Interesting. In the Navy, we use 999 as the code to say "WE NEED IT DELIVERED NOW!!!" Which is also appropriate in this situation.
If you tell that to a German, there's a high chance that person will stop instead of hurry.

By the way, did Lukas finally contact Tommy for an interview on Twitter? I am curious to see how that ends.

I initially thought the Game Gear Micro was $250, but it looks like it's just the price some people are reselling the console for folks outside of Japan in Amazon.
If people are paying such an amount of money for that tiny thing, it shows you how great the value of the Amico is for its price compared to many other entertainment products.

Hey guys, I've been reading this awesome Atari Age topic for a few days and I figured out I could share it with the people on this thread:
The Jaguar is FAR from the best console..
Don't be misguided by the title: I'm learning a lot of cool stuff about the Jaguar and the 5th gen consoles. For example, I learned that the guys who made Rollcage are the same team that created the infamous Cybermorph for the Jaguar. I also learned that people are actually paying hundreds of dollars to get rid of the N64 anti aliasing in 2020.
The general consensus is that the old times where each console had different architectures and games were better times. I hope the Amico can bring back some of that glory!

Hey guys, I just opened a pretty cool topic for these times of chaos:

What the title says. Nintendo was the first, but other video game companies could follow.
I think a Sega Theme Park would work pretty well: Sonic rollercoasters, beautiful Chinese-themed zones based on Shenmue...
A Playstation Theme Park could include some Tomb Raider or Crash Bandicoot crazy attractions, as well as some The Last of Us or Death Stranding modern ones with more scary-looking stuff going on.
An Xbox Theme Park could have attractions based on Halo, Gears of War, Sunset Overdrive, Forza... I have never owned an Xbox, so I can't really say much.
An Atari Theme Park could have tons of attractions based on classic Atari games such as Pong.
An Intellivision Theme Park could have cool attractions based on Night Stalker, some Escape Room based on Safecracker, perhaps something with Shark! Shark!...
What do you think? Does this concept have potential?

There isn't a single movie reviewer or critic on the planet I trust. Not a single one. I don't even trust the "average" Rotten Tomato scores from users or critics. Critics will tear Amico part no matter how the options screens are set up. But the folks we do want to care... our target audience... will marvel at the ease of use... not the complexity
I agree right now they dont matter, I disagree that they wont matter once this comes out. Amazon ratings for instance matters a lot. I think the " is it cool in school" is gonna be the biggest hurdle you have for the millenial parent market. No parent will buy this if the "kids" even in grade school dont think its cool Tough hurdle.
Hell I remember as early as 2nd grade, if my mom tried to buy me " toughskins" jeans..... hell now,, cant be seen in those. Levi or Lees back in the day LOL and its only gotten worse, kids have their parents so tied around their fingers in embarrassing.
When I was about 14-16 years old, my mom genuinely bought a light pink sweater for me. When I gently refused to even wear it once, she argued that the sweater was not pink: she said it was "salmon".
How very little she knew that healthy, wild salmon meat is actually dark pink, and light pink salmon meat means the fish comes from salmon farming.
Back to the Amico, one cool thing for the Intellivision Theme Park would be a Safecracker Escape Room.

Hey guys, maybe the Sega announcement is a theme park to leverage Sonic's popularity and relaunch the brand.
By the way, here's a question for Tommy and anyone reading this:
- What kind of attractions would you build in a potential Intellivision Theme Park?

I just clicked on the comments section of the Sony cancellation on a Spanish forum and had to close the tab after reading a few words. It was:
- Conservartives Vs Progressives
- Sony fans Vs Xbox fans
You only needed a bit of Marvel Vs DC and some Real Madrid Vs Barcelona / insert American team rivalry to make it the perfect storm.
In retrospective, I suspect Tommy would have preferred to launch the machine in either 2019 or 2021. I hope at least people get tired of all this drama and isolation and start looking at the Amico as a cool toy with happy-looking visuals that you can enjoy with friends.

The last "on the fence" guy was a "put the freaking lotion on the basket" type (1, 2). Let's see how this one turns out, it will be interesting... He seems promising!

That kid will probably be a famous youtuber. We probably were like 10x more retarded at his age.
Just a couple of observations:
- Judging by the way he talks and his preference for retro systems (which probably came from this dad), it's very possible that his dad is doing the script for his videos.
- He made a similar video about the 3DO, Jaguar, Amiga CD and other failed 32-bit consoles. He naturally has placed the Amico in the same category and that's normal, I also thought the same when I discovered the console.
Of course, the comments section is already full of the regulars, including a new one with a nickname that's Tommy Tallarico spelled backwards (I think that alone kind of proves which side is where the maniacs are).
Back to the kid, I wish all kids were lucky enough to play retro systems like him, even if he still has to learn to respect every system.

About the Sega announcement:
- It will be revealed in 3 days in Famitsu.
- A Japanese guy who has the magazine can't speak for legal reasons but says the news is not about Microsoft, is strictly Sega.

Speaking about the Wii U and about game testing:
- I have the feeling that many major console manufacturers have, at least once, committed the mistake of introducing one particular gimmick in a controller that clearly wasn't working just for the sake of being innovative and "moving to the next generation of control systems".
- The Wii U, the Switch joycons, the analog buttons on PS2 and the numeric pad on the Jaguar come to mind. Yes, the PS2 and the Switch were a huge success, but not because of those gimmicks.
- @Tommy Tallarico Do you think these mistakes could have been avoided by good testing or do you think those companies didn't really care and only wanted to have something special?

According to the last rumors, Sega's announcement will NOT be a game: it will be related to a new platform (perhaps not physical, perhaps not home-based).

I don't know what officially makes a system retro: all I know is that I could never, ever call a 3D game without pixelation or heavily blurred textures "retro". My mind refuses to consider Sonic Adventure, Half Life or Metal Gear Solid 2 "retro".

I think Sega is going to announce that they have created a 2020 version of "Game over, yeah!": "Don't touch me, yeah!".
Nah, seriously: probably it will only be the Dreamcast 2, Shenmue 4 and the Saturn mini.

Question for Tommy:
- Will the European and American versions of the Amico have exactly the same power connectors? I mean, will both versions be physically the same except for the cable and some stickers, etc.? Will European VIP/FE buyers be able to find a regular power cable in their shops to replace the American one?

Yeah, perhaps the Medal of Honor control method was better than I remember, but it still didn't have 4 player modes in PS1. I finished the first one. I never understood why Quake 2 didn't have this control option on PS1, it forced you to walk using the buttons.
Still, what I meant was that I looking up and down is overrated in FPS and I prefer fast 4 player action on a single console. Dual analog control isn't bad, but many prefer mouse and keyboard for a reason.

About Unreal:
- It's interesting how some 128 bit games will never feel outdated to me because the graphics got me so hyped at the time: Unreal/Halflife/Quake 3 on the PC, MGS2 on the PS2, Sonic Adventure/VF3 on the Dreamcast, Sega Rally on the arcades...
About violence in games:
- Am I the only one who thinks blood/gore/dead bodies never feel offensive in a game when they are pixelated? 8 bits, 16 bits, 32 bits. I mean, Silent Hill gave me nightmares (don't play the game just before bed, kids) when I was 19, but those pixelated things were not too disgusting. It's something interesting I just discovered.

The PS1 and N64 needed some 4 player split screen Doom/Doom 2/Wolfenstein 3D:
- No control issues as you can't look up and down
- Better music, enemies, weapons, stages?
- Potentially no frame rate issues in split screen since the whole games are in "fake" 3D
Quake 2 has control issues on consoles, Medal of Honor only has a 2 player mode. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark had the 4 player options, but the controller and frame rate didn't help.
The N64 conversion of Hexen was the example that should have been followed, it's a shame.

Now that Tommy mentioned Westworld...
- Has anyone here watched the old Westworld movie?
- Does everyone agree that the movie was almost as good as the first season of the series?
- Why there aren't any Westworld video games?
- How could the series directors destroy what they had created in the first two seasons with such a disappointing third season, where the classic science fiction theme is abandoned for a predictable espionage theme?
- Am I the only one who believes that the series need more silence? The music is good, but it never stops. I also hate the Paint it Black/Black Hole Sun/etc. violin covers.

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
in Intellivision Amico
Posted
Hey Tommy, here's (another) crazy idea: repeat the interview with Lukas but this time you ask the questions and the kid answers.
You could ask him lots of questions about how did he get into retro gaming, favorite games for each retro console, comparing retro vs modern games...
You could also ask him about his opinion on each and every single feature of both the original Intellivision and the Amico.
I think that video would be really cool. 🤓
