Wow, very impressive, Tempest. One question for you, though: I noticed you had some of the games in the Ultima series. Where's Ultima III? Did I miss that in one of your pictures?
-
Hm. I love Imagic games for the Atari 2600, but this game I am completely NOT skilled in. I tried it the other day and found my skills have degenerated to getting whomped constantly, over and over again. Demon Attack is more up my alley.

When I heard the news report, that wasn't mentioned. If it is the result of that auction, then they failed to bring it into the news report. Going down in price isn't what I expected, however.

Hi, Rick. Sorry I've been incognito for awhile. Hope all is going well with you!

I can't believe this, but I suppose I should. Recently, I heard tell (from a TV news show, no less) that the Atari 2600 has doubled/tripled in price recently in collectivity. I didn't hear about the games themselves, but by the news account the Atari 2600 has become a "hot item" to obtain and collect for, more so than recent years. Anyone experience a price surge in the consoles lately, or seen as they are out and about the Atari 2600 slowly increasing in value?

I can't decide which Atari 2600 I should get

Hi. I recommend a light sixer woody (as that's my console), plus you need to include in your game list a copy of Phoenix complete with box, manual, and comic book. -
This is an interesting topic. I myself am getting an Original Platinum DS. I have had one of these before, and have also had a DS Lite. I personally prefer the original DS model. I know, perhaps I'm being too old fashioned, but I figure older game systems are really appreciated around here! Anyway, I'm looking forward to owning the DS again. Since it's inception, I have been impressed by the number of titles released for it. Yes, there is a good amount of "shovelware" out there, but with a little patience, you can end up with a great selection of games. Understandably, we all know that the DSi has the potential to run "better games" down the line, resulting in some games being exclusive to just the DSi. That's fine, since there are still 100's of titles available to pick up for the DS and DS Lite. It's like with any "older" gaming system...you just have to hunt for the deals. I can't wait..I think the DS will be my favorite portable again in no time. Steve

Trying to trade out a complete SNES gaming system. It's hardly yellowed, has all the hookups, and two controllers. I can throw in three games with the system if you're interested, but one (Super Baseball 2020) has writing on the front in permanent marker. All the games are "cart only" (the other two are Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Mario Kart with no end protectors. I'm looking for Gamecube games, complete with box and instructions. Here's my short list: Tales of Symphonia The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Super Mario Sunshine Luigi's Mansion Resident Evil (any) If you have these games and are interested in my SNES, let's trade. I will send via the USPS and provide you with a tracking number (delivery confirmation). If anyone here wants to buy outright, let's say $30.00 plus shipping, and I'll throw in the games. I would expect payment first in the form of a US Postal Money Order. Thanks for looking. Send PM's, please, or email [email protected] -Steve

My cat, Peaches, is very sick : (
classicgamingguy commented on GideonsDad's blog entry in GideonsDad's Blog
I hear you. My cat Tigger died at 20 years old after a long bout with an illness and respiratory infection. He was a great cat and I still miss him terribly to this day. One of our outdoor cats has gone missing recently and we all fear the worse. We have fisher cats and coyotes around us, so it's not looking good for her (Whiskers is her name...a small black and white mix that has the most gentle disposition). I hope Peaches pulls through. -Steve -

Blog: 80’s retro consoles…my opinions

Simply amazing...I can't believe some of this stuff these days. Sigh.. -
Well, I'm not sure WHAT I'm doing these days, but seems as though I'm collecting old Macs..where this came from or how this started is anyone's guess. I really had no intention of collecting this stuff, but for some reason I've been bitten by the old Apple bug. AND it doesn't help that I work at a place that gets in old computers for recycling. The iMac is in GREAT shape, in the dark-blue color, with a clear optical mouse that's just downright sexy. The keyboard is clear as well. No software with it, but this things seems loaded from my initial power up. The system version is 9.2, and I think it could take 10. The Powerbook 1400c is also loaded with utility and application software (system version 7.5.3), and everything looks great on it. No book covers to speak of or extra software, but it's a little gem. Battery will not hold a charge, which was to be expected for it's age. Trackpad works fine, and all buttons are in excellent shape. I think next I'm going to look for a Plus or SE, since I grew up on those before getting bitten by the PC bug. Any thoughts on collecting old Macs, or does anyone else around here do that sort of thing? Am I going completely nuts? Anyway, your thoughts/comments would be appreciated, or any experiences you might have. Thanks, all. I think I'm going off the deep end on this one.

SNES system complete with 3 games! For trade is one Super Nintendo Entertainment System. In great shape (hardly, if any, yellowing), this unit comes with two controllers, AC adapter, and RF connector. A/V cables are also included. The games that will be sent with the system are: Mario Kart-loose The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past-loose (faded label) Super Baseball 2020-writing on the front of label (why do people do this?) No box or instructions available for the SNES, however. The unit itself could stand to be cleaned up a bit, but it functions completely. I am looking for the following games for the Gamecube, complete with box and instructions: Tales of Symphonia Pokemon Colosseum Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Game Action Replay (I've never owned one of these, so if you got it, let me know) If you have these games, and would like an SNES system, please send me a PM with details. I can take pictures of the SNES, however, they will be grainy as I only have a Quickcam and no digital camera. The SNES comes from an electronic recycling program. Any questions, feel free to ask, and thanks. -Steve

Oh come on...no one mentioned THIS one: The BFG in Doom. Oh my God, that was awesome the first time you got it! How many of you blazed through your ammo in 1.5 seconds? -
Proof that Nintendo is evil
classicgamingguy replied to Random Terrain's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Wow...I think I remember seeing this commercial a bit further back in the old memory, but it's hard to recall. It's pretty damn cool, though. No wonder I love Nintendo so much. They brainwashed me about 20 some-odd years ago!! I believe this isn't real, but whomever made it deserves a big ol' hug! Steve -

Yeah, this is a sad story, but not unexpected. I mean, there might have been deeper problems involved, but the videos and whatnot made the situation worse. And as far as making this public, seems everyone is doing that with their private lives (a.k.a. Facebook Twitter, and others), letting EVERYONE know when you Twitter about having to go to the bathroom is absolutely ridiculous. I mean, when did privacy go out the window? Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about this guy's loss. Since he made it my business, anyway... -Steve
