1. Wow.......... that's a great collection...the boxes, the games....I think I'm in total LOVE!!!! Ahem, pardon me while I drool a little. Congrat's on your collection. Impressive............most impressive...
2. I didn't even think of that... I just now took a closer look at the main front label and there is indeed another label underneath it. They're almost exactly on top of each other, so I can't see what it is (and I don't want to peel it off) but I'm sure it must be a Berzerk label also. 863360 Looks like a reused cart...was Berserk, got swapped out for Yars Revenge? Just a thought...probably wrong, but...lol....since most of you have way more experience than I do with the 2600...
3. Hrm, never heard of an Atari 2600 clone...looks interesting, though.
4. I'd have to go with Freeway. Although I don't have a copy of this game myself (and I want a copy..heh), this is one I played as a kid and enjoyed.
5. Wow....that's a great rebate flyer! I wish I had some newspapers/magazines of the crash period. Perhaps it would jar some more memories...
6. And here I thought I had a nice-sized collection. Hrm...puts my collection to absolute shame. But, the good news is it's quite managable! I'm quite proud of it, even though it is a *tad* small. Anyway, I don't have any double-ender cartridges, either. I've NEVER seen one, and now that I have, I WANT one!! lol...I guess this habit is starting to grow out of proportion! We have a digital camera..perhaps I can take a picture of my collection and post it here, if I can get the camera away from my wife for five minutes.
7. I would have to agree with everything said here. Amazing forums, and I usually get bored with the posting thing after the first week. I find myself coming back here time and time again to search through archives and such for Atari stuff. This whole site keeps me very interested in Atari, and the 2600 in particular. Great site, great forums, great articles, it's all very, very good. Kudos!
8. Question: What's good on the outside of the console? Just regular Windex? I don't want to damage the plastic case...perhaps just water? The dust that's accumulated on the unit needs to go.
9. Hrm, I remember playing it to death when I first got my Atari 2600, but then again, that was the only game I had for a couple of months!!
10. Yeah, I have similar memories of games that I once payed through the nose for (as a kid, getting that much money was rather hard. But by 1983 I was 16) were available for a fraction of the cost. The rumor was the video game industry was dead for all time. I'm glad that didn't come true. I was traumatized enough when coin op arcades went out for good. *sniff*
11. pm sent minorleagueguy 867245 One PM returned. Thanks.
12. Just one, the Atari version of Combat. Sigh....I really don't want a hundred of them lying around.
13. Well, as good as you can expect from the era. Realsports Football (which is soccer) is very primative by today's standards. However, I remember playing Tennis on my Atari 2600 for hours....it was most fun, although very limited in what you could do with your team. Like all games for the 2600, they are only as good as the hardware they are on. Graphically challenged, yes, but addictive to play. P.S.--------> I really don't enjoy sports games myself, but Tennis was something I just couldn't seem to pull myself away from. Then again, the same goes for any game I seem to play on the 2600...except of course E.T.
14. HAHAHA!!! That was great! Yeah, first time I saw it, though. Gotta get out from under my rock once in awhile...
15. I personally prefer PC gaming myself. More for the role-playing games than anything else, and I love strategic games that involve lots of information windows. I love to micromanage.
16. I still believe an original design of a classic gaming system from days gone by makes it collectible. My equipment is all from the early days of gaming, passed down to my by my Father who passed away a couple of years ago (God rest his soul). It has more of a special meaning to me, and is priceless. I play it often and long..enjoying the memories of yesteryear and recalling all the fun times I had as a kid playing the exact same systems. Heh...
17. Heh...now that makes perfect sense.
18. I personally prefer Ms. Pac Man over Pac Man, but I think part of the reason I was tainted was the Ms. Pac Man version for the VCS was way better than the Pac Man version (although I must admit I play both to this day...and I don't recall being that overly disappointed when I owned it as a kid..go figure).
19. I personally have never seen or played a "speeded up" version of Ms. Pac Man. I prefer the "older" versions that go at a nice pace versus frantically trying to "take corners" but miss and run into a ghostie. Then again, we have NO arcades in my area anymore. The last one left about three years ago, and some of the local restaraunts that had coin ops don't have them anymore. Oh, for the glory days of coin op gaming!!
20. Hi, everyone. I was wondering if anyone had spare or duplicate manuals they would like to sell/trade? Here's a few that I need in my collection: Pitfall Pitfall 2 Phoenix Haunted House Galaxian Ms. Pac-Man Laser Blast Adventure Superman Space Invaders Plus, if anyone has an original manual for the VCS itself, that would be great. Thanks, everyone. Feel free to PM me or leave me a message here, whichever's easiest for you.
21. Cosmic Ark (x3) Star Voyager (x2) Are these still available? I'm interested in both, actually. Please PM me or email me at: [email protected] Thanks!!
22. Yeah, that's true. There are a select few of us still playing Atari. Let's see, music of the 80's.. Duran Duran Journey Those were usually on while I was playing Atari. I did spend lots of time at my friend's house, though....the Atari didn't get played as much as it does today.
