it's type 1, just found out today.

I'm sending good vibes!  I have a lot of friends and relatives who have it (I should probably be checked out myself)...It's not the end of the world.  One thing I will mention is that I had a friend go into that "low blood sugar" state and suddenly he couldn't even talk.  I called his niece and asked her what to do.  Turned out giving him apple juice snapped him right out of it.  So you might find out what to do in certain circumstances and tell friends ahead of time, just in case...

I am sorry to hear that. Type 1 is for life, but knowing several individuals that have it, it's something you will learn to live with. Insulin will pretty much be mandatory multiple times a day. Best of luck to you with it.
