from the Taco thread, yesterday: It's going to be really hard for those people when the system comes out and the only thing they can say to keep their insults going is that it "only" has sold 500K units instead of 10M.
  13. Hey @CurlyQ, a suggestion: a photoshopped Craig (the creature from the Halo Infinite memes) with an Amico, and maybe some Phil and Master Chief hanging around.
  14. One of the few next gen games that offered new gameplay elements was The Medium (PS5 ans XSX). A new trailer appeared a few days ago and the game looks cool.
  15. Questions for Tommy: 1) You recently said you need 50K units to reach the "sustainability" point and 180K to "break even". Could you explain the differences between the two? 2) When you said you were "half way there" in regards to the 180K, does it mean 90K people have already preordered the console?
  16. Games from the USA are a huge deal, but from the UK and other non-Japan countries we have... - UK: > Lots of 8 bit classics: Saboteur 1 and 2, Matchday 2, Skool Daze, Manic Miner, Head over Heels, Elite... > A few 16 bit classics: Donkey Kong Country, Speedball 2, Xenon 2, Cannon Fodder, Lemmings... > Lots of 32/64 bit classics: Tomb Raider, Goldeneye, Wipeout 2097, Destruction Derby 2, GTA 2, Colin McRae, Medievil... - France: > Lots of 16 bit graphic adventures: Goblins and Inca series, Lost in Time, Ween, Fascination, Future Wars, Eternam... > Other 16 bit classics: Another World, the Alone in the Dark series... - Canada: > Everything by Electronic Arts, including 8 bit classics such as Archon or Kings of the Beach, the Need for Speed series and all sports games.
  17. After playing through "There Is No Game", by the French developers Draw Me a Pixel, and seeing the trailer for the graphic adventure "There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension" that they just released... ...I think, at this point, Atari would be more successful taking that path and renaming the system There Is No Console: a device where you can discover secret minigames by interacting with glitches while Atari CEO's voice yells at you "what are you doing, Atari fan? Don't touch that! This is not a console!".
  18. For some reason, the new topic didn't appear from the main menu, so I decided to create this message to make it visible (it worked).
  19. I will vote against Japan here because of all the classic graphic adventures, all the 90s FPS, some great English and American games for the 8 bit computers, the GTA games and platform games such as Abe's Oddysee, Another World, Spyro or Tomb Raider. Also, the second generation of consoles was 100% American it was hugely influential. I played a lot of Japanese games with my Game Boy, PS1 and PS2 and I think Japanese programmers create the best soccer, fighting, survival horror, espionage and party games, as well as some of the best platformers and unique games such as Ico or Katamari Damacy, so it was a close call.
  20. By completely deleting a message (or a few of them), somebody reading the topic a few days after the incident may get the wrong impression. This has happened recently in a famous topic: many messages with personal attacks were removed, so people who came later thought that some users were paranoid about some mysterious "haters" that almost never appeared in the topic. The reality, as revealed by the mods, is that the topic was actually about 30 pages longer including the deleted messages. I think the best approach would be to leave the page structure intact but replacing the moderated message with "This message has broken the forum's rules and therefore has been deleted."
  21. Very cool! I don't think your partner is convinced. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about our August 4th Special Event. Thank you for helping us spread the word! I watched your debate with the guy who wasn't convinced and... well, I'm sorry if it sounds rude, but your friend was here a perfect example of how people debate not to find the truth, but to justify their preconceived ideas. Don't get me wrong, the guy seemed nice and all, but I felt it was impossible to remove the "Nintendo is already doing that" idea from his head. Even when you mentioned the huge number of mobile players Vs. the people who bought the Switch, he kept repeating how "everyone loves Nintendo". Of course, it would really have helped for you to let him know that 1) The Amico only needs to sell about 200K to break even 2) The console, unlike Switch, will not allow violent or sexual content at all 3) Switch players are officially considered hardcore, so the Amico is not really competing with them either The "I think it's a great idea but I don't think it's going to succeed" he says at the end is an opinion based on a few details that he just discovered about a product introduced to a market that he wasn't even aware it existed. Maybe I shouldn't get so deep with this, but sadly the world is becoming a worse place to live because of precisely this attitude: people refuse to think. If only people were wise enough to understand that, in most cases, they just don't know enough about something.
  22. I've never been a Halo or Xbox fan and I find the new Halo memes hilarious (1, 2, 3), but at the same time I feel out of place when even Xbox fans are nitpicking on Halo Infinite's graphics. I feel like I'm in an alternative reality when people look at some HD 3D environments that look pretty much realistic and have no fog or popping and complain that "the light is not reflecting as it should" or "the expression on the face is not human enough". But then again, I'm still impressed with the first Dreamcast games that were shown, so I'm not exactly an expert in this field.
  23. Hey @Cafeman and @Punisher5.0... You're both excited for the PS5, but the poll stills shows only 1 vote for that option (which was there before your comments). So... vote! The unimpressed option is winning by far more votes than expected and the other options need help. 👍
