There's already a 1985-90 game about that for the Amstrad CPC. I can't find it now, it's not Glider Rider. Give me a few seconds/minutes/hours/years and I will find it for you. Edit: Done! It's a 1991 French game called Paragliding Simulation/Paraplane (it has two names!). It's paragliding, but hey! You can see hang gliders passing close to you. It's a decent game, apparently. Edit 2: Here's some gameplay of the game. It looks a bit too simple, but the idea and graphics were good.

Tommy may come up as too passionate for some. Some may also argue that he talks too much. A few believe that he should never say negative things about other systems, especially the ones created by one particular Japanese company. But in the end, what we're seeing is an hyperactive, creative person who is about to release a product for a very specific kind of market and, before starting with actual promotion, he has managed not only to get thousands of people from other markets interested, but also have them preorder the machine. Some people on the ReviewTechUSA comments keep repeating that mobile games already do this, but you only need to take a closer look to the Amico to realize that you're playing in a big screen, you're playing with 3-7 people, you're playing with a special controller and you're playing games that anyone in your family can understand and enjoy. The fact that this game device, aimed mostly to non gamers, also includes classic games for a niche market like us, is something we should be thankful for. The like/dislike ratio of the ReviewTechUSA interview is 10/1 and this doesn't quite reflect in the comments section, which makes me believe that that this video has ruffled a few feathers. The numbers speak for themselves: you don't need to be in love with Tommy to be interested in the Amico. We've even seen some very critical hardcore gamers complaining about the price of the console recognize that they preordered the machine. Tommy is doing a great job at generating a lot of news and debates about its product, and at this point I think it is safe to assume that, even if it wasn't intended by any of the parts involved, the Pat & Ian controversy has actually helped promote the console. So, as a wise man said once,

He mostly likes Sega, but he has covered Nintendo and Turbografx too. He has covered retro stuff on the Switch too, arcade machines... When the Amico is out, there is a high chance he will review the thing when it has some reimagined 8 bit/16 bit classics. He has never done an interview, but I used him as an example of how sometimes hard work pays off, even in Youtube. He doesn't need to do click baits to get 50K views.

Hey Tommy, here's an idea for you. I believe you said that you've never even tried drinking alcoholic drinks and, of course, gotten drunk. I think many people will agree with me that it's something you must try at least once before you die. So here's the deal: When/if the Amico sells its first million, drink 2 or 10 beers to celebrate it. Premium quality beers, of course. And not too close to a meal so you don't mess with digestion (those are tricks many of us have learned over the years). 🤓

While some controversial youtubers have serious view count problems, others achieve a much deserved increase: Sega Lord X videos are now getting 50K views. I'm so happy for him. These are the kind of people that Youtube needs, hardworking and positive people that care about the things they talk about, in this case video games. I hope he keeps growing.

I confess I'm finding haters more fun to read/listen every time, it's getting interesting watching them lie and get nervous as this thing gets bigger. Do you think these guys are mostly conservative/liberals convinced the Amico is the opposite and must be discredited (i. e. family friendly could be seen as both "too conservative" by some and as "too politically correct/liberal" by others) or is it simply a tribal "my favorite company already does this so fuck you" thing?

I also love his posts and I don't think he should change them in any way... Simply adding a final "TL;DR" line with the conclusions of the whole message. This way, the long posts would be even more interesting even if you don't feel like reading them, it can work like a subtle invitation to read the 40 lines. 🍸

Hey @RetroAdvisoryBoard, here's a suggestion that could be fun and interesting, both for you and every fan (and even some detractors!) of your messages: you could add a final line that sums up your whole message. As a translator, I know summarizing texts can sometimes be challenging and fun and, in your case it could be really cool, it could give your messages a final seal of quality. 🤏👌🖖

Kojima has some trauma since he was a child, his parents left him alone in the house many hours a day and he ended up watching dozens of movies. One of the movies was Escape from New York and I have a hunch it influenced some of his games. The themes explored in the Death Stranding story stem probably from his childhood too, but sadly he "forgot" to add good dialogs or characters that made any sense this time. I haven't played it, but judging by the gameplay I watched I suspect it would have been much better if it worked like a Fumito Ueda game, with barely any dialogs and the players kind of creating their own fantasy world in their heads. 😐🤘 Perhaps he just needs to understand his own limitations as a creator. I still can't believe that MG2 was released in 1990 for the MSX2, it has many of the stuff that made MGS great in 1998.

Just Got a ZX Spectrum, and I have questions
IntelliMission replied to DistantStar001's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
It appears some people abused the score system (now closed for this reason) and a few shitty games appear on the list when you sort by score. Sadly, the advanced search only allows to filter games with 5 or more votes, because 100 or more votes would have solved the problem. Fortunately, I found a workaround for this, even if it's not perfect: adding the filter "release country: Spain", none of these "fake masterepieces" appear anymore, because you mostly see titles that were released both in the UK and in Spain and none of them are minor. -

Here's a nice advanced search from World of Spectrum: I have selected all games with a user score of 8 or higher that didn't appear for the C64. The list includes two classic Spanish games, Sir Fred and La abadía del crimen, as well as some isometric classics such as Batman or Where Time Stood Still. -
Not bad! According to this, there are around 700 Conan comic books since 1970. I should give it a try some day, I liked Roy Thomas in Infinity Inc. as a kid. In other news, our favorite Podcast has unlocked a new achievement: to answer the question "Will Another Major Game Console Be Released NOT from Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft" without even saying the word "Amico" (mentioned only once as "the new Intellivision console") and with a picture of the Ouya in the background. Of course, their answer is no, because the Ouya was $100 and still failed. At this point, I think they have realized they're creating a Streisand effect and, since this is personal now, the best way to help the Amico fail is not giving it free promotion in their podcast.

I know there are many comic book fans here, so here's a question: has any of you tried to read ALL the issues from a particular comic book hero? I have digital versions of all Superman comic books. Since he's my favorite hero from the major ones (because of the sci fi nature of his story), I'm sometimes tempted to read Action Comics #1 and go on with #2,#3... I'm sure we would discover a few interesting cultural things along the way (and perhaps read a few good stories too). Of course, this would be easier for a Spiderman fan like Tommy, as he was created in the early 60s.

I recommend getting the +3 model instead, with a proper keyboard and able to play both 3 inch floppies and cassettes. Then, I would get the HxC floppy emulator and use an SD card to load hundreds of games: http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/ As for the games, try Saboteur, Matchday 2 and Head over Heels. -
First the weird imaginary friend patent and then the ultra violence on the PS5 trailer. Not one, but two negative things about Sony in the last pages (and I was the one who brought the patent up!). Based on what happened with other Japanese company, I guess 2 or 3 users will soon come here to let us know that "we can't bash Sony to defend the Amico". It's just a matter of time. Let's just wait a bit more and...
