PAL pirates... finally getting due recognition?
staberinde replied to Spirantho's topic in Atari 2600
Well, indeed your bids weren't to high and the Spacevision went for 22,40 Euros (including shipping) I think Dino pointed out correctly, that a few years ago, only very few people went after PAL pirate stuff. But from what I see, that is basically still true today to a certain extend. There had been bids on those games by the same three or four persons, and I don't think that there are even now much more people than this going after PAL pirates. But prices go up if there is more than one bid obviously. Does this mean, they are more valuable today? Not sure (and I hope not, as I am still missing so many of them ). I could imagine, that Marco or you would have paid the same money a few years ago, if you had to. But as there were so few other people, you did not have to. The day someone pays more than $$$ for a PAL pirate, prices will really have gone up. But nevertheless, thanks to Rom for his great work on the PAL section of the Atari 2600 history! -

Compiling lists of Atari, Corp. (re-release) label variants
staberinde replied to Christophero Sly's topic in Atari 2600
Well, I guess most of you guys only collect NTSC, thus having the list organized in an NTSC a PAL part makes sense. But I personally don't really care too much about the label variation being PAL or NTSC, but would prefer to have the list organised by Game and Variation, and then have a specific column (perhaps as a new second column) for the format (like: NTSC, PAL, both). This would make it much easier to see whether some specific variation existis in some specific format, which is somewhat difficult within the current format. Off course I can do that for myself, but perhaps others would like this kind of re-organisation too?? -
Compiling lists of Atari, Corp. (re-release) label variants
staberinde replied to Christophero Sly's topic in Atari 2600
88 PAL Ms. Pac-Man (No controller, CX Yes). -> I have this one, it has a P sticker on back and shows exactly the same colors as a PAL variant on my PAL TV, so yes, this is PAL PAL Mario Bros. without CX and controller info. -> You can find two scans of those on my site, both are PAL (sticker on back and correct colors). -
Only the one you have already listed .

FS: 2600 Karate Ultravision Cartridge
staberinde replied to Atari2600.com's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Yours is most probably PAL and therefore worth about 1/20th of the Ultravision version. The funvision version is probaly a tad more common, but both are R10s hands down. So that sounds like I should remove the small "FunVision" sticker overlaying the Ultravision logo and make my cartridge worth 20 times as much, right? JerryG It is a little more complicated than that... 1) remove FunVision label 2) remove Ultravision label 3) replace FunVision label 4) buy any K-tel, Funvision, Ultravision t-handle 5) remove label 6) remove whatever EPROM is currently on the board 7) burn NTSC Karate image on EPROM 8] put Karate EPROM on board 9) put Karate label on cart Now you have both the original PAL Funvision and NTSC Ultravision Karate. Maybe you could do the same thing with any of the v-case cartridges from Funvision, and make a square Karate since it seems to be more rare. I don't know if the v-cases normally contain EPROMs though. Who knows, maybe that is how this latest Karate came to be . Anyone know who sold it to Atari2600.com? Hey, sounds good, perhaps I should earn some thousand dollars ... but wait, why should I sell crappy NTSC stuff instead of keeping cool PAL R10s :-) And: 3) will give some nice cart, because the Funvision sticker is only above the Ultravision text, not a whole new label ... -

OK, here's my take on this... 1. "Space Robot" seems like a clone of Missile Command. 2. "Astro War" is identical to the game "Sea Monster" I had. I think it had the same label as pictured above, but with "Sea Monster" on it (only the manual sheet said "Sea Master" and was packed with the "Missile War" cart). 3. "Phantom Tank" is unknown to me. 4. "Condor Attack" was my "Galactic", though I'm pretty sure it didn't say "Goliath" at the bottom. Same for 4a. "Condor Attack" T-Handle 5 and 5a. "Open Sesame" is unknown to me. 6. "Spider Kong" (all variations) is unknown to me. 7. "Space Tunnel" is unknown to me. 8. "Sea Monster" is the same as my "Missile War", though my cart said "Bit Corp." at the bottom, not "Fuzzy". Are these PAL or NTSC screenshots? I ask this because your folder is called "Eigene Bilder", which hints to a german speaking country, which usually has the PAL TV standard. Yes, those are PAL.

Uups, sorry, I didn't even recognize you could not see the picture names (and thus which screenshot is which). I attach a zip-file including the pictures, so you can see the corresponding picture name. goliath.zip

FT: Home Vision Teddy Apple, Tanks War, Wall Break ...
staberinde replied to staberinde's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
The Tanks War with the intact label has a very yellowish card (as can be seen on the second picture). I thought about changing the label between the cards but decided not to risk any of those labels. So I will stick to the damaged label one with the better card. I sure will find a mint (boxed) one sometimes :-) Next time I plug in my scanner, I will think about it :-) -

Complete Quelle Compumate VCS2600 PAL
staberinde replied to Mister VCS's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
oh good god, I didn't notice it had 8 bids! I thought that was the opening price some crazy set, looks like it's one lucky seller and a few REALLY dumb bidders!! ??? Look at the bidding history, it is only ONE buyer (second highest bidder is $32). Very strange indeed ??? -
PAL 32 in 1: G.C. 2.1992 Dark Chambers, C3000016-151 Rev. A, G.C. 4.1992
-
Well, that's basically a matter of definition. I still would say it is a label variation, as it is the same game (as far as I know) with respect to graphics, gameplay etc. I for myself would not count PAL and NTSC versions of the same game as two different games. But off course you are correct that it's a different rom, so if you define the game by it's code, you are clearly correct. Still, no one willing to trade a PAL Pengo for n+2 combat games ?
-
Well, I'm not so sure about this. There are at least four known copies of PAL Pengo. Given that this is basically only a label variation (although probably one of the rarest), this does not really make it THE hardest to find cart. So, anyone has any for trade? Would give some Combat cart

NTSC crap :-)
