As far as I can tell, there is a somewhat unusual filesystem on the diskette. I spent hours trying to find a way to get that thing to properly duplicate. I suspect it was created using a kryoflux or something. You might need to get one of those yourself to reproduce the "master" diskette. (the second disk is a raw data image. If mangled with something like HxC into the appropriate datastream format for a kryoflux, then written back on a real diskette, it would probably work.)

Well.. Further adventures: I found a raw disk image (400k) that boots mini vmac and plays. Good luck on writing it with anything though. Flight_Simulato102.dsk

Integration Thread (Hardware & Software Playing Nice Together)
wierd_w replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
CueCat needs a little attitude adjustment, because the creator wanted the things to only work with their software. However, said adjustment is simple. You just need to run +5v from one of the listed pins, and run it to the listed thru-hole. Bob's your uncle. After doing that, the cuecat spits out unencoded barcodes. source: http://www.cexx.org/cuecat.htm#decode with this supplied image for sources of +5v, and the destination thruhole cited. Possibly with this errata, if you have a newer board. http://www.cexx.org/ccupd.htm -
As promised-- Here is a raw HFV diskette image, containing a diskcopy compressed 1.44mb image (and a suitable copy of diskcopy, just in case). Copy them to the external scsi disk, then use diskcopy to regenerate the image onto a real diskette. Hopefully it will be bootable. (The original was a 400k diskette image, and I converted it. If you need the 400k diskette image version, let me know.) msflightsim.dsk

Okiedoo. I am at work at the moment. It will be sometime in the early morning tomorrow when I get off work. I will process it then.

If you have diskcopy on that thing, I can make an image containing a diskcopy image file. (That is what was inside the .sit at mac garden). Then you could use your real mac to generate the disk using diskcopy.

Making the contents bootable (since it does not want to boot my emulator) is an exercise for the recipient-- But here is a raw 1.44mb hfv image containing the data from the .sit on macintosh garden. The game asserts that it needs to be booted to run. msflightsim.dsk The caveats on the download page says it only works with old mac classic hardware. (512k monochrome mac) They have flightsim 4, and it DOES work inside my emulator-- but the data is 4mb in size. I will see if I can coax it into becoming a compressed self mounting image file, that can then fit inside a floppy image. Nope. Will only pack down to 1.9mb that way. Too big. Here's a raw 5mb hfv volume file (that should be mountable using a more modern mac) that you can use to piecemeal move files into a floppy, and then onto your scsi disk with. flightsim4.hfv

Which classic computer was/is most fun to collect for?
wierd_w replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
lol- I used to "just know" the DIP switch settings on old IBM XT class systems, for the various configuration options. I have fond memories of doing low-level formats from debug using old MFM controller cards too. -

I dunno. I rather enjoy the clunkiness and fiddily natures of the old IBM clones from the mid 80s. I have ingrained muscle-memory on getting those things going, and getting them set up. The old 8bit generation had the whole "Ready at power-on" thing going for them, but I really like old clunky DOS. -
A period ethernet card is only gonna do 10mbit anyway.

Well.. I am going to reference this thread and the dialog on color picking we just dropped in it, after about another week. I get paid biweekly, and am not the most wealthy. I should have some disposable income to drop on filament then. An alternative would possibly be @Mehridian Sanders , who confided that he is intending to set up a filament recycler/extruder. (he intends to buy bulk PLA pellets, and fabricate filament.)

Or if you cant find one, get a localtalk to ethernet bridge. (They made them for stylewriters and pals) Pricey, but probably cheaper than an SE ethernet board. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Asante-AsanteTalk-ethernet-serial-LocalTalk-bridge-for-Apple-Macintosh-WORKING/283967114923?hash=item421dc24eab:g:-2oAAOSwF~9fI2dR Edit NOPE! Wow! About the same! https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Apple-Macintosh-SE-Ethernet-Adapter-NIC-Card-Cabletron-90000204/193176077190?hash=item2cfa310386:g:XSAAAOSwGbhdsxr0

Not really... Again, not a comprehensive color library out there. Czech khaki I added with an edit is pretty close, but possibly too yellow.

"Wood Like" filament? https://www.toolots.com/lee-fung-1-75mm-pla-3d-printing-filament-dimensional-accuracy-0-05-c17741-a11276-pla-wo.html "Military Khaki"? https://www.amazon.com/Paramount-3D-Military-Filament-GBRL10197530C/dp/B01LY8XVLO/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=khaki+PLA+filament&qid=1596590919&sr=8-3 Maybe a bit too yellow... The cd could come before it in the chain. In this case though, you would just be using the CD as a large transfer medium to house an .smi file that you double click to get the Net Install version of the 7.5.5 installer.
-
If you get one of the external CDs to daisy chain on, you could just grab the .SMI image and burn a mac cdrom with it on it, and do a proper install.
-
Since all you seem to want are system folders.. Should I make you a 7.5.5 naked boot image?
-
Desert tan it will be then. Any close analogues for the bottom tone?

The problem is that nobody wants to have a comprehensive color library for their PLA offerings, and everyone is using super washed-out stock photos of their material. But I did find an interesting filament if we want to do black + silver. https://www.amazon.com/Silk-Silver-Filament-Printting-Materials/dp/B06XSBFB17/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=silver+pla&qid=1596588544&sr=8-4

That's pretty close looking to "Desert Tan" https://glroboticsusa.com/products/pla-filament?variant=18718665146464¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=gs-2020-05-03&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign
