Got the files transferred to the RPI. Got the AVRdude partially programmed, when my wife woke me up. She's so awesome. More on the morrow. Sleep well TInstrumentians.

Following up on the internal fan. I would recommend doing a project like this.
https://www.electroschematics.com/temperature-controlled-fan/
I might tweak some values to make it work with a 5volt 1amp fan. h

I am Noob. That being established, the Zenoboard looks like a solution for (as was previously mentioned), saving space. Is there a working version? the notes state that there was a single trace line where a fault existed but should be easy to overcome. This looks like a very fun project to undertake.

That is the joy of aging. The ability to see the beauty in a wider age range with regards to the female form.

swapped em, but still no TI output. Lemme make sure that the signal is still getting through.

first attempt is a "ERROR - NO DATA FOUND", even at 125% output.... gonna try some volume work.

Well here it is.TI REC Cable Tip -|
|-->PC Cable Tip
TI Playback Tip --|
TI REC cable sleave -> PC Cable sleave
TI Playback sleave -> NC
The grounding issue is that the REC tip is not connected to ground properly, so when it is plugged straight into the PC, it has a "Floating ground" and produces an awful hum. This makes it very hard for the TI to properly decode the sent audio, especially since the PC is not really loud enough. (barely loud enough with VLC doing the playback, and volume turned to 130%. Still not as loud as the TI belts it out though.)
From what I can gather, there is a common ground inside the program recorder, which makes this problem magically go away once both leads are plugged. However, that common ground does not exist plugging the REC cable straight into a PC's headphone jack-- hence the hum. The goal here is to connect the REC cable's ground with the playback cable's ground, so that something like a common ground is obtained using the TI's electrical system exclusively. It works.

@wierd_w ok. Tell me the connections please.PC2TI v0.1
On the stripped male connector the red wire is tip, white is base.
White (Earphone) TI wire connected to Tip.
Red (Mic) TI wire connected to Base.

Ok I found this self powered peripheral enclosure and am unsure as to which peripheral would be the best to add.
If you had 0 peripherals what would you add?
The Zip drive is just there to show space.

They are ISP (In System Programmable)
Have you tried asking for the binaries - result of the build, that you are having trouble with? I'm sure Ralph has it. Or you could file issues, or PRs against the github repos, so the source material can be fixed for future people to not even need your proposed guide. That would be ideal. And is achievable.
Somehow this simple solution eluded me. I was so focused on following the instructions, I failed to find an alternative solution that would have made things easier. Thanks @jedimatt42sorry you had to explain this.
I have emailed the support email link requesting the end result files of the Python Build.
- "PACKAGE.HEX"
- "UPDATE.PLD"
Thank you all for your patience with me on this.

That would be nice. It is already soldered down though :/ the github guide leads me to believe that the programming is done after it is soldered to the board.
Granted, the FAQ is good, and well laid out. I think I am gonna do a "The Modern TI-99/4a Mod Maker Dummies Guide". Laying out my mistakes and how they can be overcome.

@mizapf If you're using RPI linux how would you edit your path? This is the current hang up. I made sure I had 2.7 python installed but am getting the same error as above Errno 2.bash_profile or .profile are hidden files in your home directory. (All Unix files starting with a period are hidden; show them with ls -a.) It depends on the Unix flavor and used shell which of the files actually set the PATH. You can use any text editor to change them.

Here is something I ran across today taking apart an old wireless mouse card.
https://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data Sheets/Cypress PDFs/CY7C63722,23,43.pdf
this may work for PS/2 and USB keyboard/mouse support.
granted it is obsolete now but ... I may fool around with it see what shakes loose.
