Climber 5 Label Contest - Winner Selected!
krisjohn replied to Albert's topic in AtariAge Sponsored Contests
Where do you think I got the cork from? When I say I can't draw I mean at all. I do photography stuff and some CGI, but I can't draw. That said, I found a bunch of baseballs in a "Dog Balls" bin at the swapmeet this morning, so I have a couple if I can workout how to stage them. -
Climber 5 Label Contest - Winner Selected!

Hang on, let me check. Nope, still can't draw You know, I haven't even been able to find a baseball to use as a prop -- the game's barely played here at all. -
Selling my collection on-line to make room

Most are PAL. Some are NTSC. One multicart has some of each -
Selling my collection on-line to make room
krisjohn replied to krisjohn's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Thanks. It's great fun finding and acquiring new projects such as these. I've got Thrust+ #2, Combat II and (when they arrive) the three new AA 2600 releases to add to the page too. -
Selling my collection on-line to make room
krisjohn replied to krisjohn's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Quick addition. I don't have a PayPal account, and I really don't want one. I know this will cause some international buyers problems, but I can accept Western Union Money Orders (add US$4) and US$ cash if you're willing to post it. Anyone got any other payment option suggestions? -
Okay, here's the thing. I've got too much video game stuff by about three large storage boxes or more. See, I enjoy finding stuff way too much Over the next however long it takes I'm going to be building a page with photos of everything in my collection, with a price I'm willing to sell it at. I'll be taking and posting shots of everything, so a few items aren't for sale unless you want to offer a seriously stupid price. I've processed about 60 images today. I filled a 32MB flash RAM card with photos last night. This leaves another 120 or so items that need processing, with probably another 600-800 that need photographing. I'm hoping to test stuff and add more info as I go along. Also, any future stuff I buy I'm intending to photograph and post details straight away. The page is at http://krisjohn.atari.org/stuff.html The prices will be based on a bunch of things, but mostly on eBay and my aging copy of JerryG's Price Guide. If you've got a nice example of why I'm kidding myself with any given price, feel free to post a URL and mock me. If you're interested in buying anything, PM me on this forum. Sorry, I'm not after trades. I welcome all comments.

I've only done a couple of trades that I have any record of: DeV0 oesii Both went perfectly.

WTB or Trade for Atari 2600 Rarity 7,8,9 and 10 games
krisjohn replied to robsbucs's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I've just started working my list. Most of the stuff I have is of unknown rarity. If you're interested in anything, send me a PM on this board. I'd rather sell, but I'm still working on prices. http://krisjohn.atari.org/stuff.html -
It's a shame that eBay and PayPal really are the only game in town. I think I might spend more time in AA's Marketplace forum... Thanks everyone.

I'm starting a list at http://krisjohn.atari.org/stuff.html -- Very raw at the moment. I have a price guide that I'll work from when I can't find any sign of the carts on eBay, or in AA's marketplace forum. All comments welcome.

Cool, thanks for the compo! I've PMed my details and choice. Thanks again, CJ.

Answer attached.

I guess that's the first step isn't it. Oh, well, I found the charger for my digital camera a week ago, so I might start putting together an inventory. I don't have many rares though, at least I don't think so.

eBay's regular fees increases and features decreases, plus all the loser who bid on your stuff then never reply. Paypay's amazingly excessive "International Transaction" fees, even when both accounts are in US$.

I walked away from eBay and PayPal over a year ago, but I'm running out of storage space and need to seriously consider a way of selling some of my duplicates and stuff. Is there a serious competitor to eBay yet? Yahoo auctions was pretty crap a year or so ago, and they've pulled some stupid privacy crap with Yahoo accounts too, so I don't have one of those anymore either. It'd be cool if the AtariAge store had a secondhand feature like Amazon, but that's undoubtedly a lot of work for the AA team, with questionable return. Short of bunging photos on a personal website with a bunch of high prices, are there any new, decent, ways of selling stuff on the Internet? And any competitors to PayPal?

How long have you gone without buying on ebay?
krisjohn replied to video game addict's topic in Auction Central
I stopped dealing with eBay over a year ago, thought I was mostly a seller. I've been getting more than enough stuff from weekend swap-meets to satisfy me. In fact, I'm running out of room and I have to consider a way to start selling stuff again... -
Anyone heard of Starmaster international edition?
krisjohn replied to Mental_Man's topic in Atari 2600
I have one, black label. Not sure if it's PAL (don't have the 2600 hooked up to the "right" TV to notice). I picked it up at auction I think, when I knew I'd won Dave Rolfe's Starmaster Jacket from GoodDealGames. -
Hi all, As a kind of service to the retro community I was thinking of making some of my spare Atari consoles available for sale. I don't have time for eBay, so I was wondering if anyone has a good feel for the going rate of various Atari decks and similarly aged console prices. From memory I currently have the following spares: 2600 6-switch 2600 vader 2600 Jr 7800 XEGS Colecovision Some are boxed, though the boxes are in varying conditions. This isn't an attempt to sell them through this forum. I don't need the money, but I do need the space. BTW: I'm in Australia and these are all PAL/240V units (with Australian power cables). So, any ideas?

Can't wait for them to arrive! Meanwhile, you know what would be cool? If the AtariAge store actually sold Atari 2600s. I've just posted a quick article about these releases on a blog-thing I submit stuff to and I was thinking that the general public probably don't still have a 2600, even though many of them may remember it fondly. If for no reason other than street cred, it's be great to see a limited number of Atari 2600s for sale at the AA store. I don't know about other people, but I have a few spare 2600s that I bought because the seller wouldn't separate them from the games. If postage weren't so expensive I'd be happy to send them to AA for store credit... What do people think the current going rate is for a working Atari 2600? 2600jr?

I have replied. Looks like a good workaround. I hope you can process my card...
-
How do I do this without becoming a PayPal member? I ask because in light text on a white background it has such fine print as: I don't want to become a PayPal member, I just want to buy a product from the AtariAge store using a credit card...
-
I'd be interested in the $100 pack, but I closed my PayPal account and now it doesn't seem interested in non-US billing information (its hostility to non-US customers was the reason I gave it up). Without the correct information it will not be allowed to charge the card. International Money Orders cost a fortune. Is there any other way to pay by credit card?

I think it's this one: Forum: Off-Topic Posted: 16 Jun 2003 06:44 Subject: what is the perfect arcade So, who won?

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
krisjohn replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Boxed PAL Atari 7800, plus 2x 7800 games (Donkey Kong and Pole Position II, both with instructions), 6x common 2600 games and HES' Super Action Pack (Pitfall, Grand Prix, Laser Blast, Barnstorming) -- the last item is boxed in a HES case designed for a NES cart, even though the slick clearly says 2600. A$15.
