Friend's son gets pi$$ed off at Atari
classicgamingguy replied to Atari Charles's topic in Atari 2600
I guess it depends on the game. Try playing HALO on the hardest setting. Seems a lot of players have advanced far beyond anything Atari had out in the 1980s. Unless I'm in the mood for the old stuff, I'd rather play a newer game as long as the game has enough randomness and freedom in it. For example, I'd rather play Morrowind (GotY) on the Xbox than Adventure on the Atari 2600. 865175 I've played Halo, and yes, I understand the adjustable difficulty settings. By no means am I saying the games of today aren't challenging. I'm just the opposite of you...I'd rather play a good game of Adventure over Morrowind. I'm a classic gamer through and through, I guess. My Atari is getting more of a workout now than when I was a kid. I really haven't "advanced" past my Atari...I still love it, all the games, and prefer it over the new systems. Just my humble opinion. -

Hi, everyone. Listed below are a few items for trade or sale, depending on if you have an item I want in question: NES system, with controller, RF switch, AC adapter and some games. About 6 games comes with it in total, all work well. Asking $25.00. See wants later. Gameboy Advance SP, color black, no games, AC adapter included. Asking $20.00. Sega Genesis with CD attached, no power cables or games, controller..not sure if it works as I have no power adapter to check it. Asking $20.00. PSX system, original design, no controller, other cables included, no games, cover sticker on lid, works last time I checked (about 1 month ago), asking $20.00 Wants: Odyssey II system, with some games and controllers, RF unit to hook to TV. Will trade any of the above for it. Colecovision system, with some games and controllers, RF unit to hook to TV. Will trade any of the above for it. That should do it. If anything peaks your interest, PM me here or write: Thanks again for everyone being patient with me during my first days trading, buying and selling. Please note: Items sold/traded AS IS. These systems work to the best of my knowledge, except where noted above. The only one I wasn't sure of was the Genesis...it's been sitting in my closet for awhile now. Thanks!!

What do you plan to do with your collection?
classicgamingguy replied to 82-T/A's topic in Atari Jaguar
Heh. I personally like to own!!! OWN I SAY!! MINE MINE!! Ahem, I really hadn't planned, though, on what I was going to do with it in my "elder years"....hrm, perhaps I'll just have it buried with me. -
FireTiger, PM sent with listing.

Steppenwolffan21, okay... let's do a deal. I'll send you a compiled list fo Atari 2600 games, and you decide what you want for the bare 5200 you got. I'll gladly trade you. Do you have Excel? If not, I'll have to change the list to a format you can read. Let me know if this is okay with you.

Here's another example... I've owned the Xbox and Gamecube systems, however, they tended to "go by the wayside" as I got bored with them. Now, my Atari was hooked up during this period of time, and even though I enjoyed my newer systems, the Atari always got at least an hour of play every night. With the new systems right around the corner, the Atari is still there glaring defiantly at the newer systems. lol...a bit melodramatic, yes, but who would have thought decades ago the system would still be in homes today by a dedicated fan base??? -
I understand the rarity of the 5200, and I realize that alot of people don't necessarily want to part with it. Frankly, I'm not trying to cause any headaches with the trade. I have about 60 games for the VCS, some duplicates, some not, some with end labels and some not. They all work, however, as does the VCS, the controller, power supply, and RF switch. I have a complete game list for my system, in Excel format I would need to email directly to your email box. I don't think I can attach it in a PM. I will pay for shipping my unit and games to you via UPS ground services, so that it may be tracked by both the buyer and the seller. If no one wants to do this deal, that's fine. I'm not trying to bend anyone's arm over it. lol... I'd be happy to keep my VCS with all the games. I was interested in the 5200 as I've never owned one. Firetiger, I will need our email addy in a PM to send you the Excel list of VCS games I have. Okay....that's all. Thanks again to everyone who's responded.

Friend's son gets pi$$ed off at Atari
classicgamingguy replied to Atari Charles's topic in Atari 2600
Heh....well, that's true. The games "back in the day" required more skills, I think. Like getting harder and harder per wave completed. We all remember how much fun we had, though, with the games. I mean, hours and hours of Space Invaders, Missile Command, Galaxian, Pac Man...having to get past your last score and beat that board/screen....ahh, the memories. I'm certainly not saying that the games of today are no less challenging..but there's more "fluff" involved versus gameplay, in my humble opinion. Most kids are bored with the repetition of yesteryear's games. Not enough variety, they say...same old boring screens they scream......well, yeah, of course! That's the magic of the older games! Pitfall.......ahh, now there's a platformer that still brings tears to my eyes these days. Well, all said and done, I prefer Missile Command and Space Invaders and Asteroids...keep your Halo 2's and such. I'd rather being playing ATARI! -

Alas, without the controller (at least one) there's no deal. I need a functioning system...granted I agree with you on the rarity of the controller, however, I'm offering a COMPLETE Atari 2600 (that includes the controller, RF switch, and power supply) with several games. Thank you, anyway. Anyone else? For clarity: I'm looking for a complete Atari 5200 system with controllers, AC adapter, and RF switch plus some games if available. I have plenty of Atari 2600 games for trade in the deal. Thanks!
-
What exactly comes with it? By that I mean controllers, RF switch, power adapter, etc. And what would you like for it? I have a ton of 2600 games...but I don't want to get rid of them all. I'm also looking for some games with it, but if you don't have any to part with that's fine, too. P.S. Anyone else reading this, if you have some 5200 games you'd like to part with, please chime in! I can swap you 2600 games you might want....I have an Excel spreadsheet I'll email to anyone interested. Thanks!!

Thank you, and most grateful.

Yeah, the borders ARE rather ugly. The same rainy day Memorial weekend is here, too, so I've gone through several sessions of Galaxian myself. Otherwise, a great game. I even played Pac Man and actually ENJOYED it. I must be really bored, eh? Ms. Pac Man for the 2600 is a great game in and of itself. I have a little corner of my room dedicated to the 2600, complete with it's own small TV set.

Hi! I'd appreciate it if you would. Since *MY* manual isn't around anywhere. Can you send it to the following addy? GREAT!

Hi, everyone. I'm curious if anyone has a Vectrex they'd like to part with. As I know this is a very rare system these days, I'm shooting in the dark on it, but I do have to try. PM me if you have one. Perhaps I have something you'd like, a complete Atari 2600 system and games? Thanks, all. Added note: No one has one to sell or trade??? Hrm, I know they are going for a mint on Ebay, but I do have some vintage stuff for my Atari 2600 (okay, okay, perhaps not that vintage, but I do have a nice set up with some good games...am I wheedling enough yet? lol ) I WISH I would have kept that Vectrex I had about 20 years ago!!! ARGH! Anyway, let me know. I appreciate it.

Hi, again everyone. I was wondering if anyone had an Atari 5200 with some games. I'd be willing to swap out my Atari 2600 (I have two to choose from, one "Darth Vader" model and one "Woody" model). I have tons of games to trade you with it. Included would be one controller and everything needed to hook it up to your TV. Please PM me if anyone's interested and let's talk.

Seeking Elusive Paddle Controllers
classicgamingguy replied to classicgamingguy's topic in Atari 2600
I was actually hoping to get it in a trade deal, through you guys. I know you probably already have every cartridge in my collection, however, I prefer to deal with Atarians. If you have any available, email me or leave a message here and let's talk. Thanks again! -
Hi, everyone. I was wondering if anyone had a spare set of paddles for the 2600 they'd trade me for a couple of games. It's the one thing I need to complete my Atari collection, and I'm having a hard time finding paddles anywhere. Perhaps my Ebay search was inconclusive, or I typed it wrong, however, I thought it might be a good idea to search HERE, the new home of Atari. If anyone would like to trade their paddles for some duplicate Atari 2600 games I have, please let me know. You can write a reply here or email me at: Hope to hear from someone soon. I have some games I REALLY want to play!

I was also looking for a PDF manual..perhaps I'm just being stupid, but just clicking on the 2600 doesn't really reveal it. Could you point me in the right direction? That's one manual I don't have. Another question: Are there any original instruction manuals available anywhere??
