31 minutes ago, MrBeefy said:Holy cow! I go to work and this blows up! Here are some takeaways as I'm not responding on all comments.
Comparison of taking funds early is comparable between Amico and Atacobox.
Comparison was not in the sense of them both being a scam. That reaction is overblown. Which leads to...
Yes there is fanboyism going on. Is it bad to be excited? No. Is it bad to be skeptical? No.
Not all crowdfunding has tiers, nor does one need to us KS or IGG to crowdfund.
It is okay to not like the price jump. Psychologically the slow increases make it easier to dismiss them. Initially $150-$180 was a possibility. Now $225 is a possibility. That is close to $50-$75. Founders makes it even more so. (Yes there will be extras). If day one it was $150 and then went to $225 there would be more people jarred by that. And before anyone gets mad, that IS NOT me saying this is something Tommy is doing intentionally.
Switch talk....ug. Okay so $225 plus you get 5 games vs $250 and a $50 Breath of the Wild. This is something not many or any has mentioned, but what about time? What I'm getting at is how long does it take to complete say Moon Patrol? Are we talking a 5 hour game to complete/unlock everything? Now you take 5 games x 5 hours each and you have 25 hours. I know my nephew has put that if not more time into Zelda on his Switch. Sometimes with the higher priced game you are going to get more. This IS NOT me saying the games are better or worse on either system. If fact I like the idea of more arcade like experiences, but I also know I love me some Zelda and Mario to. Are there adult games? Um yeah are your kids going to buy and play them? If you are a lazy parent yes. BUT what about couch co-op? Nintendo has it. And while I get the price comparison, it DOESN'T account for having family and friends who already own a Switch. So, it isn't like I have to buy their controllers for them, but they can bring their own. It can be a little misleading, but not wrong either.
This brings up one of my business concerns for the Amico. If couch co-op is the bread and butter, couldn't that negatively affect sales? Me and my 8 buds like playing Amico together. What incentive is there for all 8 to buy Amico? If couch co-op is the main draw there is no less of one. One friend is the Amico house or he brings the Amico with him. This goes back to the single player experience to and the amount of play time.
This IS NOT me saying Tommy is scamming or that the Amico is fake. One of the defenses for the preorder money is also really a critique of taking the money. If this system is already paid for with investor money and this Founder's money isn't needed...why do you need to put more than $10 down like you would at a Gamestop? That goes back to why not charge after they ship?
Out of curiosity, for all those excited for this, how much be the max the price could be before wouldn't buy it?
Now, I'm excited to see more and I have high hopes for this, and it is nice to see people excited. I'm ready for the next Moon Patrol demo or some new footage.
I dunno what my max price would be I'd pay as much as the other consoles if the games are great. At the end of the day it's about the games. I love powerful specs but it doesn't matter. Which is one of the reasons the amico is focused on 2d and 2.5d
225 is more than 150 to 179 or more than under 200 but quality of console matters and 225 isn't that expensive as it comes with two controllers and 5 games... who knows maybe tommy goes back to the original 7 game plan to ad more perceived value. But either way not a deal breaker they sold me at earthworm jim.

I think it's a good question. Yes go outside, but meanwhile, maybe the sister or mother will want to play, etc.
So the question is worth asking.
Thank you Amico Tony !
I think it was somewhere in the 5 to 6 hr range not sure . But also it can be wired and I'm sure you can just have extra controller on charger if you want to continue wireless. But more than enough for average gamer

So when is the next big announcement?
When might we see some more gameplay?
Make sure you have on a clean pair of Spiderman underoos, because Tommy has mentioned they are aiming for Dec 3rd (intellivisions 40th anniversary) to release the next trailer. So get ready to Pitty some Atari foos , just don't eat cereal from a 35 year old box of Mr t cereal. Sit back and relax , because they are supposed to be showing a trailer for the controller, and who knows if the amico team will have any other suprises to finish off 2019 for the hungry amico fans that have been some Bad Dudes , because we are always ready for a good ole Burgertime even if we must bump and jump. ( Lol don't take any of my speak as clues , I'm more clueless than Alicia Silverstone after getting the call from her agent that she's up for the role of batgirl.)

I know that's the plan at least initially and I totally get the reasons behind it but what if the Amico is a massive success? The casual gamers are buying it, the hardcore gamers are getting it as a second or third system, the retro gamers are buying it, seniors are buying it, the young parents. That's a lot of different consumers that will have their own game genre preferences and 1 game every 7 to 10 days might not cut it. Intellivision may have to double or triple that. That's going to increase the workload on Intellivision to maintain the quality control. I hope they're prepared for that eventuality. I just ask because I think there's a strong chance that could happen.
They did say once install base grows and if quality titles in crease we could see ganes every 5-7 days or so potentially as many as 100 games a year ...that's the long term goal but short term will be 7-10 days . I hope they get more orders than they can make and hit a miracle and top the DS/3ds install base.
But if they can hit the Dreamcast ,wiiu Atari 2600 install we will see plenty of great games. But wonderful if they top the GameCube and hit over 30 million.
But Tommy says they need to sell 113,000 consoles and the company breaks even. And current store orders not sure if just Walmart is at 300k with intellivision meeting with retailers next month to try and up that order as they go into production in March to hit shelves on 10/10/2020. Honestly if Tommy can reach most if the retro abd hardcore base they will at the very least be successful but once the casuals and family's hit. Amico will be on everyone's tv. Every night will be amico Gane night.

Nope even if they want to they still need namco involvement. And nanco was in talks to purchase the full rights to everything related to Ms Pac-Man . And atgames new and went behind backs which alone could potentially spark a legal issue . Atgames then told retailers they had rights and tried to sell products. I bet namco gets full control soon be it in court or an out of court settlement. I don't think atgames has a keg to stand on or want to lose in court and take the financial hit. They already have Walgreens after them and who knows who all else

I've received a few private messages over the past few days from folks who know the story and bite their tongue. If you knew some of the stuff they've done and said... you'd be singing a different tune for sure. I've even had their own employees reach out to me apologizing and asking if they could come work for us instead.
There... I said it.
Abd that's prob not counting the underhanded thing they did to namco over Ms Pac-Man

It was better than nothing for sure. But when you dug deep... the emulation wasn't as good as it could have been. And the real tradgedy was that Keith & Intellivision Productions offered to fix it and give them all of the right stuff.... and they refused. A lot of the controllers failed and Keith and Emily felt bad for the customers so they personally had to buy TONS of controllers (over cost!) and personally mailed them out to customers because AT Games didn't care and refused to deal with customers. Then there was the packaging. Again... Keith had a MUCH better design but they refused.
I guess I just know too much of the inside scoop to like it as much as I should.
Well... at least I'm honest.
What a standup guy Keith was . When technically he didn't have to but he cared that much about the name of intellivision to uphold it no matter what.

Seriously though, my Dad and I played hockey all the time. It would be fun to be able to play with four people at the same time! I spoke to the wife and showed her the new website. She was like "what's that?" I told her that was the new Intellivision system I was talking about that is coming out in a year. To engage her more in the situation, I asked her which color scheme she liked best since it will be going in our living room. She liked the black & blue one the best because it looks modern. That was the one I picked out because it reminds me of Tron! So glad we agree on something! 😁
Well Tommy today's my birthday a free game would be amazing . waves from the bayou ( I'll even take a new bayou billy lol ) when I was a kid my dad bought me an intellivision on my birth day with he-man astrosmash , b-17 bomber , football, And night stalker. The intellivision and nes were the only consoles he ever played with me , I had an atari 2600 but he wasn't a fan of joystiq . ( He did like wiisports on Wii though) .
My dad went through most of his life thinking he had a learning disability and couldn't read or write, extremely intelligent guy though. Watched him learn to take a car apart ,draw a full diagram of the vehicle , figure what was wrong on his own and rebuild car. He was way smarter than he knew at that time , even though embarrassed he was never allowed to go to school after 1st grade. Inspired me that I could do anything even if im told that I have limitations. He's like the amico as a human.
But gaming wasn't fun with overly complicated controllers he liked pick up and play arcade action. Oh and pinball. That's my second love as well
Wishes Apon a star that Tommy spreads some luck this far. Lol I kid Tommy ,I don't have such luck. Maybe you will surprise me on this birthday with news on a game from my later childhood.... One of my fave snes genesis era horror games, Zombies at my neighbor's but with 4-8 players ......

It could be a St Patty's Day edition. Put a leprechaun on the front though.
Any unsold consoles can just be re-packaged as Earth Day editions.😎
Can also be repackaged as a special tmnt edition just add a turtle shell design on console. Replace the crome looking parts to look like turtle shell

I know these types of games probably don't fall into Amico territory because it's kind of single player experiences however I find these types of games are fun multiplayer games. Although my wife doesn't game at all anymore, back in the late 80's/early 90's, she played some of the Sierra games with me on the Amiga. So in essence, there was almost like a "party" game because of the puzzle aspect.
The game was so innovative in how it approached the adventure tropes of its day and well, it was just so funny and you are right IM, the difficulty balance was PERFECT! The sequel was awesome too. I hope at some point, someone finds a way to make such humorous games again on modern platforms like the Amico. It's a genre that is sadly forgotten and missed.
Who says that this genre has to be limited to only single player??

This is how I felt about Red Dead II. LOVED the first one and although the 2nd one is so much more. I didn't have as much fun, thought the controls were even more complex and frustrating, disliked the fact that I felt I needed to do everything the game wanted me to (in order to proceed) and after only 5 or 6 hours... I put it down and never played it again.
I struggled with this for awhile... but then simply decided... the game may have been BIGGER and more expensive... but for me... it didn't have the fun factor the first one did therefore in my eyes... it was a far less superior game IMHO. I played the first one easily over 100 hours. The 2nd one... 5 or 6.
Actually I loved max Payne I just hated that it was extremely short.i did rebuy as a budget PC title and played mods for it as well as multiplayer mods. The game needed something more to it but the short experience I had was enjoyable no real regrets , just i felt shorted big time. Not every game needs 100 plus hours but some games can have and be great and keep you wanting more. I loved red dead I have yet to.play red dead 2 yet. Know if we ever get a larger Game even in 2.5 d form with 3d cut scenes. An.la noir type game in both single and multiplayer form could be extremely fun on amico. And even a max Payne style game.
Tommy I got the perfect license choice for you guys to do exactly that with while being able to stay e10plus. Dick Tracy

Speaking of VR.will the amico controller be able to play to any.sort of AR (augmented reality)gameplay experiences?

Single player experiences will definitely be over 2 hours. I'm sure there may be some exceptions... but as of right now... definitely longer than that.
AS OPPOSED to most of the VR games I play and play $20 - $30 for!! Is it me... or is this ridiculous! I love the Rocky movies... so I bought Creed for my Ocolus Quest last week. There were literally only 5 or maybe 6 fights in Career Mode before it was over. I couldn't believe it. Great game... but I felt ripped off that they didn't take the time to create 50+ boxers that I could have worked my way up the ranks to defeat. I didn't lose a single match and the entire career experience was over in less than an hour. And I paid like $25 for it? WTH!?!?!?
A lot of VR games seem to be like that. I don't mind short experiences... but the price should reflect that! Just one other way that Amico is going to be so different than other stuff out there. VALUE! A family of 4 could spend up to $60 - $80 to take the family to a 2 hour movie. Add in going to dinner before and you're talking over $100. My goal is to offer a family multiple hours and hours and hours of fun and time together for an average of around $7. If we can show that and pull that off successfully... it will be just another big marketing bullet point and reason for folks to want one. This has always been an important part of the plan.
To your other question... games will have to be closed. No multiple windows, etc. But the great news is that its very seemless and quick to go back into the menu and into a new game. Doesn't take minutes like the other machines. Yet another one of my pet peeves in the current home console scene.
I remember when the original xbox came out I pre-ordered the console for halo. My other two games would be dead or alive 4 and max Payne. Max was a great game but the big let down for me was that it was way to short for any amount of money for such a game.ibeat the game I under 6 hrs. I didn't try to do a speed run and had no Gane guide or cheat codes.just played it that morning but by evening I was done. I can say i.liked the game but felt like it needed something more to it.
I do agree about many VR games being way to short. I'm afraid to spend money.on a game unless I'm sure it will be worth it for VR. Been burned too many times. Hopefully after the next gen headsets come out we start to see a stronger push towards full blown VR games.

I was thinking more so along the lines of the walking dead gamesor back to the Future. Type experience. Maybe an rts action adventure episodic campaigns for army men :).
Btw away from episodic content . The amico controller looks perfect for rts games. Army men would be the perfect example of one for all ages..
Back to episodic games.think.comic book action games. Maybe a more evolved version of the old comic book beat em.ups like what was on the genesis but with more adventure and rpg esc elements..i seen your electric playground video about the amico and you mentioned we will see such comic book games on the system. A comic book superhero game would make a fantastic episodic game.. but to be truly special.imagine if you could have a different experience By either playing the hero or one of the villains.

Another question is downloadable content. I totally get not having dlc. But I'm.curious if these will be allowed.
Say a licensed team sports title. Roster updates? Even if it's something simple as just moving players to different teams and adding names to characters and not adding any updated graphics. Dreamcast did it via the vmu . I'm not talking any Gane breaking dlc.
Also will the system be open to episodic adventure games??

Tommy in the recent smash jt video you said no.more than 2 intellivision games will be released at one time . This is up from the previous no.more than 1 game at a time. I was wondering if that was a slip up or an actual policy change. I for one support two games. As it potentially gives us more variety and options while also not over saturating the store every week. Seeing two quality games every week is great. Vs just 1. Still no where bear the hundreds of decent to shovelware that appears on the switch weekly.or daily or what we see on mobile , steam, or Xbox or PS4.
