Oops, haven't been checking on my own topic, so I thought I'd pop in to see. Great to see that others still have Gamecubes and are enjoying them. I haven't been able to pick up any games for it lately, but the ones I do have have been getting a workout, like Animal Crossing. That game never seems to get old to me. Lots to do everyday, as long as you keep your play sessions light. I typically play for about an hour, depending on what I want to do in town. My next game to get is Wind Waker, then possibly Twilight Princess. TP at my local Gamestop is around $30.00 or so, and I'm not really willing to pay that at the moment. I'd also like to find another copy of Tales of Symphonia. However, the ones they have at Gamestop have their box art and typically no instructions, so I'll wait until an original copy comes in with instructions. I usually won't buy GC games without their original paperwork. -Steve

Wanted: Animal Crossing (Gamecube) Strategy Guide-NOT Prima's!
classicgamingguy replied to classicgamingguy's topic in Wanted
Update: I have for trade: Resident Evil 2 Strategy Guide Pokemon Emerald Strategy Guide Star Trek: The Magazine (several of these) Diablo Strategy Guide Diablo 2 Strategy Guide (also covering Lord of Destruction) If any of these interest you, please PM me. At this point I will take the Prima Strategy Guide for Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. Thanks for looking!! P.S. I also have a guide to arcade machines that is up for trade. Covers all arcade games from Pong to Dragon's Lair. All guides are in fair to good condition. -Steve -
Hi, all: Just thought I'd throw this out there for the weekend (yes, I only work 4 days, so Thursday is my weekend!) to see if anyone has the Nintendo strategy guide for Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. I know the Prima guide is more readily available, but from what I've read it's a horrendous guide filled with mistakes. Unless I get completely desperate, no thank you. If you have a copy for sale, PM me and let me know what you want for it. I will get back to you on Monday about your offer. Shipping costs would be to 05052-0058. Thanks, all. Steve

Selling my Collection (Ole' School) Dec Update
classicgamingguy replied to Dazz's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Could you mark off what SNES games have been sold? Thanks. Steve -
Ax, I feel your pain. I'd dispute this, but apparently Paypal isn't going to be any help whatsoever. Sorry to hear this, guy.. Steve

Then you've got the cats (like mine) who will go back to that spot when no one's around. Then when you catch them, they innocently jump down and look at you like, "You never said to go there when you weren't around..."...

Worth of a TurboGrafx 16?
classicgamingguy replied to cybercylon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That's ridiculous! My friend had one back in the day, and I loved playing it, but at the prices I've seen it's not worth my money unless I was really die-hard about getting one. I've NEVER seen one around here, in any way, shape or form, at any place, including yard/tag sale and flea markets. -Steve -
Thanks! I'm having some fun with this old system, for sure. Not many games yet (I'm in no rush), but the Star Wars games sound like fun, plus Metroid is always a favorite with me (got both for the Gamecube). I'm still digging through my den to find more games...I could have sworn I had more SOMEWHERE, but maybe I traded them or sold them years ago... -Steve

Taste the Power!

Wow...that's about all I can say... -
Those are great suggestions on games. I just started Legend of Zelda again, so that should keep me busy for awhile. Star Fox is a shooter "must have", IMO, for the system, as well as the Final Fantasy games. And Chrono Trigger? You HAVE to get that. The game is one of the BEST RPG's made, IMHO. Another to get (which would be hard to get from what I've been told, without paying LOTS of money, is Earthbound. I think I'm going to shoot for Super Mario World first, however. And no, I'm not really interested in collecting the boxes and manuals for the system, just the games, as I'm going to play them, not collect them. I found a copy of Super Baseball 2020 stored away, and after fiddling with it for about 5 minutes, got it to work. Great game if you like sports, and even if you don't.

Any Takers on some NES/SNES stuff?
classicgamingguy replied to VideoFever1982's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
PM sent on Super Mario World (SNES)... -Steve -
I actually traded a couple of Gamecube games for it that I wasn't interested in (Sonic Collection and Marvel Super Heroes: Rise of the Imperfects), plus some old Playstation 1 magazines. Skyblazer does sound like fun...and there's the Final Fantasy games if I can get my hands on them somewhere. Any other thoughts on this? I know there's some die-hard SNES fans here, so your thoughts, games, etc. would be appreciated. By the way: Seems when I did own an SNES years back, I never actually beat any of the games I had, so everything here will be like owning the system brand new. Can't wait to try and beat Legend of Zelda... -Steve

Hello folks: Just reporting in to say I now am a proud owner of an SNES with two games: Mario Kart and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. A friend of mine at work had one his son wasn't overly interested in, so I traded for it. The unit is in darn good shape, works fine, and with my Gamecube, I'm in gaming heaven. Any suggestions where to buy games locally? Around my area there's not much in the way of gaming centers. All I have is a Gamestop, and there's no way Wally World will have SNES games. Any other thoughts on collecting games for this system, and how much the average price would be, cart only? -Steve Happily retro gaming!!

Disaster! My Cable on my Atari 2600 Split!

Okay, that sounds like good advice. Is there a temporary fix I can do to the cable? And technically, would splicing work? -Steve -
Will you ever be satisfied?
classicgamingguy replied to gameguider's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Heh...I agree with you. The games should be played, enjoyed, and lavished over!! The older titles are far from dead, and have plenty of playability left in them. I'm sure there's titles on the older systems that you haven't played or avoided during your first years of collecting. Maybe there's a game you never got in your youth and want to try now. Steve -
Hi, All: Okay, here's my dilemma: I went to play my Atari 2600 yesterday evening, and I found the cable that connects to my TV SPLIT IN TWO!!! My question to all the gurus out there is: Can the cable be spliced back together? The cable is attached to the Atari 2600 and cannot be removed. Is this a simple fix and has anyone else experience this? Not sure if a mouse got it or it was weak in that area to begin with and just decided to fall apart.. ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks! -Steve

Will you ever be satisfied?
classicgamingguy replied to gameguider's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Absolutely! I'm exactly like this when it comes to games. Right now, I'm deeply involved in one game on my Gamecube, and the other games have been neglected. I haven't touched my Atari 2600 in a month now, favoring my Gamecube over it for the time being. I go through these "spurts" like everyone else here seems to be doing!! However, for display purposes, the game systems down in my den look nice. I try to keep them dusted on occasion as well. The Gamecube has been getting lots of loving lately, even over my PC gaming. I have tons of games I just don't seem to have enough time in the day to play.. -Steve -
Nintendo DS WANTED I've been doing some thinking on this for a little bit, and I've decided that I'd like to try and get a Nintendo DS again. Now, I'm not looking for the Lite model, but the original with a charger. I'm only looking for one game as well (for now), Animal Crossing: Wild World. This doesn't even have to have the case or instructions, just the game card will suffice. The DS doesn't have to be in the best shape, as long as it works and there aren't too many scratches on the screen to make viewing impossible. Here's some stuff below I can trade for this: Atari 2600 light 6 woodgrain model with boxed games and loose carts, two joysticks, paddle controllers (one set), loose instructions and catalogs, a/c adapter, RF switch with cable plug adapter. Boxed games include: -Asteroids -Berzerk -Demon Attack -Pitfall! -Pac-Man -Ms. Pac-Man -Phoenix Loose games are all commons, some text labels, some picture labels I can throw in a Vader box as well if you want it, but I'll have to break it down for shipping purposes. I'd rather not send this unless you really want it. One PS original model with no hookups, has Diablo sticker on it, cannot guarentee if it works or not since it hasn't been tested for a dog's age. Last I knew it worked, but it was one of the original models that tended to overheat. You had to load a game then place it upside down for it to work for extended periods of time.. PC Games!! -Hinterland 2: Orc Lords (complete, manual is in PDF format on disc) -Dungeon Siege 2 (complete, map has pinholes) -Bard's Tale-new edition with original games on disc (complete) If anyone is interested, send me a PM about what you'd like. I'll probably send USPS and provide delivery confirmation. Thanks everyone. -Steve
