How many 2600 systems do you own?
classicgamingguy replied to cyberneticimplant's topic in Atari 2600
I am the proud owner of two Atari 2600 systems. 1 Woody 1 Darth Vader (which has mysteriously disappeared somewhere... ) Both still work (Well, the 'Vader did last time I checked) and are sitting proudly in my spare room. Both are 4-switchers, however. A heavy-sixer is on my list to get...someday. Steve -
Wow, now that's something I've never seen before. Very impressive I must say. I think that would look very nice in my collectibles room, don't you?

Ms. Pac Man..ahh, what a game. I have Pac Man coming for my 5200, but this game would make a good companion to it, of course. Heh, anyone have one they want to trade? Okay, I'll stop now. This is getting obsessive!!!

Wow, what a great bunch of responses. Now, I think I should clarify a bit about the system, what I'm getting, it's state, etc. And especially my competency regarding repairs and fixes. The system comes with TWO joysticks, but the second joystick is not a standard 5200 controller. It's something else from the picture, with a red stick and broad base. http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/sys/76507771.html I'm not sure what the other stick is, but in the ad it states that both work great. The system comes with three games (Centipede, Pac Man, and Joust) which IMO is a great starter set. Everything is supposed to work, which I fully intend to play when I receive it in my hot little hands. Now, as far as ripping things apart....that might not be such a good idea when it comes to me. I have never done this sort of thing before (opened up systems to clean them, etc.), so I believe it would be more prudent for me to have someone else do it. I would have a remarkably large chance of messing things up so bad as to make it unplayable (ask the wife...all thumbs..lol). Thanks, everyone, for all the advice. If anyone has more, please feel free. I could use all the help a newbie like myself could get. Steve

Yeah, Beef Drop does sound like one I'll want to get...gotta go slow, however...Berzerk is the first one I want. Thanks for the input. Steve 870465 I've got an extra Berzerk. Gameplay is fairly hard, but the voice enhancement makes an absolute riot to play. If you intend on using the original 5200 controllers rebuild them with the Gold-Dot buttons and a new flex circuit. It make the system a whole lot more enjoyable. The rubber used for the buttons is softer than the original and makes the fire buttons much easier to use, and a lot more responsive. 870507 Great...can you spare it? PM me if you can..I can trade you? Let me know what you think about this...I really want this game.

Yeah, this one looks grreaat! Can't wait until it's release. Steve

Hi, everyone. Got a great deal on a 5200 coming to me! Controller, unit, a few games, boxed, instructions, for $20.00 plus shipping. Everything is reported to be in working order, so on the outset of a couple of weeks, I will be a 5200 owner. Then I can start scouting around for the games. Oh yeah, one more thing: I've never owned an Atari 5200. I'm not sure WHY this system didn't come into my hands at a younger age, but I've heard nothing but good things about them (except the controllers...which I heard can be a hit or miss proposition on them working).. Anyone who owns an Atari 5200 chime in with their positive feedback about their system? Or cristiscm, as the case may be...I'd like to know what I have to took forward to, or lack thereof. lol Screen shots don't do it justice, I'd imagine. EDIT!! Erhm, I forgot to mention...someone have a spare Berzerk for the 5200, voice enhanced? Heh...I really do want that game. I love it for the 2600, and it's a must have for my upcoming 5200...anyone? PM me if you gots.. Steve

Wohaaa! Nice haul there. I must say I'm impressed. The church sales around here mostly contain teacups and the like. Snifff. never a video game system in the works!! ARGH!!
-
Hmm, I remember them being "clicky"....is that what you wanted?
-
Curiosity abounds....do you have any 5200 systems? I know, I might be shooting in the dark on this one...but I have to know! PM me!

I'm assuming pretty high...well, we'll see. Amazing...I'm still amazed by the Atari products on the Ebay block for sale...
-
Yeah, I hear you there. Almost all my carts are common...well, they're mine, so I should be grateful of that. Good deal on this system and games, though. Perhaps if I stick around these boards long enough I'll sound like I know what I'm talking about.

too rich for my blood, but wow!

Quite the collection of stuff, though. Yeah, I'm sure the reserve it quite high on this. Well, I can look and drool, I guess. -
As much as I'm a neophyte to the Atari 2600 collection world, I'm not quite that naive..lol.
-
You and me both...lol...don't think I'll take a chance on this one.

Almost got a 2600 Meltdown prototype for $1

Hahaha!! That's a good one. I agree with everyone about the jack-up of the price to try and turn a major profit. This guy deserves to be tar and feathered...better yet, honey, a shovel, and a large nest of fire ants nearby... -
So, thats the random numbers i see in bathroooms sometimes. You must be pretty bad because all I see is "69" 869728 LOL!

Hi, everyone. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in trading cart-for-cart, one of your copies of Wizard of Wor (boxed or unboxed for the Atari 2600)?? I really can't afford to buy another game right now (heh...considering what I've done in the last couple of weeks, I should be shamelessly beheaded..ask the wifey), but if you're interested in trading, attached is a list of what I currently have available (doubles are noted). Please forgive the format. I can send it to you in Excel (which is a better-presented version) if you wish. PM me if you have a spare cartridge to trade. Instructions would be a plus, but aren't necessary. THANKS!! Atari_Collection_7_15_04.txt

The gatefold #boxes only have names on one side. In arranging mine, I always put the left side out in view like if they were books. The Atari gatefolds are only titled on the right side though. So they are all backwards from the rest. Street Racer only stands out because it is laying on it's side. Actually alot of his boxes are turned around backwards on his shelves. If you turn his pics sideways you'd notice that. Donkey Kong JR (Coleco) & Donkey Kong (Atari) were both difficult boxes for me to track down. I was looking for months on ebay, running searches specifically for them before I finally found. I'm not surprised you're still missing those two. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us! 869725 Ooops...well, as you can see, and everyone else for that matter, I still have a LOT to learn! Thanks for the heads up..perhaps one day I'll be the trader/collector everyone ELSE seems to be here!

Hmmm, you know, that's a good idea, the spreadsheet thingie to keep scores. Thanks for the idea!

shoot me a PM with your address and Freeway is yours! 869460 PM sent, StanJr. THANK YOU!!!
-
GOD! I'm am SOOOO jealous!!! lol Hey....one of your boxed "Street Racer"'s is upside down. BUT....this collection of yours is *beautiful*, man!! I think I'm going to cry my eyes out....

Hmmm, I have a four switcher, but some of the cartridges as well don't go in all that easily. They feel "really snug" when being removed or inserted. Of course, I'm usually very gentle putting them in, but it still makes me nervous when I go to remove them.. I'm afraid I'm going to hear a "snap" and ruin a game.

I remember that tron stick! Very nice..all my games are in my dresser drawer, loose, without much rhyme or reason. My room is terribly cramped, and I have NO space to display them nicely...well, there IS that little shelf I got. Star Trek would have to get dumped somewhere else, but my Atari stuff could go there..sigh...so much to do, only the rest of my life to do it in!!
