This thread is not meant to debate the quality, validity, price, or future of the new Atari VCS.
I thought this was a discussion forum

Glad you said it. It was killing me seeing all these posts about the shipment not arriving, etc. while knowing different but not able to say anything. Made some folks in here look really silly who otherwise (I assume) wouldn't post such things if they knew better.
Alas, Atari could fuck up the Lord's prayer so the units making it to end users from their current locations in the USA is still up in the air.
Lol who's sillier? The people who backed this thing 3 years ago? The company who refuses to communicate with such backers? Or the ones enjoying the show that this has turned to be?
Again. Seeing is believing ?

Absolutely, but good god he called Gordo 106 a classic. Well, it's still got the saddest and most depressing backstory to any Lynx game...
Why?

Wow , now they are gaslighting us to believe that they never said that shipping began in october? This just keeps getting sadder everyday.

If you don't mind my asking, do I need anything else? There's a needle on the female end, which is where I'd assume I'd be putting the Atari cord- but that needle is in the way of the plug/needle in the cord since they're in the same place, right?
You need one of this:
This goes to the tvs ext ant port.
And also one of this:
This connects to the plug on the end of the Atari cable. Them you just screw one adapter into the other and thats all.

My Super nintendo had a similar problem of wavy lines that got corrected by changing the 7805 voltage regulator. Ive also read that faulty capacitors can cause this kind of issues.

I have a platinum GameCube that's broken, and once I get it fixed, I'm gonna mod it. But, I don't know what a modded GameCube is capable of.
Does anyone here have a modded Gamecube? If you do, what do you due with it?
And before you ask, no, I'm not going to add an SD Card loader (unless I have no choice)
Play isos from your and different regions, use the gameboy player with a different interface, load homebrew (emulators, media players and miscellaneous apps). I think thats all what you can do with a modded Gamecube.

My latest primary emulation machine is a Lenovo Thinkcentre M93P with a Core i5, 8GB, and a SSD. I bought this reconditioned from Amazon a few months ago for $148. It blows away the RPi and runs pretty much everything
Thanks for your answer . I think thats a kind of pc that i could afford in the nearby future. In the meantime ill give batocera a try. I think i finally got it figured out.

I wish I could give a good answer for that, but you're probably better off doing some searching. However, I do have a different suggestion that might net you better results.
I really like RetroArch as a program, but I'm not a big fan of Lakka. In theory, the barebone minimum RetroArch (Lakka) should be one of the best choices, but I find Lakka runs really janky unless you do some configuring (especially on lower end systems). I'd actually suggest giving Batocera a try.
Like Lakka, it's a custom version of Linux that's built to just add games and go (give or take some BIOS files). I found it works surprisingly well even with some old office computers with no video card. I was able to run a couple PS2 games with it. It can be a tad finicky, but I still like it better than Lakka. Granted, I may have just been impatient with Lakka. *shrugs*
Thanks again for your answer!
I tried Batocera once but never made it to work, i could never found out where to put the roms or how to make the roms appear. Still im gonna take your advice and give it a second try.

Based on my own emulator usage, I feel you're going to get more out of a CPU upgrade than a RAM upgrade. However, I did a bit of looking around online, and that seems to be the conclusion.
While a RAM upgrade will help the system in general, the main brunt of emulation is on the CPU. Better GPU (graphics) will help as well, but it seems like the CPU is still the biggest factor.
I remember Dreamcast being pretty tame on most of the games I play, and I think Saturn emulation is still a bit janky even now so could just be that.
I will say GameCube is easier than one would think, but I get still get some issues on a better system with it.
Thanks a lot for your answer. Yeah i was fearing that a ram upgrade wasnt going to improve things a lot, but i had to give it a shot. Well since i cant upgrade the CPU i have to start saving for a new pc.
Now the question is: what is the lowest specs pc that can run decently the most recent console emulators ?(up to saturn)

Greetings.
I use retroarch (lakka 2.32) on an old laptop with a celeron dual core processor, integrated intel graphics and 2gb of RAM (yes i know its crap). Surprisingly i can play most games up to n64 and psx without trouble, also some dreamcast, saturn and even Gamecube games( with glitches and slowdowns though).
My question is: if i upgrade the ram ( the board supports up to 8gb) would i see some improvement on the performance of the most intense emulators? Or the definitive factor is the CPU speed?
I can afford a memory increase but not buying a new pc, and mainly want to play more dreamcast saturn and maybe Jaguar games.
Thanks in advance for reading!

Atari can't replicate that.
They are not even trying. They are just milking the brand all they can until its dry and meaningless.

This confirms a lot of what has been speculated on this thread. So basically nobody who has received one of the 96 promotional units has bothered to open it and show the damned product to the internet?
I wonder why pdubs didnt get one...

Greetings.
I have recently acquired one of the teknogame Gamecube controllers for a very low price. Obviously as with other third party controllers my expectations were low, but luckily this controller has proved to be a quite decent acquisition.
The plastic feels cheaper than the original ,but not that much and the controller is just a bit lighter (about 75%). The buttons and d pad are a little bit stiffer but with a decent feel, specially the analog triggers (yes they are analog and with a nice travel). The joysticks are equally a bit stiffer but overall not that different from the originals. The rubber coatings are thinner but not slippery and have decent grooves. The cord is a little shorter than the original (about 3 inches) and a little thinner but is firmly connected to the controller and the connector.
Im not a Pro smash player and i am sure that this controller is not suited for competitive smash play, but in my experience the movements are solid and without drifting, the directions and button presses register considerably well and the analog triggers work as intended.
Testing with Mario sunshine i was able to do all the movements and fludd techniques without problem. Also tested with Mario Kart double dash and f-zero gx, the controller works exactly as my og one. In Wii virtual console the dpad feels responsive and comfortable.
In conclusion even though the third party Gamecube controllers have a very bad reputation, i believe that the teknogame ones are of enough quality to enjoy casual game experiences on the Gamecube and Wii or as spare controllers for multiplayer. Seeing the high prices that og and new (wiiu and switch) controllers command, the teknogame ones go for half the price (or less) and come in a variety of funky colors. Overall a good option (specially considering the analog triggers that the new controllers dont have).

Nope.Kind of strange to me...guess Mattel has a lot of blank RFID cards taking up space in some warehouse. Win/Win for everyone...I guess?
So every device with an RFID reader is a hyperscan or what?
Its so hard to understand that Mattel has absolutely no relation with the Amico?

Also...there IS a connection with Mattel’s HyperScan...it’s called RFID cards.
You are kidding right?
Also, i dont get the relation between the success or failure of the amico and the vcs.

Perhaps his goal is to change the environment and mantra here so it isn't so hostile toward backers. I would like a more welcoming forum here too.
Sorry but the people on this thread are not just being hostile towards backers just for the sake of it, but, what do you expect when backers come here defending "atari" and telling us that the vcs is the best thing since sliced bread? Do you want people to applaud and agree?
Excuse me but even you have to admit that this project have been managed in a very poor way and with very little respect to the backers.

I guess those public demos was all fake news as is all the updates and info that they have shared on the development and production process for this console. It is unprecedented the level of transparency there has been to the development process. No other company has ever shown you every step of the console from design to production and then internals of their to be released product because it is usually kept under wraps and only limited details revealed until late in the game so as to not give the competition an edge on how to one up their new product.
Are you serious? As a crowfunded product that was the bare minimum and they havent shown any relevant information so far, specially when theres supposed to be 96 units of the finished console and controllers somewhere around.
