Building the Finalgrom99 and the 32K sidecar.
Mehridian Sanders replied to Mehridian Sanders's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I am still kerflummoxed on that. The users of stackoverflow were not kind to my first posting there. Eventually I will figure it out. May not come from the Rpi either ... but would then have to purchase a programmer and learn that as well. I am not sure if you have to program the Atmel and the other BEFORE soldering them down... but then why would you add a SPI header to it?.. does the SPI header program both of the chips needing programming? Looking for this in the FAQ. Thanks ! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I am big on harvesting from current tech and repurposing for old. An easy way to do this would be to take a laptop cooling station, open it up, take the fans and whatever cheap circuit is in there. Then mount it inside the TI. Make a hole for the switch and/or usb(micro sometimes). I can usually find a station at Goodwill or some 2nd hand store for $2-$5. I use these a lot for my sons projects in his costumes. Blue/Red LED, propylene glycol, shielded heating agent, couple of fans. BAM! Blue/Red exhaust from blaster or backpack. @wierd_w I know you said it wasn't worth it ... I just kept having the wires slip off. Wanted something to make sure that the connections remained solid through the transfer. Now I am a total noob when it comes to actually working with programming on the TI. So, I am gonna run though the "Getting to know you" book. The Big yellow one. see if I can't teach myself something..... annnd get rid of this damn mechannical keyboard that loves to ghost in letters.

PC2TI v0.1 On the stripped male connector the red wire is tip, white is base. White (Earphone) TI wire connected to Tip. Red (Mic) TI wire connected to Base. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

On my first TI, I had to remove the power board completely, as I didn't have the original power supply. I used an old ATX 1 power supply and made 2 custom Molex form factor power connections to connect it. That left a lot more room available inside. I did have 2 led strips breathe/glow blue on the bottom grill and the upper grill from the inside. I almost had a Knightrider-esque boot cycle planned. Would have a 11-LED running fader go back and forth, and it would play the KITT woosh-woosh once when powered on/g3 reset. http:// Dumped it when I got the second 99/4a, 'cause it came with the power supply. More projects came and it fell by the wayside. If I didn't toss the board, I'll see if I can get it working. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

It appears that time was on this one's side...in truth I didn't think I going to be lucky enough to find an original. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

is this connection solely for "PC to Program Recorder" or is it also for "TI-99/4a to Program Recorder"?

Speech Synthesizer has the power pass through mod.. Does the external power supply have to be soldered down ? That's probably it.... Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -

Ok. The 32k Sidecar is complete I made sure the jumpers were set proper. Over TI and center. LED does not come on. No way to test if it actually works. :/ Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -

Thank you kindly for this wav repository. -
If I am reading this correctly, this is solely for keyboard. Not quite the same as an OTG connection. However, thanks for the link, I may have need of them if I completely bork up my keyboard. 🙂

Programming a Finalgrom99
Mehridian Sanders replied to Mehridian Sanders's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I am not really versed/instructed in Python... I am googling most of my questions. So if you know something basic to python that would be beginners noob level, don't hesitate to interject it. 🙂 the more I know! I have made a Stackoverflow account which should also be helpful. Thanks in advance. -

Update: Finally got round to making more time to program the FG99. CHECKLIST : - I got a python version of 2.* - I redownloaded the FG master and Xdt suite. - Fresh Buster install of Raspian on the 3B+ - Installed xdt suite, Avrdude and TI Logo background (for luck!). Ran the make.py script in terminal. Still no love ... cant find the files... Let The Debugging Begin!! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
