Connect the tip leads on the record and play connectors, since there is an open ground loop on the TI, and there is a ground noise hum unless you connect them together. Load the tape into the TI's memory with OLD CS1, then connect the program recorder, and save it from the TI. This assures that proper output levels are sent to the recorder.
ok. So I just got some Wumpus time in and it was grand. Now I have this program recorder. So to connect Mic and Speaker Connection tips, just connect the shielding from each line to one another?

RETRO Bill
somehow I missed the first part of this post. Do you a link for that USB upgrade? I was thinking earlier today that a OTG USB connector would solve a lot off incompatibilities.

Ok, now I see. Of the 2 boards contained in the Cc9900 the upper board housed the 32k and the disk controller while the lower board housed the sidecar connectors and the RS232 port. It was sold without the upper board. Well, can't win them all. At least it would give me some space to make my own disk controllerNo he says it's just a Rs232 port in the corcompAnd the other box is 32k
They were sold without the card that had the disk controller and 32k on it. Likely never had it

Thanks guys for informing me proper. Yanno this is a solid group. Looking out for one another. I haven't seen this often in the real world. I am glad to see it here!

If I am reading what you're saying correctly. They have removed the RS 232 connector and the 32k daughter board? So it's a husk of its presumed glory?

Well wish me luck on this. Would solve a lot of deficits with my system. Don't know the syntax for etiquette on this so.... guess cross your fingers !!
Thanks.

Alright yes it is more tedious. I am going to give it a go on the morrow. Thank you kindly. I will also post a pic of my setup for ya'll in the proper thread

I am glad they do. Made it much easier to clean them from the previous owners buildup. The Stackpole keyboard though... the keys literally fall out if inverted. Still feels good to type on ... will use it for a spell and see if it grows on me.

Well the IC's are finally here for the 32k sidecar!! but Jameco messed up the socket order. I actually did get the Cypress RAM chip, which is weird since I ordered the Alliance one.
Right now it looks like this. Can these parts be soldered down without the socket?
@jedimatt42 whatcha think?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I will remember this. Unfortunately, I can't use it. The keycaps (which look very Cherry MX like) only show the pole
i'd have to de-solder the switch. I tested the keyboard out though. And it will work but my headers come right into contact with the connector. So I get to redo that lol.

ok checked my points from pin 1 to enter and U. I. O. P. all are showing a signal of about 1 ohm
so the signal is still there
this is of course after the header addition. I am using the end point of the header to check the traces to make sure signal gets all the way through.

Thanks Greg, you were right they are very simple creatures. I guess I should have a bit more faith in my abilities. Either that or just not go bananasandwich when something new rears its head

so wait a second ... since I now have headers on this ... is it possible to split the keyboards function .. add a 10 key pad through USB and use the TI keyboard while in the keyboard with another PC? like make it dual purposed? Using a teensy 2.0 should be able to use the keyboard while the TI is off for the PC? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ran a trace from AL to Pin 6. Followed the trace carefully. Also added some headers for the output

ok the pads were coming away from the Alpha Lock trace and the pin 6 trace in general. Running a trace connection from Pin 6 to AL, should fix that issue. gonna be rerunning a lot of traces rom the looks of it ... also gonna redo the connection from the keyboard to the wires for a nice neat header.

Unable to check tonight... Honeydo list was long

Thank you. you've given me good knowledge. I have gotten better at Basic Electronics Knowledge (89), I've spilled my beer.Note: main chips on both boards are TMS9900s, made between 8301 and 8314 (first and fourteenth weeks of 1983). The number you were looking at is basically just a lot number.

Board 2 also has the crystal broken off

Pic 1 is my 99/4a
Pic 2 is a board I recognized immediately.
Although there are differences. Thoughts?
Board 2 has the ram yanked from their cradles. The Main Chip is 15595
Board 1 has intact Ram and the Main Chip is 12706

Well after removing the joystick fix lead U I O P started working again. Enter, R- Shift, and Spacebar are still not working. The Stackpole feels nice just that the keys fall out if the keyboard is inverted. Yeah I think I will send you the Futaba. For parts only, I think one of the pads came off.
